Genuine question where are his friends going on about how worried they are? I haven’t seen anyone put their neck on the line and actually talk about him publicly?
I don’t think anyone is going to do a Jon Sopel. After all, no one really knows everything anyone. Especially if it’s something that happened in the past

Yes, in strict ‘technical’ terms it’s ephebophilia for post-pubescent (14+ ish) attraction and hebephilia for 11-13-ish, but I’ve never seen a media report that makes the distinction as I doubt most people would have a clue what the other terms meant.

So many people jumped straight to ‘guilty’ for Matthew Kelly because of his gentle, slightly ‘camp’ (awful word, but I don’t know how else to describe it) demeanour, which apparently obviously made him secretly sinister 🙁
Thanks for the technical terminology! That's handy.

We've seen how someone's demeanour has damned them already on this very thread. 😐

The article says between 13 and 16 and if it went on for 3 years he will have been underage for all that period, otherwise why would the prolonged period matter?
oh you mean the bit that GrunkaLunka quoted, I read that different as not being his definite age but going by the known facts which are Teenager Under 16. Which could be 13 or could be 15. The prolonged period matters because the age of consent was 18.
So if he was 13 or 15 he'd still be under age for the whole period

Why did he think he was being investigated then if it wasn’t because he was a teen?
The ‘serious sexual assault’ part I guess. Which suggests it wasn’t just a case of a relationship with someone underage, but involved other aspects of ‘serious sexual assault’.

It’s been mentioned the alleged abuse took place over a span of 3 years and the victim was under the age of 16 so that kinda fits.

Shame on SM if this is true.

When was the age of consent in gay relationships reduced from 21? I feel like it was still 21 in the 90s but am unsure.
It was in 2000 for England

I do think about the alleged victim in this case, watching all this unfold.

There is a lot of support for SM despite his statement which was not a compete denial of what may or may not have happened.

The statement has been carefully curated with knowledges that we aren’t privy to. Scott knows what he did and didn’t do. He knows what evidence the boy has. Scott knows the case was closed in 2016 due to lack of evidence, knows precisely what he was accused of back then.

The boy can rightly sell his story to the press if he wants, I wonder if he is thinking to do that?

CSA survivors seeking justice can be very driven, a voice that needs to be heard. Even many years later.
Why do you keep saying boy?

Good on Jeremy for being brave enough to speak out positively.
The text read: "I hold you in the highest regard and I wish you all the best." Before he realised it was serious, Jeremy believed that it was an "AI spoof" or that his laptop had fallen victim to a "virus."

Can anyone explain what this means, did Scott send this to Jeremy or Jeremy to Scott 🤔 besides that, what did they think was an ai spoof *virus* the message or the accusation 🤔 I don't understand what he's saying 🤔

Does anyone know why the DM would turn off commenting on some of the SM articles, or any articles for that matter?
