Hopefully it’s not too bad but it did seem like they chose to limit interruption to their holiday rather than deal with it properly.
My son split his head open at school and we waited hours at minor injuries to get it cleaned, glued and steri stripped to get it healing as neatly as possible. He just had the strips so it could breathe rather than a huge bandage wedge on it

OT but I’m always baffled / jealous/intrigued when people say kids 5ish year old are too tired after school and can’t do clubs .. I have the opposite problem an energy bunny who never stops talking or moving until 9pm
