Good on Jeremy for being brave enough to speak out positively.
He has taken his time and I suspect knows a lot more than the public do, hence he feels safe making this statement.

I am probably going to regret saying this, but I do think it's brave of him, and good of him, to speak out positively about his friend.

Well you take your chances doing that.
Most people have friends and most people would have someone speak up to say something nice. It would be better if the normal was nobody said anything until there’s an official decision about investigation/charges etc

In my working world, when someone loses their job and has their reputation trashed with a lack of evidence, it goes to appeal. I honestly feel the BBC have failed so many times in the past that this time they just took action straightaway.

Good on Jeremy for being brave enough to speak out positively.
The text read: "I hold you in the highest regard and I wish you all the best." Before he realised it was serious, Jeremy believed that it was an "AI spoof" or that his laptop had fallen victim to a "virus."

Can anyone explain what this means, did Scott send this to Jeremy or Jeremy to Scott 🤔 besides that, what did they think was an ai spoof *virus* the message or the accusation 🤔 I don't understand what he's saying 🤔

Initially, I'm reading it as though he's covering his back a little, but reading further I think I understand what is being said.

I believe Jeremy is saying that he Jeremy sent the message to Scott when Jeremy initially found out about the sacking. He had 17 minutes before going on air and so the time pressure and vague information at the time regarding Scott being sacked for "personal conduct", led him to believe that it could be fake news that got Scott sacked eg some kind of Deepfake style evidence (This is an assumption on my part)

He knew Scott had been sacked imo, but his mind questioned the basis, due to Scott being popular, unlike Huw. At this point Jeremy had no knowledge of an alleged underage victim being involved.

The computer virus bit doesn't make sense to me, but he would have been in shock, so Jeremy's brain was probably looking for answers in multiple ways that now don't seem rational, but it was just shock trying to make sense of the situation.

Jeremy was far more vocal in his support for Huw Edwards in those early days and weeks than he has been for Scott, which is interesting given he is now saying he knew Huw was a bully. I know being a bully is not the same as grooming / CSAM but you’d think it was unpleasant enough to exercise a bit more caution before speaking so publicly in support of him.

That's interesting. I hadn't seen/heard Jeremy's previous comments re Huw, and don't know much about Jeremy at all, except that he has a brother called Tim 😆. So yes, I agree, if he is now saying that Huw was known for bullying, why would he have previously spoken up for him..... it makes J seem disingenuous.

Here’s something from back then.

He said: “You have to be certain before you run something that destroys a man, and it now looks like he very sadly is in a terrible way […] a man who is apparently in a very, very devastated mental condition. I wonder whether we may be heading for the mother of all libel actions here.”
“What a sad, sad story this is. I’m thinking of my colleague, who is unwell,” he said.

I suspect it's because Huw was bullying the higher ups, not the people below him.

I listened to Romesh yesterday on Radio 2. At one point he said goodbye to a caller and said love you to which Sally Traffic asked why he always said that. He said it was in the hope someone would say the same back. Sally said what empty words it was. Scott always says ‘love you, bye’ to callers so maybe a coincidence

It’s risky to support someone who’s being investigated for CSA. I remember when the Corrie actor Michael Le Vell was the subject of a malicious complaint. Lots of his co-stars including Brooke Vincent, Charlie Condou and Malcolm Hebden stood up for him publicly which made me think that it was indeed a pack of lies. Usually, colleagues remain silent and it’s provably wise unless you know the case really well.

This is why they’d all be better saying nothing, though. People read into “how many people spoke up” or didn‘t, when actually it should just be radio silence in public until there’s some update.

He continued: "With Huw, his great skill was to bully upwards. He's the only person I've ever seen who didn't bully underlings, he bullied his bosses." Huw Edwards pleaded guilty in 2024 to making indecent images of children.

That case was alot different though with it being a family member

I do feel sorry for Scott with all the comparisons to Huw. As far as we're aware the two situations are very different.

Huw in his 60s received CSA images of the worst kind involving children aged 7-9 and continued chatting to the person and receiving more.

Scott when he was 22/23 something happened with a child under 16 (suggests they were 14 or 15 else they would say 13 or under) and they had at least one more contact 3 years later.

There is a public interest to prosecute Huw even though for that kind of stuff it's rarely custodial. Not excusing Scott but it appears to be a diff situation.

I really dislike them wanting to make someone of people I don't care about. I only care about the DJ presenting the show not others like Sally, Ellie etc.
I really can’t stand Ellie! They’ve been priming her since she started to be the next Richie, who also annoys me!
