She is long haired and it’s summer! She does get them. She’s not eaten much but that’s another thing she’s always been like that since being a kitten,it’s her strange girl She is.
Cleo gets very bad hairballs, she was screaming the other morning and took ages to actually be sick and it was just a clump of hair. I give her paste which you add to their food. Its horrible seeing them like that. I hope she feels better soon!

Does she go outside? If not maybe consider getting a little grass plant, apparently chewing on it helps with fur balls. Mine both love eating the grass outside my flat and have never had any issues (touch wood)
We’ve tried to grow them for her a couple of times but she has ignored them up to now. She sometimes seems to nibble the house plants (cat safe!) to make herself sick, though!

I came downstairs yesterday to find Jimmy had thrown up in the backyard. I could see a large lump of fur in there and the food was pretty well digested so he must have been yukking it up from the depths. I've dosed him with hairball remedy anyways.

I was woken by urgent shouting at 4.30 am this morning. I came downstairs to check what was causing him such distress. He had been playing with one of his toy balls and it had gone under the armchair where he couldn't reach it. So, obviously, instead of getting another toy ball he woke me to get the one he wanted and then ignored it when I gave it back to him.

It's always a mix of annoyance and then relief that nothing serious is wrong isn't it 😅😅😅 they keep us on our toes!

He is a bit off form though. He only did one small wee yesterday and no poos. Today has been one decent sized wee and a tiny poo. He's eaten all of his morning meal but is ignoring his evening one at the minute. Although, he usually eats it overnight.

I know he can't go much past 3 meals before needing to poo but I never know when as it can be 24, 36 or even 48 hours between poos.

After 2 years with him, I treat it as 'credit'. Once he does a wee or a poo, I mark it down on a spreadsheet journal as I went through hell with his predecessor who appeared to be ill just for people and giggles and cost me a small fortune in vets bills only to be told "Nah, right as rain."

One of my cats pukes a lot but that's been going on for ages and i think is cause some days he's just too greedy and has way too many treats and then usual food on top of that and eats too fast swallowing his food whole. I've never checked it out with the vet, feel like a bad owner now 😅

Yeah thats what i thought too! Wish he could choose the floor for it instead of a corner of the carpet and the wall like this morning 😅

One of mine was always puking up food. She lived to 15 and a half so it never did her any harm.

Jimmy either eats too quickly so voms up a mouthful or else does the "Dying Swan" routine when he has a hairball and is wailing and thrashing about before puking it up and then is miserable for ages afterwards.

Jimmy's worst habit is drawing out going for a poo until he absolutely has to. I get an hour or two of moaning, zooming about the house and being pestered to death until he goes. After which he eats a load of food and falls fast asleep. Actually, I think he is doing it now as he is very restless for the past hour - no moaning though.

Omg what's with the cats being weird going for a poop. One of mine is like that too, he just meows and wants my attention then finally goes as normal?! Coincidentally this one is also called Jimmy 😅

@Dollylovesshoes - so glad your kitty is OK. Damn things play up to remind us how dependant we are, and keep us in our place.

My late beloved jailor puked constantly because she ate too quickly. I slowed her down by getting an assortment of slow feeder bowls and bingo, no more puke. It only took me 13 years to work it out.

My cat used my bed as a litter tray the other day as I'd moved one litter box whilst I was cleaning and hadn't moved it back to its normal place 🙄. The other litter box was in its normal location opposite where the moved one should've been. Then they have a third one although I recently changed it to a different one and both cats haven't used it since so might have to change it back.
But it was a bit so nice surprised when I was about to get into bed late at night

Old cats and not eating - a mystery... advice gratefully received...

I've got a big, hefty ginger boy who generally loves his food. About 3-4 wet packets a day. About two weeks ago, he stopped aside from a mouthful here and there. I took him to the vet and everything seemed absolutely fine - teeth, ears, heart, etc. The vet said he needed deworming, and gave him a steroid and anti-nausea shot, she was reluctant to do bloods as they were done in May and perfect. It did the trick and he started eating again.

He's now barely touched his food since this morning and I'm worried it's starting again. The question is; is it normal for older cats (15 years plus) to go off and on food again? He acts entirely normal otherwise, still drinks, uses the litterbox, etc. As my first cat, I worry about missing 'signs'.

Cats are weird creatures, it's hard to tell what they're feeling. Is it warm right now where you live? That could be a factor.

It's normal for any cat to go off their food now and then, they can get fussy.

Also I love the idea of a big, hefty ginger boy. He sounds gorgeous.

Oh wow cheeky 😅

I'll give it to my cats, they've been pretty good with the litter tray so far. One time i cleaned it out and forgot to put new litter in till the next day 😱 one of the cats was running about acring weird and asking to be let into the bathroom so he can poop in the bathtub 😅 that's his place of choice the few times he went outside of the tray

It was warm the past few days but oddly, he's eating less the one day it's cooler again... but I'm a bit more relieved to know it can just happen.

As a 'tax' for the very kind advice, here is the beast in question - playing his favourite game of blending into the laminate :ROFLMAO:
