For someone obsessed with AESS-THATIC and wanting everything to look good...her insta post from yesterday is a mess. So difficult to read and people are calling it out in the comments.

I read this one as "loved the virginity" and was absolutely stunned for a hot second
"LOVED
tGe Jlihᴎtlч
lacer
juveᴎlliabч
Brontë"

What demons is she trying to summon with her garbled incantations this week?

Ruby: "The more I work on my PhD application, the more excited I am."

Ruby's excitement level:

Daddy Bones is clearly just as excited about having his parasitic offspring living at home for the rest of her life pretending she's TWALVE FOREAVVER:

Any one else having flash backs to thr daddy bones phase we went through on here and questioning our sanity?

Ruby: "... but I WOULD be interested as to like what word was used in the Spanish..."

Italo Calvino was Italian.

(To be fair, her edition is somehow translated from a translation, but Ruby, if you have no clue, you could google him or something.
I'm getting Goethe-gate flashbacks.)

I’m wheezing - one of my favourite channels, Tasting History with Max Miller, just uploaded a video on how he made real Victorian sugar plums. The process took him three days and this is how they look:

Meanwhile, Roobee ”loosely followed a Victorian recipe” and came up with this:

and let’s not forget her immortal artistic rendition of a dancing sugarplum:

Another gaping hole in her knowledge of Christmas traditions… and remember, Ruby did a year of theology at Essex University and is spending the whole month stoddying Christmas traditions.

Watching the new video and what the actual fuck 😂 😂 around 15 minute mark she shows off her favorite notebooks. "So these are basically the ones that have a very specific purpose, and I write down, like, the use of all of my different notebooks in ANOTHER notebook."

She has a notebook to write down what she uses the other notebooks for. You can't make this up omg

I don't understand the immense praise in her comments. I'm shocked how many of them don't realize that she can barely form any coherent original thoughts outside of what the internet has said about these books. So far I'm researching the books she is mentioning, and she is barely going beyond the basic content of the book into any meaningful analysis. I would be embarrassed to be posting this same video year after year without any noticeable improvement in her comprehension of the books she is "reading."
Let's check at her fanbase:

- Kids searching for a rolemodel. Most of them are probably not among the cool ones of their school and bullied ( but for real not like Ruby), seeing that an uncool weirdo managed to gain a fanbase and make money and views of it give them a moral boost. They are ready to tear anyone virtually to shreds if their rolemodel is criticized because through her, it's themselves which are criticized. And they praise to be noticed.

- Older ladies. Most of them don't have kids, or have unruly/not interested in school/disrespectful kids and for them, Ruby being the 'perfect' daughter, polite, sweet, studying, good at school, helping at home, organised and modest clothing, represents all they wished their kids would be ( you also find lot of comments of youngers saying that their parents would like them being like Ruby). So they ignore the bad sides and praise her.

- Predators. Perverts, borderline incels & people sharing that type of opinions on women. They tend to love innocent looking women, modest ones and virgins. Ruby with her clothing, her content, her lack of love life and most of all, and that's the most disgusting part: her child like look. These ones will praise in hope of a return.

- Attention wh*res. These ones praise every one, wanting to be noticed at all cost. They will compliment every youtuber they feel less far away from them.

That sums up pretty much her fanbase and explains pretty well the absolutely not deserved praise she get in comments.

My favourite part was when she was talking about long books and how you really have to make sure it’s a good book, because in the same time, you could read three short books. It’s all about numbers for her.

Oh and the other book, where she got an advance copy but didn’t get around to reading it until it was already out, and she shows herself reading it with a bookmark about 80% of the way through, and then says ”thank you so much for sending me this, I can’t wait to read it!” Which is it, Rootabaga? Have you actually been reading it or just pretending?

She busts out the lie-squint almost immediately in that Oxford reel and the dishonesty floodgates never close.

Ruby: "I've always been ayy STWAUNCHLEE INDEPANDANT LAHHRNAR and didn't loike tyoo communicate about moiy stoddies varry moch."

Did Ruby forget that she's had a studytube channel for nearly a decade in which she kept shouting about what and how much she was STODDYING?

Did she forget that she kept telling people that throughout her degree at AXATAR, she was constantly having hours-long pre-seminar prep meetings and post-lecture "debriefs" with Blakeney and couldn't get through a single module or assignment without Blakeney explaining things and doing everything for her?

Did she forget that she clearly struggled to learn anything by herself, required huge amounts of peer and tutor support to understand basic concepts and get work done, and took anything any adult at school said as gospel?

But nope, she did everything herself, learned everything on her own and now Oxford taught her the life-long lesson that NO STYEEDUNT IS AN OISLAND, teachers serve a purpose, and LAAAHRNING can be done communally in conversation.

While shouting that she's tossed aside her imaginary "do everything myself" approach to academia and has LAARNED A NEW WAY OF LAAAAHRNING (i.e. the traditional way) and has LAARNED THAT LAAAHRNING SHOULD BE DONE WITH OTHHA PEEPOL AND SHE SHOULD COMMUNICATE ABOUT HAAHR STODDIES, she apparently also forgot that this is supposedly her YAAAHR OF INDEPANDANT LAHHHRNING, which she refuses to talk about with anyone (because no learning is happening and it's just a sham to appear productive).

