I'm coming back here later as I'm out & can't read but trust me when I say I'm fighting back tears for this result.

Well done that jury. God I wish I was there to see their faces.

Interesting that they've named BB's sister. Wonder if she's the one who told BB to put the Qu'ran on and pray after hearing Sara was beaten. I will never, ever understand the lack of action on their part.

:rolleyes:Yep - you called it early with the Jinn excuse Tilaire. As if you aren't exactly the same as an evil spirit if you decide to beat 'it' out of the child

That poor little girl had nobody to protect her. I dread to imagine what the other children witnessed.

I'm not sure whether I believe the abuse escalated because of the uncle moving in, simply because this kind of abuse always escalates. It'll be interesting to see what comes out about the family when reporting restrictions are lifted after the verdict

It's clear, to me at least, that BB was abused and controlled by US and that doesn't excuse her but I keep seeing people say that they think she was the more sadistic. Possibly justified in this case because of the "probable human bite marks". However, I think it's interesting that this is what people are preferring to believe, in spite of evidence to the contrary. Even after evidence has been given in court that US was biting and burning children before he ever knew BB, I'm still seeing that narrative. It's strange to me that we, as society, would rather think that US was just a violent oaf, beating and punching because that's natural to men, unthinking, primal violence but it's BB who's scheming and inventing torture methods. I wonder why we prefer that version? Men have been inventing and carrying out torture methods for centuries but as soon as a woman becomes involved in a crime of this nature, she's the one that is seen as sadistic

Wow all of the dad's previous offenses have been disclosed. What an evil man.
And still SS didn’t think the schools concerns were worth further action.

the mind boggles. Unless they come up with some big defence on this out of nowhere, the team that did that are criminally negligent IMO.

Never mind all the previous failings. There’s a point at which being underfunded is no longer an excuse for missing obvious danger and Sara’s reached that numerous times yet nothing of substance was done despite the history. And presumably now the trial is over and the case review is next, this is the thread for it all.

He'll get huge compensation for this now, we'll pay for his health care, his legal bills and for the compensation he'll be entitled to because he wasn't adequately protected in prison
What the hell does he expect, no prisoner has 24 hour protection, not even in segregation. He's lucky he's still breathing...for now. May every day be a bad day for the evil swine.

Older son encouraged to bully Sara because US made him believe that she was inferior to him.

BB was concerned about losing her children to SS. It’s much worse than that, they're in a different country and she’s in jail.
And her twins were accessing the appropriate education and support in the UK. They’ve lost that and that will influence the rest of their lives.

I know we knew how bad things were but listening to the judge is heartbreaking. Him slapping her away, them only abusing Sara because she was a girl. Sara, you deserved so much better.

During their time in court FM and US both testified separately that they didn't 'learn' to corporally punish children from their family of origin - both said their parents were calm and loving, both parents too, dad and mum. So if that's true (and it could just be an agreed lie so the children stay in Pakistan) - surely FM would have spoken up and intervened to protect Sara? Recognised how abnormal US and BB's parenting was? Dread to think how that eldest boy is doing if I'm honest. It does lend to a conversation about gender based violence - she was killed because she's a girl and we are socially conditioned to see girls as less from the beginning. Less deserving of safety, less deserving of pay, pain relief, space in the playground, jobs and on and on. Add to that society's view on children too. And cultural differences. What a mess.

Had to step away from this case for a while, once the verdicts came in. The issues are so deeply rooted in culture and society it's difficult to see how we change the tide.

the kids were all removed from Olga and BB stopped her from seeing them
The child death overview is going to make for startling reading.

I think it's important that the judge made it clear that the minimum term does not guarantee release at that time or anytime after. If they ever are released they will be on license for the rest of their lives. They will not receive normal freedom.

They may never be released.

If FM ever does anything else this will massively go against him.

I know exactly how hard it is to leave an abusive relationship, especially when you’re isolated, but this was a CHILD being TORTURED. BB not only witnessed it, but took part in it.

She could have phoned an ambulance.
She could have phoned the police.
She could have told anyone at the airport.

She is no less culpable than him.
Ditto. Leaving an abusive relationship is hard. Even with a support system. It is absolute hell and nobody should ever try and dismiss that or make out it's easy.

However, help is there. Help is available. Help is offered and it was her choice not to take it.

Sara is dead. As much because of BB as because of US.

She didn't attempt to gain medical help. She didn't attempt to get police help. She didn't attempt to escape.

She was involved in the abuse. It was happening when BB was home without the other two. Her texts show her summoning US to punish Sara. Her orders show her ordering the packing tape.

The hoods, the restraints, the burns and the bite marks.

He wasn't doing this alone. She was as involved as him.

Fuck off with the poor little victim act. There is an actual victim. A ten year old - defenceless - little girl is dead. Sara was tortured and murdered by both of them.

Thank god for that. May they never rest another day in their pathetic, miserable lives. I hope she haunts them forever.
Rest in peace Sara ❤
