Yes I have read this it’s absolutely horrific but I was enthralled

Can’t believe there’s a serial killer thread I’m in my element! Yorkshire ripper was always my main interest and the moors murders but I like to research other things

There’s a programme on itv next week aboit Myra and rose relationship its a Trevor McDonald one. I know a lot aboit both but never realised they had a relationship

I have also done this. He was my ‘favourite’ 😂😂

You guys are gonna Hate me for finding this thread but I’m obsessed. An interesting one to look at and although not serial killers I find very interesting in fact I’ve probs spent the most time on this one. It’s the Rettendon Range Rover murders. The Essex boys. So many theories it’s insane and the info that’s out there. Defo worth a look into
The Rettendon Range Rover Murders facinate me too.. i think because a lot of places the victims worked at went are places i know or went as a teen.
My husband remembers Tony Tucker being the bouncer at Hollywoods nightclub in Romford, old work colleagues ex got on the wrong side of Pat Tate and had to go into hiding.
Have you read Bloggs 19 book by Darren Nichols ? Its quite a good read although slightly unbelievable in places !
There is theory the police shot them as Leah Betts Dad was ex firearms officer!

There are many theories relating to this one.

There are one or two YouTube videos where people have commented on this subject too.

I think whoever was behind this hit, their secret will be kept for many, many years.

Also fascinated by this case. Have read a few books - Nichols, O’Mahoney and Leach to name a few.

Have enjoyed all the films and documentaries too - Rise of the Footsoldier was good (the sequels not so much!)

I don’t think it was Whomes and Steele though....

My mum had a friend who was a prison officer, and she worked where Myra Hindley was. She got to know her and said she was very polite and well mannered, which surprised her.
My uncle got interviewed during the Yorkshire Ripper investigations, actually a lot of local men were interviewed. Think it was just the accent!
I loved Mindhunter, since its based on the real founding of the Behavioural Analysis Unit of the FBI.
I also loved Criminal Minds.
There are some American serial killers that I'm interested in, Zodiac, BTK, Ed Gein, Bundy etc, but British ones hold more interest for me.

Yes!! So much so I'm currently training to be a forensic psychologist 😂
I would love to do that, and I’m thinking of changing career. I’m obsessed with how people think and I love studying behaviours and anything like that. How did you get into it? If you don’t mind me asking?

i'll have to check out the books by O'Mahoney and Leach - Thanks ..
Rise of the foot soldiers is much better than Essex boys films...Do think that Carlton Leach made Tony Tucker nicer in the film than he was in real life but I suppose you sometimes see good in friends when in reality they are sometimes the opposite!

Yes. Fascination with Fred and Rose West and Jeffrey Dahmer.

Oh and Brady and Hindley. The Levi Bellfield murders happened near me so have that connection.

Bernard O’Mahoney’s ones I’d recommend: Essex boys, Wanna be in my gang and Essex boys the new generation.

He also wrote another good one called The dream solution, but that’s a different topic altogether.

I personally believe it was the police. They were too much of a drag on society so the police did it to get rid of them once and for all. Took the word of a self confessed liar and put Steele and whome in prison so they took the rap for it. Perfect cover up. There are videos on YouTube where you can hear the calls going into 999 and the conversations between the police are very strange considering what had just happened. Worth a listen. As awful as this sounds if you google there’s a website where you can see there bodies in the mortuary. Absolutely horrific and I just thought these kind of pictures would never be accessible. Another reason i am led to believe the police were involved

Not at all! For me it was a complete career change as well after being a full-time mother for nearly ten years, I was in retail management. I did an access to higher education course at college to get into university, they're great, very tailored to people that have been out of education for a long time. Then I did a psychology degree at university, I just chose to do a standard psychology degree rather than criminology because it gives you more scope when you've finished. Now I'm doing a forensic psychology masters with the Open University whilst working as a prison officer.

Hope that helps, you should definitely go for it!

I think they were the fall guys.

I have read the O’Mahoney book.

The real person behind the hit, their name will never be known publicly. Anyone who decides to spill the beans will end up suffering the same fate as Tucker and Tate.

