Hey guys!

I follow this girl on Instagram, she was paralysed from the waist down in a car accident and she shared a news article recently about scientific research showing an injection that can reverse paralysis. It’s incredibly interesting as the brain and spinal cord have very limited regenerative capacity. I’ll share the article with you guys where it shows it on mice!

This is really good to see that this is being studied and could possibly be applied to Alzheimers research. The cognitive neuroscientist who is leading the study is someone I have cited in research for my MSc and have worked with some of his colleagues in the field. Brilliant minds!

Hey @Scorpihoe thanks for sharing this article. What an amazing form of therapy - to reverse paralysis. This part really stood out to me -

“Other effects of the treatment include scar tissue being reduced and myelin, the insulation that surrounds axons, being reformed.”

The myelin is something that is damaged in MS - so it made me think whether such therapy would be beneficial to MS sufferers as it reports the myelin being reformed.

It was a great experience working with these researchers. Lots of exciting research happening and some in the pipeline too.
