Re offence(s): would it be offences if it were one individual on more than one occasion, or individual offences against several people?
Both!
From what we’ve read/what’s been published it’s one individual currently which means it happened more than once and is likely to have been harder to establish when one offence ended and the next one started, which is why the victim might have contracted the bbc/police again because they’ve now realised there are several accounts they didn’t realise.
I suspect, that the boy (at the time) believed he was in a relationship with SM, then SM has had enough and then it’s all gone wrong. Even if they just met up at clubs and did things in various spaces which weren’t intercourse, it would still be counted as a serious sexual offences rather than offence. SM has been very careful to just put offence in his statement but the met police put offences. So I bet the one which didn’t meet the threshold is the one SM is referring too, rather than other things which he’s probably got away with

I used to be a fan of Years & Years and still listen to their first album but the two after that....he might have a decent voice but it's clear he needed the others as the last album which was all him flopped big time.
The first album was excellent wasn’t it? I had such high hopes for them after that but it’s almost like they put their best work into the first album and then couldn’t sustain it.

Surprising how many people I have seen subtly or not so subtly try and reason around alleged sexual offences against an under 16 yo

From lying about your age to the age gap not being that big... are we alright?
I don't think it's quite that. I think it's more that the lack of information and the lack of any prior suspicion around Mills leaves people guessing as to what has gone on so they naturally try and fill in the blanks wirh the least worse scenario.

Obviously; the public are not owed the details but I know I prefer specifics when developing an understanding of scenarios.

When you have a public figure like Edwards or Mills, someone who is in people's lives and routines, who feels 'safe', I think it's just human to need to understand the level of deception involved.

I'm not sure I've explained that very well. I know what I'm trying to say but I can't quite find the right words.

Are you?
you seem to have missed whole swathes on conversation and reduced it (ironically) to minimising. If you’ve read the thread and that’s your understanding then I doubt we can force you to comprehend.

For me , with Fry its not the age gaps themselves. Its the fact that the guys look so much younger. Hes clearly into very young looking guys, gives me the ick a bit.

Tom Daleys relationship is icky. Lance met him when he was very young and vulnerable after his dad died. He even admitted as much in an interview, which now seems to have vanished from the Internet from what I can tell.
A lot of early Tom/Lance stuff seems to have disappeared. I remember an interview where Tom talked about his and Lance's leather kink and Lance being his leather daddy. No trace of it now but I deffo remember it. Very odd couple.

What does it say? I don’t click s*n links
Just the victim stayed in touch with Scott til around 2006, Someone who was in Scott's social circle back then said

“Scott stayed in touch with him, and I first heard about him in 2001.

“They used to see each other, and Scott was friendly with him like he was with a lot of people.

“I’m sure they were still in contact until around 2006. It suggests they were still on good terms so I’m not sure what prompted the investigation.”

What a load of bull “I’m not sure what prompted the investigation” well clearly if the victim realised the relationship/what they did when they were under 16 was no legal/inappropriate that will be it

ignorance around individuals and what counts as an appropriate relationships/friendships is doing my head in

Thanks.

So it was someone who he knew. Groundbreaking. And they made a whole interview/front page out of that.

That Hinds story is pretty rubbish. This bit really made me laugh:

Mills' accuser, I'm told, resolved to contact the BBC after watching the recent Channel 5 drama about the downfall of newsreader Huw Edwards, whose career ended after he was convicted of making indecent images of children. Whether this really is the trigger for the complaint or just coincidental timing is hard to tell, such are the febrile rumours circulating around W1A.
So basically this is one of the my best friend's neighbour's plumber's dog says stories.

Even though the Daily Mail isn't fit to line the bottom of your pet rat's cage with, you have to hand it to some of their writers who manage to construct an entire article with absolutely zero news whatsoever.

Kept in contact with Scott for at least eight years after the alleged abuse happened. Why would he report something new now ten years after he first reported it and whatever it is why didn't he report it at the time?

When you are young, you may not realize that a relationship or sexual encounters were wrong/abusive etc. Don't know whether it's true that watching the Huw Edwards program prompted him to report again.
The new bit is apparently the bbc didn't know before that he was under 16, leading me to conclude they were ok with sexual offences as long as the victim wasn't underage.
So much unknown, seems like the bbc are handling this with their usual half assed storyline. Is it really not possible to lay out a coherent timeline.

It can take a while for a victim to realise that they’ve been groomed/abused. I think the BBC said it was a third party who first reported it (when there was insufficient evidence to proceed) so maybe at the time he didn’t realise he’d been groomed, and it took the Huw Edwards documentary for him to realise that whatever happened had been inappropriate.

Also I don't think we are sure that the person who reported it first was the boy? It could have been a parent etc.
