Yeah, obviously there are extenuating circumstances around her and it’s not her fault US is such a bleep.

I guess mostly the idea of a child who, as far as we know, was raised as a practising Muslim and likely had her own beliefs around that being given a Catholic funeral and that seemingly, per PP, being emphasised now as a dig to the father just doesn’t sit right with me.

I know US wasn’t adherent to his religion, but based on what has been said Sara was. And that’s the part that’s important to me. Not what religion either parent was.

Sara was the only one to wear the hijab and that was forced upon her as a way to cover bruises and injuries etc. It was nothing to do with her religious beliefs.

Olga has been reported to have a learning disability so may not understand that another faith has difderent rituals after death. She buried her child how she thought best.

Also, US asked for a Muslim funeral but this was also prevented by his own behaviour. It couldn't happen as her body was being examined for evidence.

I don't believe that Sara had particular religious leanings. It was used by US and BB as a reason why she was wearing the hijab. We all know it was to hide the results of the abuse.

Honestly I couldn’t possibly begrudge Olga for burying her daughter the way she felt was best. Islam was a religion of Sara’s murderers, I completely understand her not considering this for her daughter under these circumstances. I believe funerals are for the survivors/family/loved ones, not the deceased (although also realise this is not necessarily a mainstream view)

To put it bluntly, it comes down to mad or bad. Olga wasn’t bad, she was she wasn’t able to cope, to be fair with 3 kids in a foreign country, probably little support, having been in an abusive relationship and potentiality learning disabilities it’s not a surprise. Meanwhile these two holes were quite capable of caring appropriately for children and chose to torture Sara.

Exactly this.

They were clearly not living by their faith. Islam principles were used to cover her injuries and deflect the spotlight.

It doesn't make them religious.

Sara was buried by her mum in her mum's faith. Presumably, the faith she would have been raised with if she had stayed with her mum.

I agree with this. I've heard nothing to suggest any issues with her oldest child before US came along. Who amongst us would be our best selves if we were trapped in a relationship with the likes of him?

Sent to a new place where they don’t know anyone.
They will have been institutionalised so probably unable to cope in a new world.

Basically, a living hell! Oh dear!
Might even be worse than staying in a safe warm environment in prison.

Hopefully US will be deported straight from prison. FM should be too. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-immigration, but if you commit serious crimes such as this, you have no right to be here

I get the sympathy towards Olga but I’m not entirely sure that she is blameless in the whole thing either, it very much sounds like she was also abusive towards Sara and her other children. Given that, taking Sara over to Poland and burying her in a religion Sara didn’t seem to follow at all also doesn’t quite seem like it’s quite what Sara deserved either.

She probably wasn’t blameless, but the abuse Sara suffered in that house wasn’t in any way Olga’s fault.

Sara didn’t have an opportunity to explore a religion - and they certainly weren’t devout Muslim - so IMO if Olga gets some comfort in a Catholic burial than that’s better than a religion which was only used as a convenience to hide injuries.

Agree. I think Rose West is another one who met the wrong man and probably wouldn’t have done anything had he not begun grooming and then raping her when she was a teenager.

I think a lot of folie a deux criminals are like that, they probably wouldn’t not have committed crimes as extreme as some of them did had they not met each other.

It’s absolutely true that it’s possible to end up in a relationship (or friendship) that brings out your absolute worse qualities. I’ve been there and that’s why I’m now verrry careful about who I let in my life!

I agree about Rose to an extent but Rose was very mentally ducked up and I honestly don’t think anything could undo that after a certain point. Being grape by her own father then molesting her own brothers (possibly because she didn’t know any different at that age) and continuing on to harm Fred’s daughter and her own I believe? She had a very ducked up father and also Fred was a pedophile too. I have sympathy for her childhood but anything past that is a choice. There are many who go through similar and don’t go on to assault people themselves. I think had someone cared, got her out early and put her in intensive therapy she may have been okay but she’s just too messed up in the head.

Weirdly enough I was talking to my boyfriend about this tonight as we were Discussing Lucy Letby (because of all the new info) and how she’s part of the only 4 women to be imprisoned for life in the UK. He was shocked that barely anyone is actually in jail for life due to the amount of abhorrent crimes we see against children in particular. Even seeing the news today about Sara, he was shocked they could ever be offered parole, even if they’re old. The “justice” system is a joke

Do we know why Sara was in the UK away from her mum? I’m absolutely scunnered with the fact this little girl was known to social services and nothing was done about any of it. How many more kids are they going to just allow to die because they can’t be arsed to help? I’ve been thinking about this little angel constantly, I didn’t even think to check for a Tattle thread until I saw it on the “new posts” bit. So many people failed her, I hope she’s resting well and I’m glad her mum managed to give her the funeral she deserved

Her Mum possibly decided to go back to Poland to be around her family after losing custody/access to Sara and her brother? Or maybe the post-Brexit stuff played a part If she had been in the UK for a long time she would have been able to apply for pre-settled/settled status but it was a bit of an ordeal so maybe she decided it was just in her best interests to go back to Poland, or didn’t understand she could apply for the status?

I think Olga had more than three children, I think one remained in Poland and one came with her to UK.

I know someone who was offered 6 Hammond Road by the local authority, she declined on the basis she could not knowingly live in the house with her children after Sara was tortured and murdered in it.

I didn’t say that the abuse from US and BB was in any way Olga’s fault though - I said that it sounds like she was also abusive towards Sara and her other children.

What I didn't fully appreciate is that Sara had an older brother who was also Olga & US child and therefore stepchild to BB - but he wasn't abused. So it looks like gender-based violence was a big part of this.
