Wow a lot of you are really trying to make excuses for the fact that he was involved with a CHILD. And by involved I mean groomed/abused. I don’t care how many years ago it was. That’s ducked UP.

Was he? If he was how come he hasn't been arrested, the BBC knowingly let him continue in his role? People are quick to throw Scott under a bus, but there are two sides to every story and one day the truth will come out and we can go off that. The person accusing Scott doesn't appear to have any receipts about what supposedly happened.

It's been a tough week for his colleagues.

The Scott Mills whispers swirling - and the Tina Daheley question everyone is now asking: TV insiders talk to the Mail about what's really going on inside the BBC | Daily Mail Online

There are a million reasons why people don't come forward sooner, many of which have been discussed numerous times in relation to various different cases. Having worked with survivors, this question alone is quite damaging, but always comes up. It's really disheartening.

If it's a genuine question, please do a bit of research on the subject.
Quite. Also, the person in question did come forward at the time!

That's it. When clubbing we trust the door men to do their job correctly and keep out those underage. We aren't going to ask someone in a club if we can see their photo ID to kill the mood. Women especially can easily make themselves look way older with make up and clothes. It would be quite easy for someone to end up kissing someone who shouldn't be in there, especially with booze involved.

There has always been underage sex stories in the press about people getting picked up on nights out.
The SM case was over 3 years though, so not really relevant here.

Not condoning anything at all id like to state before i go on

This person accusing scott and going to the papers as it looks like they are,why now? Why would you not say something sooner? Something dont feel right about this coming out now
Scott Mills is married to a man born before the accuser. In 1997 Scott was 24, the accuser under age 16, Scott's husband was age 8.

This teenager may have had feelings for SM, however SM ought have put a tonne of distance between them.

Let us see if SM issues a public statement about what happened almost 30 years ago.

Financial gifts at the time perhaps? and then people try move on with their lives until perhaps other events happen that triggers trauma or maybe conscience? I believe this all hit the fan again just after the HuwE drama aired.

Aw god. I’m gutted with this whole thing. I’m a fan of Scott from his R1 days but I didn’t follow him to radio 2. My friend and I enjoy his brand of immature hilarity and I’ll be sad to find out if he’s genuinely done something untoward. Hoping it’s been a case of interaction with someone that’s maybe lied about their age or similar? Either way will be hard to prove given the year and possible lack of electronic evidence so maybe we will never know but his career is absolutely shot now. As for the BBC I do still listen to radio 1 but that’s about it, they have let too much slip through the net and made a point of coming down hard on Scott and showing they won’t put up with ANY wrong doing, proven or not. Bet there’s plenty of arses nipping at the BBC now

Can’t believe how many sympathisers are on here, backing Scott. This is exactly why people don’t come forward. Disgusting.

I think that's down to it being Operation Winter Key, which was looking at 'prominent figures'. I found a police report/review into Operation Winter Key which noted that, after Operation Midland where serious allegations against multiple politicians made by Carl Beech later turned out to be entirely false, the Met were advised to take a more discreet approach to the investigation to avoid creating further scandal or witchhunt if there was no evidence to support the claims.

So this is likely why he wasn't arrested/charged prior to the CPS decision and why it wasn't news back in 2016-18. He probably never even entered a police station to avoid being 'spotted'.

I don’t think this is why people don’t come forward. There is no legal case against him. There is genuine shock in the industry because he is universally well liked. That’s not to say that he can’t be guilty of something but he was essentially cleared. It seems to me like the person who made the allegations has come forward strongly since the huw Edwards drama and they have shat the bed about it.

There is not enough evidence yet. Every single wrong ‘in in the past has made complete sense. Saville was so obvious - the man could not look like more of a PDF. Russel brand, David walliams, even Rolf Harris have always given me the ick. Scott mills it just doesn’t make sense. There also needs to be some space to consider that this person may be making false allegations. Most of my male gay friends were sexually active from a young age. That’s not to excuse someone in their 20s knowingly going after them but to say these relationships happened. My female friend dated a 25 year old when she was 15 and while I found it totally gross at the time (he was a twit to boot), she would argue that she knew exactly what she was doing. If he was a public figure that she was now trying to take down, I’m not sure that I would think it fair unless he showed that pattern of behaviour. It will be k treating to see if any other claims come out.

I’m not proud to admit this, but there are men out there who I told I was 17 or 18 when I was no older than 15. Honestly, possibly 14. It was the same sort of era. I certainly looked the part.

I’m trying to withhold judgment until more comes out on this story but I can’t help but feel sad for Scott at the moment.
Yeah I get this. From the age of 13 I had men coming on to me as I certainly looked a lot older than my years. Easier for girls to look older at the time. Luckily for me as soon as I said my age they scuttled off. But I think the majority of us lied to get into clubs etc.

I don’t know if he’s guilty or not but the CPS deciding there is no enough evidence to feasibly secure a conviction is not ‘essentially cleared’. The alleged victim didn’t go to the police until 15 years after the time. I would imagine securing a conviction when digital media wasn’t a thing would be incredibly difficult. How do you provide evidence?

We have no proof that he was involved with and/or groomed/abused a child. Let's not speculate until we know the truth.

I briefly dated a girl who was 15 when I was 18 or so (and if anything she was more mature than me!) and my mum worries to this day (20 odd years later) that she'll fall out with me and go to the police (even though tbh with that age gap the police / CPS most likely wouldn't care anyway, its quite a lot different to 25 and 15, say).
