Update for anyone who doesn't get her newsletter: she's 15 weeks along, so her youngest was about 7 months when she got pregnant again.

How is she so skinny after 5 babies!?

Not to be a downer, but it's probably a combination of genetics and disordered eating. She's diagnosed herself with a milk and gluten intolerance (except homemade sourdough of course) and I feel like that's usually a slippery slope.

I started watching her for minimalist content, but soon found all of her weird fundie videos and "wife talks" and became fascinated by her... shall we say, lifestyle.

I'm a Christian myself and I get sinister vibes from this family. The incessant breeding, the dubious sexual conduct, the homeschooling, the odd head-shaving stuff...if those kids need help, I hope they can get access to it.

Okay. I'm happy that worked out for you and that you have the option to continue down that road with your children. But I cannot agree with you that you don't need a formal education to be a teacher, because that formal education, while maybe regulated by policies and politics/government you may not agree with (because that's what I can understand from your reply) it is based on science :child psychology, didactics, methodology, sociology, medicine to name a few. Knowledge, experience and the implementation of those rarely comes naturally to someone. I can see the benefits of homeschooling I really can, but only done by someone who has actually trained to do that. Not a parent with a downloaded curriculum.

You have a right to your opinion, but it makes me SO angry that people in our world have been so conditioned believe that you need someone who went to university to be properly educated. The problem is that you believe you need a certain system o be educated. A system that is designed to turn out university students, then people who go into the work force who spend their lives working 9-5. You assume that it is a ”parent downloaded curriculum”. There are so many amazing curriculums out there designed for homeschooling/unschooling, they are not just some wishy washy none sense, like people think they are. You do NOT need someone who went to school to properly educate child. That’s a huge problem in our world, people ASSUME that education is based on all the things you mentioned, because tou have been taught that your in entire life. They ASSUME that experts put together this system based on all these factors, and that’s why we need to be in school. Truthfully, it’s NOT how education needs to be, and when people question it, they are looked down on. The older most people get, they don’t even remember most of what they learned in school, most of it they never use again unless they are in a career that uses certain information. So much of school is based on exams, and performing to a certain standard. A standard based on what people in a position of authority tell you is important. Again, you’re your opinion appears heavily based on what has been pushed on society, that education is based on all the things you mentioned, and that you need to have an certified teacher to be in charge. None of this is true. You have a right to your opinion, but I am encouraging you to research, and truly understand what homeschooling/unschooling is about. Again, sadly we live in a world where people believe education needs to be what they have been told, based on all the things mentioned. People don’t question it, they just accept it, believing it’s what’s best. I highly encourage you to research read books, listen to podcasts, and talks on the issue. You’d be surprised at what you will actually learn regarding education, and teaching children.

These are just a few sources, there are countless. Again, Everyone has a right to their opinion. However, it makes me so sad and so angry that so many people have a negative view of homeschool, because they have been taught to see it that way. People are taught that school needs to be the things you mentioned, based off of other things you and others mentioned and we should just accept it because they know best, but that’s just not true. It does NOT have to be that way at all, if people did not just blindly accept that education needs to be what you posted, you would see different results. A sad reality of our world is that people no longer question things, especially when people of power and authority are saying them. Again, it saddens me to see, at least in the US people go from education system, to university racking up massive debt, as University in the US is crazy expensive. They spend years paying off there debt, many end up in jobs that are just jobs to pay the bills, and not careers they enjoy. They work looking forward to the weekend, spending their entire lives working the 9-5 mentality. They raise their kids the same way, as that is what the school system is designed to do, generation after generation. Not to mention the curriculum in so many places in the US at least, has gone downhill so much, and is failing students at this point, in many places it’s an absolute joke. Once again, everyone has a right to their opinion, but it makes me so sad and so angry that people have such a negative view on alternative forms of education, all because they have been taught to see things a certain way.