The utterly incoherent rewriting of history is completely insane. How embarrassing that Ruby was so sheltered and apparently learned absolutely nothing at Oxford that she has to resort to the usual blathering lies to come up with things to talk about to explain her time there.

Ruby's favourite STODDY SPWOT at AWKSFWUD is the DEW-KUMFREES LOIBREE. You may remember this from her Oxford vlogs - it's where "HARRY PWOTTUM" was filmed, and Ruby loved the library so much that she seemingly just forgot she'd been there before and her "first ever" visit there happened about three different times.

Ruby says she can sum up her Oxford experience in one sentence: "Oiy FOINALLY ONDERSTAAHND whOIY it's knyown as theee city of dreaming spoires." Ruby does not elaborate. It seems like that's something a 5 second Google search could clear up for her and didn't require her to burn a year of her life at Oxford.

I can sum up Ruby's Oxford experience in a haiku:

Moping in LOIBREES.
Nothing LAHHRNED, missing mummy.
THARTEE grand wasted.

Her story changes every time she tells it. It's the one thing I miss about the annual 'Anti-Bullying Week' videos she had to stop doing due to the criticism she inspired with every one - it was always funny seeing how much her story had changed again.

Ruby: "I was never bullied, I just enjoy books where people get bullied for being too smart and gifted."
Ruby: "OIY JOST REALOISED THAT I WAS BOLLIED ACKSHAULLY! It JANUNELY happened, I just forgot about it until now. Please buy my new semi-autobiographical book where someone (ME!) gets bullied for being too smart and gifted."
Ruby: "The big difference between me and Erimentha Parker - the main character in my book - is that Erimentha didn't realise she was being bullied. But when I got bullied, I knew it all along!"
Ruby: "The thing that helped me move past bullying was to just ignore it. At the time, I didn't tell anyone, I just practised stoicism - a philosophy that I learned about several years later."
Ruby: "The thing that helped me move past bullying was not to ignore it. Tell a teacher and a therapist, like I did. It worked wonders!"
Ruby: "I would recommend not telling teachers or adults if you get bullied. It didn't help me and it might make things worse."
Ruby: "You should just forgive your school bullies and move on, like I did. Now please excuse me while I make videos about how I was bullied at school long into my twenties."
Ruby: "I was bullied in year 7."
Ruby: "I was bullied in year 10."
Ruby: "Actually, it was year 9."
Ruby: "No, wait! Year 6!"
Ruby: "It was every year of school!"
Ruby: "OIY'VE BEEN BOLLIED SINCE BARTH!"

I'm firmly in camp 'Ruby was never bullied, but latched onto the trope that kids get bullied for being too smart and bookish, so she needed that as part of her 'kind bookworm' repertoire. She read a lot of middle-grade mean girl books, thought she could write her own ripoff and that claiming it was autobiographical would sell more copies, so she suddenly "realised" she was bullied just in time for the book announcement.

I'm sure she was unpopular at school considering how much of a judgemental, self-aggrandising little weasel she took pride in being (which really shines through in Erimentha Parker, where she paints those as virtuous traits). I'm sure people made the kind of mean comments that all schoolkids hear at some point. I don't believe she encountered anything beyond that.

It says a lot that in her bullying videos, she could never come up with a single believable example of bullying and seemed incapable of distinguishing bullying from constructive criticism. And in her supposedly autobiographical self-insert book depicting her bullying experience that she claims lasted all of her school life, all examples of bullying are cartoonishly unbelievable.

Makes me wonder about the situation with her living at home. Can we be so certain mum and dad want to kick her out, given she earns more in her business than most of the country and could easily move out at the drop of a hat? It would be easy for them to do it, if they wanted to. No guilt, because it's not like she'd be homeless. Maybe they actually love their anxious daughter, and are happy to have her around. Stranger things have happened.
My stance on this is that they don't care either way, and her mother might even prefer Ruby to be around. Not every parent wants to kick their kids out as soon as they turn 18, and they certainly don't lack the space to accommodate her in that huge manor. Ruby keeps to herself and acts insane in ways that don't really hinder what's going on around the house. Her mother looks like a lonely woman to me and Ruby's clinginess might even be encouraged, who knows.

If Ruby wanted to move out, she would have, and if the parents wanted her out, I think they would arrange it. An adult child living with their parents in an arrangement that is mutually acceptable isn't the adulthood crisis people make it to be tbh. I have so many issues with Ruby but her still living at home isn't on my list. Her aversion to adulthood manifests in ways much worse than her current address.

It's "CommonPlacing" - she was filming the YEECHEEB version of her commonplacing video on the day she tossed that on her planner.

She's still in the process of figuring out that "commonplace" is one word since she keeps writing it both ways:

Maybe after her 7th gap year she'll have it figured out.

Her new insta story about getting rejected from Oxford for undergrad: “It was the best thing that could’ve happened to me in terms of growth, in terms of where I am now”.

What planet does she live on?

Get rejected from Oxford and you too could live permanently in your childhood bedroom, regress mentally to your preteens and play with your mouse house!

