Sam, you're not a quing. You're just a man in a dress. It's been done by male musicians since at least the 70s (and usually a lot better, as well). Love how it makes Sam act like he's the Second Coming or something 🙄

It’s BS isn’t it. He’s a man, you should not get sh*t for saying as much.
That it is. I personally don't care either way. If someone decides they want to be known as a frigging Dolphin, if it makes them happy then fine but they can't force others to bow down to their wishes and use Flipper when talking about them if they don't want to.

They say it's a free country and Sam can have the pronouns that Sam wishes which is true but it has to work both ways and they (his fans, not Sam lol) can't go postal on anyone who decides not to use it.

Those claiming its homophobia have missed the success of Little Nas X, It's A Sin, Olly Alexander, Heartstopper, Drag Race etc etc.

I feel like someone is having a laugh at his expense. His recent antics remind me of those clueless and talentless folks you see on shows like X Factor, who couldn't carry a tune in a bucket but their family is there bigging them up and convincing them they're Beyonce. I think someone in his team is there telling him he looks fab and is bossing it, when very clearly he looks a right state and is just embarrassing himself.

Every time I see him I think he looks like someone's pissed up, recently divorced, aunt. Who's gone totally off the rails to show her ex husband what he's missing.

A breakdown will be hitting in T minus....
I agree. You just know his assistants and managers are telling him "slayyyyy" and " you are doing great, sweetie".

You can hear the presenters on radio 1 take a breath and pause before they say his pronoun cos they're so scared of getting it wrong and their whole career ending.
It's ridiculously unfair for them to feel such pressure AND ask them to buy into the madness.

Lawd, but Sam Smith is a great singer, but lacking in the personality department. I'm not their target audience, but them trying to be sexy is just repulsive. Smacks of trying too hard when they just look like they're playing dress up.

Talented, but a pain

I have to shout at Alexa to stop when his songs are on the radio, he fucks me off that much.
Urrggghh, sick of seeing him all over my socials..

Why do men who claim to be gender neutral always dress like women?, and I for one am sick of seeing their flabby arse in women's bikini Bottoms.
Because they know they can more attention as women so dress like that. None of the clothes he wears are flattering. It makes him look a joke. A shame as his music used 2 b really good.

I have had people on other boards who PM me calling me everything under the sun because I dared say He. I don't really need the hassle so I was playing it safe. My personal pronoun for Sam is arsehole.

Well it has come to my attention that this pillock has requested a 70 ft version of himself to be built as part of his stage for his upcoming tour. What an absolute weapon this bloke is.

Am all for body positivity and if Sam and his pals are they should have lots of podgy people in the video instead of just Podgy Sam.

Explain that Sam?

It’s not any celebrity’s job to teach your kids though? I don’t get that argument. I grew up watching all sorts of raunchy shit, rnb and rap have always notoriously been wild and xrated but my parents taught me well and even at a young age I could understand it was just entertainment. The only way your kids will be affected by Sam smith or anything similar is if you’re the type that just shoves them in front of the tv or lets them loose on the internet. I worry how little faith so many parents seem to have in their ability to raise kids that they blame everyone but themselves.

and yep I agree with you on the gender stuff, but someone simply asking to be called they them in their everyday life not the same as men infringing on women’s rights. I pick my battles and pronouns are the bottom of the list when it comes to the harm that gender politics is currently causing women
Doesn’t this completely discount the well proven concept that social media does influence young people, significantly? A young child shouldn’t have access to social media, but young teens do. Hasn’t it been well proven that young people are significantly influenced by pornography, images, body image, violent sex acts? The rise in eating disorders, self harm, violence against women is not going away, it's worse

Do you have kids, or you are just someone who was once a child? I feel like you have an idealism about what it’s like to be a parent in modern times with the internet being so influential. I mean do you suggest its parents fault if kids see porn imagery and clothing on the Spotify playlist images, or songs entirely about sex acts on radio 1. It’s normal now, it’s not easy to escape it and it’s even harder for parents to manage it.

Of course parents want to protect their kids from mainstream imagery that is adult and porn influenced. Young teens dressing up or wanting to dress in PCV, chains, chokers and rubbing their nips in the name of ‘fashion’ would be inappropriate, no?

The reason I think it’s impactful it’s not just that sam looks stupid or I find it disgusting its that it’s just clearly a marketing ploy, there is no way of knowing whether this is ‘genuinely sam’ and their new style now, having stylists making a name for themselves, everyone is talking about Sam and it’s making Sam money, so no I don’t have to buy into it’s just freedom of expression just because you think it’s art - maybe it’s not?

You can’t use Madonna as an example. She is an absolute mess, has no music out and is now a joke
Cardi B took loads of flack
Lady Gaga has changed her image quite a lot since she got taken more seriously

If you lop the bottom off, it makes Sam look as if Sam is wearing an even weirder pair of boots:

End of the day the song isn't very good. The last one was alright and had some good samples. Can't think this one will do anything.

Sam has two nights at the O2 to sell, and there's still plenty of tickets left. Good luck with that.

Feels better to fade out than to attach yourself to gimmicks that miss the mark. There's no such thing as bad publicity stopped being true decades ago.