She's popping out her fifth kid at only 27?!? Woaaah... I'm older than her and childfree, but well, not that our lives havy any similarities at all.
I only watched a couple of her videos years ago. I think when she had the boy and was still doing make up videos... and then each time she would start a new baby series on YT the videos would show up in my feed again. I haven't followed her that closely, but I remember that corncerns about her third pregnancy being so close to the previous one, too. Like, giiiirl, staaahp. Take care of the kids and their needs you already have ok?
I watch and follow a lot of minimalism videos, but it is so clear (and quite annoying) how at some point she just changed her aesthetic on the surface and started doing 'minimalism', mainly by styling her house in grey and beige stuff. Btw, producing five kids in five years or so - not very minimal. It's like she's making it a competition with.... women in general.
But yeah, I have picked up some VERY problematic tones from her too, the wife/husband talk, etc... I have never ever heard anyone that age talk about religion and marriage that way, but it's also not the norm here in Germany. I also thought she was from the US. She gives off such weird, arrogant vibes, can't imagine what she's gonna be like when she's in her mid-thirties with five teenagers, who will hopefully think for themselves...

I agree with everything you say. I actually told her she was coming across as rather smug, and she replied " what can I say? I'm a smug person"

Homeschooling as is common in the US is basically illegal here in Germany as a child needs to learn and develop outside of their cozy home, with only their parents as influence and mentors. It is actually what builds our character, communication skills, preserverance, and much more when we find ourself in a challenging new environment like a classroom. It is exciting and broadens our children's horizon to learn from other kids and adults from different backgrounds and is so inspiring. And no, school wasn't easy or comfortable for me, but it is shaping and I can't imagine having spent my whole childhood only with my parents and only being told what THEY know from THeIR particular view point.
Then you have the US where it is possible that two young people, with random or no background in education are allowed to "teach" their kids only from the Bible, not much attention or interest in natural sciences for example...

I encourage you to take time to research why people actually choose to homeschool. Your comment seems very misinformed. The things you mentioned can ALL be accomplished via homeschooling.

I am grateful beyond words I was homeschooled, I also learned all the things you mentioned above.

I mean no disrespect, but I encourage you to research why people homeschool. There are so many reasons, and that list continues to grow. When I have children they absolutely be homeschooled/unschooled.

The stuff about Rachel in particularly is unsurprising. Rachel is such a gorgeous woman, but I can imagine what growing up in Sarah's shadow was like.

I've watched her Instagram stories just now, where she showe a text from her husband encouraging her not go forget to eat when she was out and about. In fact he encouraged her to eat a burger or two. Of course it IS NICE that he cares about her so deeply. But I have just noticed that Sarah is looking sooooo thin! She's wearing shorts and her legs actually look fragile to me. Perhaps its due to metabolic changes after birthing five babies in quick succession?

I will end this conversation as well, because clearly we are not going to agree. I will say one last thing: don’t be afraid to question things: don’t be afraid to question someone who has a medical degree, don’t be afraid to question someone in politics, don’t be afraid to question the meaning of what an education is, simply because you have been taught something your whole life. Don’t be afraid to question things going on in the world right now. You have a right to your opinion, but I sincerely hope people one day start questioning things more, INCLUDING what it means to get an education.

I found her when I was looking for maternity style videos not featuring Shein hauls and lingered a little because I liked her style. But boy, does it get problematic quickly. I hid her channel when she said she’d still love her children even if they turned out to be gay because Jesus loves a sinner, or something along those lines.

I remember following her initially probably about 10 years ago from a head shaving video she did which is no longer on her channel when she did more beauty/makeup videos - these have all been deleted now. Does anyone ever remember pre-minimalism and I think after baby 2 that there was a big drama about the baby’s bedroom actually being a walk-in closet with no windows and just a cot in, and she went on a huge rant about how they couldn’t afford a bigger house because they were hardly bringing in any money. Stopped watching after that when she continued having kids and started expressing she was anti abortion.

Don't remember that, but it might be why she googled what the most viewed videos were at the time and started her whole minimali$$$m "aesthetic"... whereas her creepy, lazy "head-of-the-family"-husband was like what...waiting around for her to bring in more money....?! It's so creepy how he's always lurking in the background, rarely smiles while on camera and you don't even see him playing, being loving with all their kids much, while Sarah does all the cleaning and homeschooling (and most of the talking)...
Also, yeah, grand idea to reproduce nonstop, while having money struggles and how are these two 20-somethings even coping giving each small child their deserved attention?
