I guess @PeteM meant one can be non-binary in different ways (not only the gender route), eg not liking something “traditionally male” also means you go against the tide ie are non-binary vs the great majority of people. At least that’s how I interpreted the post - he didn’t imply not liking football makes you non-binary (gender-wise)

We bought tickets to see him in London years ago- travelled down from oop north and realised once we checked in to the hotel that neither of us were really bothered anymore. Ordered takeaway and stayed in rather than go to the concert.
I think his early stuff was ok- bit whiny. The male adele really.

I am not the biggest Sam Smith fan but credit to him for having a wonderful group of mates that look out for him. It must have been so frustrating for him that instead of being approached the proper way to ask for a photo she tried to film the situation for TikTok views and kept shouting his name which will draw attention to others that he's around when he's trying to have a night out with pals. She went about getting her photo completely wrong.

I must confess that up until a few days ago, I had never heard any of Sam Smith's music, he just isn't my cup of tea. So I searched on YouTube for some of his earlier work, his music is fairly unremarkable. No amount of trendy marketing, will make me like his music.
One more thing, I am not being disrespectful in refusing to acknowledge his so called gender identity. I am excercising my right to express an opinion. I really dislike being told what to think by the media.

His mother was SACKED from her city job because she was spending all her time at work trying to start her son's career.

I get your point, but as a mother of 2 young boys, I worry about the crap they are going to see before they are adults. I would like my kids to be well adjusted, respectful of women, not perverts etc. The stats regarding children being subjected to porn are shocking and definitely concerning. I certainly didn't see any porn videos until I was an adult. Whilst not porn exactly, his most recent video isn't far from it. Fetishes belong behind closed doors, thank you please.

On top of that, gender ideology is dangerous. It has become a fad, but one that could potentially physically and mentally harm our kids and is slowly affecting womens' rights, sport, rights, awards etc etc. Regardless of all that, I'm not sure I buy it from Sam anyway. I can't help but feel this gender bollocks is a result of the backlash against him crying in his mansion over lockdown. Distraction tactic.

It’s not any celebrity’s job to teach your kids though? I don’t get that argument. I grew up watching all sorts of raunchy shit, rnb and rap have always notoriously been wild and xrated but my parents taught me well and even at a young age I could understand it was just entertainment. The only way your kids will be affected by Sam smith or anything similar is if you’re the type that just shoves them in front of the tv or lets them loose on the internet. I worry how little faith so many parents seem to have in their ability to raise kids that they blame everyone but themselves.

and yep I agree with you on the gender stuff, but someone simply asking to be called they them in their everyday life not the same as men infringing on women’s rights. I pick my battles and pronouns are the bottom of the list when it comes to the harm that gender politics is currently causing women