Wouldn’t surprise me really. Essex Police fit up Jeremy Bamber for the killings at White House Farm and coupled with the Establishment and the Masons, there is so much corruption in this country, it is unreal.

Oh wow!! Thanks so much! Iv been toying with the idea for so long but feel like I wouldn’t be clever enough and maybe abit too old to change my career. I’m 35 and I’m cabin crew, but with all this uncertainty Iv been thinking a lot more about changing career. My partner fully supports me in wanting to do something else but I wasn’t sure if I would be capable of doing it, and to be honest didn’t know where to begin. I did look at OU courses but they all seemed so expensive that it put me off. But I will look into it more!! Hope you are enjoying it all!
You should be extremely proud of yourself for just going for it and having the courage to change career, I salute you! Xxx

Thank you.
Definitely never too old, I graduated at 38. The Open University undergraduate courses are exactly the same as university now so student finance will pay the fees with no means testing, not many people realise that. Or if you can afford to drop down to part-time actually going to university is an option, I managed to fit in a part-time job, child and university.

Darren Nichols is a complete fantasist! a good book but i dont think Steel and Whome did it either.
ive seen the mortuary photos 😱 i stumbled on them by accident..Surely police murder case photos should not be turning up on the internet! they've beem in there for quite a number of years so it had to have been someone within the police who put them there! I'll check out youtube !!

Exactly. That information should never be accessible by the public and how did it even get there? Which leads me again to the police theory. Have a look at crimescene to courtroom on YouTube. His videos are fascinating. Even goes back to the crimescene and compares day and night time. Very eery.

You can see their mortuary pictures on Pinterest, of all places! 😮

Did Ian tell the police he didn’t know? I’m sure I heard he would play a game, say he’ll show them where he is then he never did show them?

What I find fascinating, is that Myra used to babysit some of her neighbors children before she met Ian. I think had she not met him, she would never have considered this or something similar. She would have lived a quiet life, raised a family and we would never have known her. She’s absolutely evil and 100 percent responsible for what she did, I’m not disputing that. But I think my point is how she became a murderer by circumstance. It’s quite scary to think someone could get you into such a way of thinking.

I think Ian always had it in him. He used to be cruel to animals as a teen I believe. They say that many murderers initially start on animals.
100% agree. My aunt (married into family) and her siblings were babysat by Myra quite regularly. She says she remembers her being a nice girl, just normal, nothing significant sticks in her mind. She remembers her babysitting for other families too, like u say. Myra would have had plenty of opportunity to hurt children and didn’t (or as far as has been reported). There’s definitely been a trigger for to change her behaviour. It may well be she thought about / planned these horrible things in her head but had she not got involved with him, she might never have acted them out. You’ll never know with these types of cases, I think it gets worse the more u think about it tbh.

There is a good Ted Bundy documentary series on Prime if anyone fancies it. Interviews relatives of his victims etc, gives a voice to who they were.

I find Your comment fascinating. Moore murders have always been a big interest of mine and I agree aboit Myra, had she not met Ian she probably wouldn’t have taken this path. Having said that I don’t blame him for her actions. She was fully aware: she was used maybe brainwashed to lure these children. She was besotted with Ian. Once in prison she done a 360 on him and tried to blame him and this backfired on her. I know you say she had plenty of Opportunity to hurt children but didn’t at that time but I will never defend her. Ian or not she had her own mind and knew what she was doing. I don’t believe in psychopaths. I think they wanted to do it so they did. Their downfall was Ian trying to involve Dave smith their brother in law and this backfired on them. It is believed he was growing tired of Myra and wanted a new acquaintance. Unbeknownst to him, this was their downfall

Peter Tobin.

Angus Sinclair and Gordon Hamilton.

There is three serial killers we will never (IMO) truly know how many victims they have. All of them DEFINITELY have killed more than they have been caught and jailed for.

Incidentally I was watching Dennis Nilsen stuff last night (not Des- keeping that for later this week) and it made me realise how many of UKs notorious serial killers are Scottish 😳😳

Peter Tobin
Angus Sinclair
Gordon Hamilton
Dennis Nilsen
Ian Brady
Robert Black

that’s a lot and I’ve probably missed others.
