I spent a lovely 20 mins today lying on the ground flicking feathers and string for Dill. He played like a kitten.

I was kind of bored by the time he finished in that gorgeous cat way: rolled over, wagged his little bobtail, walked away.

I was like, "it's my pleasure, darling, let's do it again soon." He didn't even turn around

It's weirdly like a very non committal one night stand 😅😅😅

We were away for three weeks and had house sitters. The boys were only reasonably pleased to see us. The house sitters are that good!

We’ve found a pet sitter that my cat genuinely prefers to us. She almost looks disappointed when we arrive home and she runs to greet who she things will be the pet sitter and then sees that it’s us. She is one of those lovely sitters who will send you lots of photos and videos, and the cat poses so nicely for her! Honestly, when the baby was due I was sure the cat would move out and go find her pet sitters house to move in with her 🤣 thankfully she is tolerating her little brother very well, for now…

I sometimes have the same suspicions with my cat sitter 🤣 we usually have cameras on in the house too and once i saw her carry one of the cats in her arms around the living room for ages. He hates being picked up normally and wants to be put down immediately and there she is cuddling him like a baby!!! 🤣

The catsitter bond is likely that our cats are suddenly aware that they need to be in best evolutionary self-protection mode, as this is their new human who must be trained.

My neighbour once told me that she heard a house sitter asking one of my cats, "Did you have a good sleep? Where's your brother?" I have tried to model my morning behaviour on hers ever since

I talk more to my cats than I talked to my ex I lived with for 2 years 😅

I used to cat sit and was sacked from one job as the cat pined for me when they returned home and I left . He hadn’t cared they had left him for a week just snuggled with me all the time. - so it was clear I had corrupted him as he preferred me to them!

What did you do for the cat to be like this 😅😅😅 this is a nightmare situation but I have one cat who's basically velcro with me and scared of everyone and another who's unfriendly and hates most people so hopefully it never transpires 😅

Is this one of those feathery type things on a stick to play with? My little girl had one of these she loved, carried around and slept with it. It got totally ruined so I got another one which has never been used and she looked at me almost in disgust when I gave her it 😅
It's a miniature feather boa! I used to work in an accessories warehouse, we had all kinds of weird things there.

Dill will take 8 boas, please

@emm, I chat with mine all the time; just that I improved my morning chats with them. I like to sing to them.

Once I accidentally sent a whatsapp voice note to the work group chat in the middle of a chef's tantrum. I deleted it immediately without listening. When I arrived in the arvo, head chef and kitchen hands all started singing words like, "oooh let's have a lovely cup of tea, you're so lovely to me" and it was weeks before the tantrum breakfast chef spoke to me again

I stayed in and played with him all the time. They didn’t. He was left alone a lot and I treated him like a little prince which he loved. He was a gorgeous cat who deserved the best.
My own cat (rip) was banned from the local cattery and hated cat sitters so I could never go away for more than 1 night. I would have been thrilled if he had bonded and felt comfortable with a cat sitter.

Yesterday, Jimmy was intent on opening the kitchen cupboards yet again.

And, yet again, he failed to do so.

He figured he'd try his luck with the washing machine door instead.

He eventually managed to open it wide enough to stick his head in, gave a quick sniff, and then returned to the cupboard door once more to yet more failure.

I could see his little cat brain trying to work out why he could open one door but not the other.

Today it was.

3.30 am.

Sound of paws doing a mad gallop up the stairs.

Jimmy lands on the bed next to me.

"It's cold, move over."

And walks on my legs so I have to move aside for him.
