The vet failed to tell us that switching our cat over to hypoallergenic food should be done really slowly. We launched straight in with new wet and dry food and she was sick three times in two days and we feel really guilty about it. We can message the vets so a vet nurse gave us proper advice and now we’re mixing the two and trying to take it slowly. It’s a bloody minefield though. She might be allergic to chicken, or she might just be having a flare because we threw new food at her. We were told about some recommended brands but even tracking down and differentiating between ‘sensitive’ and ‘suitable for IBD’ cats is intense all by itself! She’s now being sick less but still being sick and she is losing a bit of weight. The vet said switching her diet was probably better for her in the long run than a life of steroids but I’m worried we’re making her ill right now ☹ my poor old cat.

Poor darling. They're such a worry sometimes. Best of luck for the rest of the process 🐾 💜

Are you able to call a vet or a cat charity for advice? I think that may be the best option for how you can help her prepare for the birth and what to do during and after.

Yes, I'll give the vet a shout. Just want to make sure I'm doing right by her.

My nearly 4 yr old neice spent a week with us, Nala spent most the nights here…. And during the day when she was in….. not used to little people! My neice just wanted to stroke her all the time and have her sit with her. So each morning I told her she was sleeping with Nala she was so happy.
Nala wasn’t happy when I put the bed away!!

Love this 🤣
Slightly different, but when I told my mum and we told my in laws I was pregnant, we did the whole scan picture in the Mother’s Day stuff because the timing worked out quite well like that. Both of them, independently and without being in communication with each other, asked if it was definitely my scan and not our cat’s. Our cat, who we adopted already neutered several years ago. Who is in her late teens 🙃🙃🙃 it’s a minor miracle that I’m pregnant but if the cat was knocked up I’d be all over the tabloids making some money off the story 🤣

I'm not a fan of cream so my cats have never tried it, they do however love mayonnaise. Even with garlic 😅
Haha honestly she was asleep underneath the sofa and my bf squirted some and all I heard was her scratching to come out and her wee head appeared 🤣 she also loves blueberry muffins!

Mine will eat basically anything. Thankfully the one thing she is not bothered about is chocolate but she is super inquisitive so needs to have a sniff of it, but will then give up her pursuit of eating it. You can’t trust her with anything else though. Which is awkward now she has an IBD diagnosis! We got her back to the vet and she is on steroid tablets for 40 days (30 at a higher strength, 10 days of trying to wean her off) to settle her stomach enough to switch her diet. So far, so good, except of course that she is STARVING 🤣 but so far she hasn’t been sick since we got her on the meds, which is brilliant! It was a bit less brilliant when she decided to wake us up at 3am (in fairness, I was awake at 3am and she heard me and came to join the party) and I don’t think she left my husband alone until he got up to feed her. But she’s kind of always been like that anyway!

They shouldn't eat it, that is why @ThisIsMyDragName said that "thankfully the one thing she is not bother about is chocolate".
As in, the cat eats everything but thankfully won't eat chocolate because chocolate is toxic to cats.

@ThisIsMyDragName My cat also likes to sniff all my food & drink. She also likes to take a lick or a bite sometimes. Unfortunately, she does like chocolate spreads, so I have to be careful with that.

Jimmy only really likes cream and is not really into anything else that I eat. He'll demand a taste of something and cry and cry until I give him a bit but he only manages a nibble or a couple of licks before leaving it be. Which is handy as the vet has said no 'people food'.

A previous cat would refuse all cat food for a week or two and would only eat cooked chicken instead, but it had to be the proper carved breast stuff. That and raw red meat - the bloodier the better.

Yeah, we’re super lucky because you’re right, it isn’t good for cats just like dogs, but it’s the one food we can safely let her sniff (when she hears the rustle of packaging, she’s over to see what it is!) without her licking it or taking a bite. Phew!

Everything else is pretty much a risk. She loves bread products, loves ham, loves cheese, loves cream, loves milk, has been known to get a bit too close to biscuits and cakes even though sugary stuff is something cats can’t taste, apparently. I’m assuming she thinks it’s sort of bread-like. Oh, she loves crisps as well. Obviously loves real meat, if we have a roast dinner she goes ballistic. She will swipe at chips, rice and pasta on a plate. We don’t -actually- feed her any of this stuff, she’s just a wild one who will have a go at most things! I’m beginning to see why she has IBD 🤣

One of my weirdos started drinking my coffee the other day 😑 normally neither of them want any human food although when this one was small he loved everything, especially potatoes and strawberries 😅