Surely ”compile” isn’t a straight-up synonym for ”pile up” in the intransitive form? She claims she tries to do 5 or 10 minutes of commonplacing every evening, because ”otherwise it just compiles” 😬 Or is my ESL showing 😂

I'd say she's not feeling festive this year because she's just completely isolated in the manor, doing the same ole thing every single day, so Christmas is not any different from every single other day in Rubyland now. In years past, she'd be coming home from Exeter or having a winter break from school, so it was exciting to come home and celebrate. But she's been sitting in her bedroom for how many months now, "doing" her self-stoddying?

Jade: "I'm going to try to find a guest that pairs with the episode before."

I think what Jade means to say is: "I'm going to feature whatever Sixteenth influencer my manager tells me to that week and make sure to plug their channel/merch without declaring my ties to them." First Ruby, next Tam Kaur - three guesses who she's managed by...

Jade does everything possible to avoid declaring those business ties. Ruby's "a dear friend" who Jade gushes that she's "so lucky to know in person". They even go through a whole "how do we know each other" in which they do an embarrassingly bad job of tip-toeing around just saying that they share the same managers and they get paired up twice a year by their managers to advertise each other's shit undeclared. They even bring up Jack Edwards and Eve Cornwell, who are "also YouTubers who are friends of ours" - zero mention of them all sharing the same managers.

There's a hell of a lot of rewriting history going on, too. Jade introduces Ruby with some ego-stroking nonsense about Ruby going on a wild journey after starting out as a studytuber who awakened the joy of learning and helped de-stress frazzled young students - she's an "anti-bullying advocate" who "radiates kindness".

Untitle675675756757d - Copy.png

It conveniently glosses over the 7-8 years in which Ruby has used staged "OIY STODDIED 47 HOWARS IN ONE DAY!" vlogs to instil impossible study goals and toxic productivity habits in children so that they can feel inferior to her when weighed up against her fake accomplishments. Unsurprisingly, no mention of the charity scams, merch scams, that she had to scrap her annual "anti-bullying" videos because the dangerously out-of-touch "advice" courted waves of backlash and controversy. But she "radiates kindness". Sure, Jan Jade.

I'm also not sure where this "journey" happened. Ruby started out as a studytuber making poor-quality staged videos full of lies meant to inspire envy in gullible kids and is still a studytuber making poor-quality staged videos full of lies meant to inspire envy in gullible kids. She looks substantially older and more miserable now though, so I guess that's a journey? Ruby brags that she's moved on from academic perfectionism and no longer places such weight on grades, which is a charade she goes through whenever she's not in a position to get grades. When she is, she still does all the same toxic shit.

No surprise, focus is placed on Ruby's Oxford rejection, because this group of dimwit studytubers will never get over every one of them being rejected from their first-choice unis after making endless videos about rote memorisation being the key to study success. Together they try to continue painting Ruby's Masters at Oxford as some kind of triumph over adversity.

Jade claims it's "a testament to not letting rejection define you", yet that's exactly what this was, for all of them. Ruby doggedly pursued Oxford just to say she went to Oxford, got in when the bar was lower and money did more talking and was absolutely miserable there. Now she's gearing up for another few years of the same. There was no "authentic joy" or passion for learning involved, no interest in studying at the place that afforded the best teaching experience for her, and no moving past rejection and making the most of life. Ruby just wanted to brute force her way into Oxford and openly admitted that she had zero interest in pursuing a Masters if it didn't get her into Oxford, thoroughly willing to waste years of her life and burn tens of thousands in cash over it.

The same happened with Jack Edwards, who kept applying to Oxford and only Oxford, got rejected every time and never showed any interest in studying at all after that. And Jade has spent the years since her Oxford rejection with a mountain-sized chip on her shoulder about it. None of these clowns really wanted or needed to go to Oxford outside of the entitled need to attend "the best school" after building themselves up as the best and brightest despite all evidence to the contrary.

Untitle6756757d - Copy.png

Jade and Ruby take credit for pioneering the podcast industry because their managers threw them together for a similarly terrible podcast which died swiftly back in...(checks date)...2019. So, y'know, just 10-15 years after podcasts became a big thing. The podcast in question was The Wooden Spoon, but according to Ruby it was called "The Wodden Spyeen". She's heard it pronounced both ways, I'm sure.

Ruby at least seems less robotic when paired with another person, but this whole thing feels so staged, especially when they're talking about being apprehensive of meeting each other for the first time in case their online persona was an act and they were much different in person. You can practically see the talking point notes their managers handed them. Jade is delighted to tell everyone that there's no other version of Ruby and what you see online is real. Meanwhile, Ruby is talking in a cartoonishly fake accent and wearing fake freckles while sitting through an hour-long, scripted-by-her-management ad for her channel-full of faked vlogs. There's a bottomless ocean of irony there.

I could only make it through 15 minutes of this self-indulgent crap. I expected that this was going to be a Sixteenth circle-jerk, but I didn't expect it would feel this staged. The permanent smug smirks on both of them doesn't help sell it, either. The whole thing feels like a bad parody video.
