Does anyone else suffer from this? I've had it for about 3 months now, and I'm at my witts end.

My back aches, I have "pulling' type pains through my thigh, my calf aches and is numb and my foot and ankle feel like they are raw. This is 24/7. I wake up about 3 or 4 times a night with the pain. Walking is agony. I just get in from work, lie on the floor and cry.

Have been to a physio so trying to do some exercises but they just hurt so much. Also seen an osteopath and currently seeing a chiropractor. Waiting to see if the gp will put me forward for an MRI. Currently on naproxen and amitriptyline but I'm not sure how good they are as I am still in agony

Sorry for the long moan. Has anyone else had it/suffer from it? When does it end?

I feel you. I’ve had two episodes of sciatica. First one in my 30’s the discs went onto rupture, which resulted in emergency surgery, due to the dr noticing I had to keep going to the toilet in appointment.

Second one in my 40’s, went through the same process with mri scan, discs bulging again. Dr said too much of risk for op, said would go private, they still refused. So had to sit it out.

Think that was about six months, but I can remember the day it started getting better. Each time my foot was always dead, and one day I had the sensation that a million elastic bands were pinging off my foot, it was mad. Then I was able to move more freely and in less pain. Then slowly recovered.

I will say, try to stay on the pain relief that you are on, as I was on liquid morphine and gabapentin, which has affected my stomach, even though I took the tablet to protect my stomach. The withdrawal from them all was worse than the scene in trainspotting.

Hopefully when you get mri scan, you’ll get answers. But you’ll have to watch now, as you have this weakness. I could only sleep on my front to get to sleep. Biggest mistake ever. So now I lay on my side. I now follow that many chiropractors on tik tok for top tips. Most common one is to be on your side with a pillow between your knees.

It’s just so shite, but as the dr said the second time that I just had to ride it out. But it was a long six months. Take care xx

Thank you so much for your detailed and kind reply.

I'm getting shooting type pains through my foot so I'm hoping that it's similar to what you had and that the end is in sight.

It's just so debilitating. I used to exercise 6 times a week, loved a long walk and now I have to stop and rest when I walk to my garage.

i have suffered since having my 2nd baby 7 months ago and the doctors wont even see me just give a prescription of co-codamol and naproxen to collect which is a bit tit when you can't even move never mind drive and have an 8 week old baby at the time that you can't even bend to pick up in and out the cot! i had to phone my mom to come and help 🙈oh and their advice is to go for a walk🙄 i have been bed bound for 3 days at a time a few times and still no need for an appointment according to the doctors my partner phoned once with his as he had a few shooting pains he's been referred to a nerve specialist straight away and we are at the same doctors 🤦🏻‍♀️it's the worst pain mine flares up then okay for a while and i have a few niggles when i cough and sneeze then full blown all of a sudden unexpectedly and i can't move one day all of a sudden! x

I get this quite a lot as one of my symptoms of endometriosis and one thing I swear by is wearing comfy elasticated bottoms and basically strapping a hot water bottle in at the back of them and it does ease the pain a bit. I also do some light yoga poses, like child's pose etc and just hold it for as long as i can until it feels better! I hope you feel better soon 💕

Yeah it’s just rubbish. I scoff when people say they have a sore back, and still going about their daily routines. You may find that the full feeling doesn’t come back to the foot, due to the nerve damage. But with the pain you’re suffering now, think you would take that.
I’m currently in the long rehabilitation of a shattered ankle and broken leg. So now total para about my back. So doing everything to avoid a flare up. Sleeping in correct position and do chair yoga when at my work wfh 😅 with a stand up desk, which is great!
