This morning cleo came in my bedroom and was doing little cries, enough to wake me up though. She had breakfast and then went straight back to sleep. I swear she wants me out the bed so she can have it to herself

We bought P a new brush after her hairball issues upthread and she hates this one just as much as the first Any tips for getting them to at least tolerate it? She hates this one so much that if I stroke her after, she's a nasty girl and tries to bite me (only ever lightly, warning nibbles) as she just assumes it's still the brush

With my previous cat, I had bought myself a new tangle teaser. It was super cute and smelt like peach. When I got home from shopping I obviously had to show her what I had bought. Once the brush came out, she was all over it! And so, that's how she became the owner of that tangle teaser, and she loved it till the end. She was short haired, & so if P is short haired, I'd recommend getting a travel tangle teaser.We bought P a new brush after her hairball issues upthread and she hates this one just as much as the first
I did try it on my new long haired cat, and she is ok with it but it doesn't get the under coat at all. So I got her a brush called a slicker brush, it's pink. It works super well! So maybe if P is long haired, a slicker brush will work well.
With brushing, it might be good to just do a little everyday. The amount can depend on their humor. If she isn't interested then that OK, try again tomorrow. When they're sleepy might be best timing. Also idk if this is useful, it is embarrassing, but I talk & sing to my long haired cat, giving her lots of compliments while brushing her. I think it might be distracting from the brushing & maybe she feels bad about how awful I sound but appreciated the compliments & so she stays put

Anyone else's furry overlords reacting badly to the change of weather (at least in the UK)? My idiot boy came through the catflap in a huge rush just now - thought he'd been chased by another cat. Nope, it had just rained on him, and he was Not Happy.

I used to have to bribe my cat with those tasty stick things to get brushed but there would come a point where she would be massively over stimulated and ‘treated out’ and would swing for me. I’ve now gotten it down to an art of a regular 5-10 minute groom instead of making grooming this big deal and she tolerates it. Weirdly she now comes to me when I lift the brush and will purr quite happily. I do have to whisper sweet nothings to her about how she is the goodest girl (of course) and she really likes her head and cheeks being groomed, both of which are kind of pointless as this is where she has the least amount of fur and minimal shed but it feels nice to her so a bit of that then allows me to groom her body which is more furry. Her chest and belly are the fluffiest but I am allowed 1-2 passes of the brush on her chest but never her belly. Thankfully she somehow manages to keep it free of any matts. Keeping it short but sweet but also regular has really worked for us, although I know no two cats are the same and now that I’ve bragged about my success she’s blatantly never going to let me againWe bought P a new brush after her hairball issues upthread and she hates this one just as much as the first
As she has developed IBD it is possibly just as well that she will get groomed without treats because I’m still massively wrapping my head around what she can tolerate anyway!

My previous cat (the one who liked the tangle teaser), would come running in when she heard me brushing my hair and would sit beside me or facing the mirror waiting her turn! She was absolutely the best, it was like playing hairdresser sometimes
Boss #1, the long haired cat, she is mostly enjoying being brushed & it is getting easier over time however we are still building trust & there is far to go.
It is so weird building trust with a cat, especially Boss #1. She was feral but is making major progress with time. For instance, she has no problem letting me rub her belly, she really likes it! She has even let me brush her belly. She has no problem letting me brush her bum too!!! And yet, she still runs away if I walk past her in any room
In past few days, I have picked her up, just to lift her onto the dresser where she likes to snooze & be brushed. But I think that is definitely showing that she is more trusting of me right?
I know I have to be patient. I did get a bit excited/hopeful & have both both Boss #1&2, Xmas outfits & Halloween outfits....also I bought Boss #2 a dress cos I already have lots of cat dresses that will fit Boss #1 & I felt bad that I didn't have a dress for her too. Now to just wait & hope that they will let me dress them for a little bit & few pictures
It’s such a special journey with a feral or rescue cat for sure! Mine just behaves in a ‘feral’ manner which is actually an insult to most feral cats who behave better than she doesFor sure twins!

but we did get her from a shelter so she has her own past. It’s funny figuring out the things she is happy with vs the things that would result in instant death to the humans. She is so good orientated that you can usually get her to do whatever you want whilst she is sucking up to you for food. She would never in a million years consent to outfits though, even if we starved her for two days (obviously we would never, we can’t even be 5 minutes late to serve a meal!) so if you get to that point I’ll be so jealous!
Puffy moved into the neighbours for some of the time she sent me this! I wondered where the hell he was! He’s still a swine. Haven’t been on the thread for a while but the naughty boy hasn’t changed!
Lula is still a really good girl and had a holiday where I met 2 new cats , Hope you and your cats are all doing good.
Aww I've missed Puffy! Very handsome.
