I don't understand what is meant here: in what sense does referencing that a victim of past sexual abuse was a child when it happened take anything away from other victims, and what 'lines' are being 'blurred' in referring to said victim as a 'boy' (which he was at the time of the alleged offenses)?
I meant that talking about a 15/24 incident as a 15/50 incident would undermine any new victims that came forward that actually had a 15/50 incident

Whoever said the industry is rife with this is absolutely correct. I used to hang around with a group that included prominent gay men in the theatre industry and there were always loads of very young guys just hanging around, who’d get taken on foreign holidays and stuff and every now and then one of them withdrew suddenly see his career explode. This was all men over 18 but still sleazy.

And with Spacey the issue wasn’t him dating inappropriately young guys, he was known to be physically violent and abusive. He seriously sexually harassed several of my friends and I absolutely believe the rumours that he outright grape young men.

I have a friend who I met when we were both 20 and she had a 30 yr old boyfriend who she had been with for 7 years. They had a house and mortgage together and she openly admitted she pursued him in a nightclub and lied for a long time about her age.
She now acknowledges it as a deeply unhealthy relationship but won’t take it further as she is adamant that it is what she wanted at the time.
Looking at it now, with teenagers of our own, it is scary that this was accepted and allowed by her family.
I suppose what I’m getting at is that things that seemed okay at the time are exposed when you look back from a different perspective.
Hindsight is 20/20 as they say.

SM must’ve been horrified but then relieved in 2016/19.

It’s curious where the allleged incidents took place, Hampshire and IOW are mentioned. Scott is from Southampton. IOW doesn’t have a massive gay scene. I wonder how they met, perhaps a Heart FM Event.

I think she's saying that people here are equating a serious sexual assault between 15 and 24 year olds with a serious sexual assault between 15 and 50 year olds.
I don't think anyone is saying that. Posters here seem to be able to distinguish between the two.
Both are unacceptable, and both are also crimes.

We don’t know he was 15, that’s an assumption that’s being made as it says he was under 16. Also serious sexual assaults against a minor are still horrific crimes whether the perpetrator is 24 or 50.

Making out there is a massive age gap when it isn't, means attention won't be given to it when it happens. I don't know how else to say it 🤷‍♀️
I dont think anyone has said anything about a massive age gap in regards to Scott and the alleged victim

Do you know what you're replying to? The whole discussion is because i didn't think it was right to keep refering to the victim as a boy, when the victim and SM are both 40+

No they haven’t, just that the victim was under 16 (and therefore a boy) when it occurred

But the victim was a boy.
Just because he is an adult now, doesn't mean the crime has somehow time-traveled with him and is now something that was committed against an adult.
He was a boy when this happened to him. Even those here assuming he was 15, I mean saying under 16 means he might have been 12 or younger for all we know.

It’s Hampshire and IOW police, it‘s a force which covers both areas so it could have happened anywhere within Hampshire or the Isle of Wight.

You've literally proved my point.
