One of my weirdos started drinking my coffee the other day 😑 normally neither of them want any human food although when this one was small he loved everything, especially potatoes and strawberries 😅
blimey! Mine is interested in foamy milk on coffees but we’ve not made one of them in ages! This morning she tried to drink from a washing up bowl of water that had been used to give the carpet a scrub after she’d had a tiny mishap with something stuck to her when she came out of her litter tray. Delightful! (She has a fresh water bowl, we let her drink out of the tap when she asks for it, we once spent about £40 quid on a fancy water machine designed to look like the sink and a tap and she HATED it because of course she did 🙄)

That bit stuck to the cat is called a travelling poo in long-haired cat communities. 💩

One of ours loves to throw water around the kitchen so we bought him a fountain. We only keep it on because for some reason the sound of running water stops him from digging water out of the bowl.

Yeah, we’re super lucky because you’re right, it isn’t good for cats just like dogs, but it’s the one food we can safely let her sniff (when she hears the rustle of packaging, she’s over to see what it is!) without her licking it or taking a bite. Phew!

Everything else is pretty much a risk. She loves bread products, loves ham, loves cheese, loves cream, loves milk, has been known to get a bit too close to biscuits and cakes even though sugary stuff is something cats can’t taste, apparently. I’m assuming she thinks it’s sort of bread-like. Oh, she loves crisps as well. Obviously loves real meat, if we have a roast dinner she goes ballistic. She will swipe at chips, rice and pasta on a plate. We don’t -actually- feed her any of this stuff, she’s just a wild one who will have a go at most things! I’m beginning to see why she has IBD 🤣
My first cat was like that. Had to be included in any meal time to see if she fancied it or not. We used to set a place at the table for her and she would stand on her hind legs with the front ones on the edge of the table and survey the table and then get the scraps on a little plate of her own.

She also liked to eat her own food using her paw. Pick up a bit of food on her right front paw and eat it from there.

A neighbour of mine had a cat who liked pineapple and loved nothing more than sucking the juice from a slice of tomato.

Nala knows when we’ve finished dinner n I take the plates to the kitchen….shes at rhe bin as I scrape the plates! 9/10 she doesn’t eat it or I won’t let her. If it’s meat I let her have a bit.
She then goes back to bed!
But she loves custard, yogurts and can hear me get the tuna out!

My parents got one of those water fountains for their cats, never used at all. Mine both drink quite a lot of water(compared to other cats I've had) but would never drink from a bowl, they only like drinking from glasses, which means in practice that in hot weather my flat is full of water glasses on the floor for the cats while I only drink out of bottles so I can be sure my water hasn't been drunk from by the cats 😅

one of our cats used to shout at us to turn the tap on so he could drink from that. The others are less discerning: they will drink from their bowls, but they really prefer the frogs of bricks in the garden, the pond, or puddles.

I read somewhere that cats really like rain water, not sure if its true but I always mean to try and collect it when it rains but keep forgetting

Cats seem to like running water as it's fresh. I guess rain water is running?

They also like their food and water bowls to be in different places
Yeah I heard that too, but I've got 2 cats and 2 food bowls (wet food), 1 of which is beside the water fountain. Surprisingly they both go to that 1 & finish that bowl before they munch on the 2nd bowl which is beside the dry food bowl(so actually 3 bowls of food).

In the end each cat is different and we learn to understand our own cats. It's the same with litter tray thing, it's said you should have 1 per cat plus an extra one. I have 2 cats and had 2 trays at the start but they both wanted to use the same one so no point for the second. And sorry but who has space for 3 litter boxes 😅

My bloody cat got up when I did at 4am for a wee, came back to bed with me all purring and ‘cuddly’ so I was petting her whilst she was cosied up on top of me she then proceeded to bite my fingers twice, really quite firmly. So, I stopped petting her and tried to go back to sleep and she pawed my head and repeatedly climbed on my bedside table. She then leapt off the bed and onto a chest of drawers to yowl operatically. It’s a good job she’s so pretty.

She was! It turned out she had been sick in the night (we’re on an IBD/steroid/diet change journey) which we found out when we went downstairs, so in her eyes, her belly was empty and we hadn’t fed her!
