New thread here: Please carry on pouring that tea. We discussed amongst other topics, the prime time presenter who has been making news this week. Midge Ure hasn’t been given enough credit for Band Aid. And Katy Perry particularly the video of her receiving THAT text.
As you were.

Edit: I couldn’t post this on the last thread but to @Eirawen and @Amelia99. Reading your posts just want to say I applaud you both - May you have further success in life.

I agree. And to put my 2 pennies worth in, I agree, using the term ' Champagne Socialist about any wealthier person who cares about those less fortunate than themselves is tabloid crap. If people earn a lot of money and then pay tax without quibbling, they can do what they like, as long as they don't preach one thing and do another and expect people to listen. People who go on about Social Justice then validate people like Philip Green by cavorting on his yacht I would call ' champagne socialists'. People who are wealthy and spend their own money on things they enjoy, but still speak out about inequality and unfairness are not champagne socialists imo.

Also, Katy Perry had a baby with Orando Bloom?? When did that happen???

preach it!

he seemed such a lovely man. his continued support of daniel radcliffe (as he mentions in his diaries) was just one act of kindness in a life that seems to have been made up of many.

Women terminate pregnancies when they don’t want to be pregnant all the time. Sometimes, because of the grief they expect they’ll get the man isn’t told beforehand. Katy Perry had her reasons and Russell Brand is a first class, card carrying, misogynist, gasbag of a bellend… so fair play to her.

absolutely though to be fair, i had never heard that abortion rumour before i read it in the last thread. even if it did happen though, as you say, kp is fully entitled to make a decision of her own choosing.

I don’t know if it happened or not. I’m commenting on a post from earlier.

I’m a feminist with two daughters and think “because I want one” is a perfectly good reason for a woman to have an abortion. Nobody else need be involved in the decision.

Well he has his 2 daughters now, I think he may be a controlling father as he will be judging every bloke they are seeing by his own standards which are not very good.

Just got his diaries book delivered today. Looking forward to reading it.
I was slightly disappointed. The diaries run from 1993 to his death. So they don’t cover the period I was most interested in - 1980 to 1992 which takes in Les Liaisons Dangerouse, Die Hard, Truly, Madly, Deeply and Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. The period where his career really took off. Would have loved to read his thought on that as it happened.

Otherwise the book is a good read. But it’s a diary so mostly gives two perspectives, the mundane stuff like things he had to do (flights, meetings, events) and things that were pissing him off so he used the diary as a place to let off steam.

He mentions his family a lot and other people who are not famous - the DM reviewer obviously missed those bits.

It would be great if someone writes a good Rickman Biography where you get a much more rounded picture of the man.

Which bands and singers are cancelling tours? I have a few gigs before the end of the year, and though I haven’t heard from venues or the artists, I’m worried. During the lockdowns it was going to hear live music was what I missed the most

The things with the Daily Mail - do we think this is related to historic phone hacking? Because they didnt get done first time round?

I reckon this is a no win no fee thing

Tbh you can still be a grumpy old man and still be a lovely guy. You just have low tolerance for BS and put your energy into the good people and situations you care about. I'm all for that too, give me a grumpy authentic person over a nice fake one
