Remember when she did that odd giveaway for students/teachers to contact her to give away a free planner to their entire class? I don’t know how many people entered but we never heard if there was a winner.

I’m not surprised they’re not selling well. You can get the exact same thing, or better, for a lower price!

Well OBVIARSELY that is incorrect because it’s a definition from the Cambridge dictionary and Ruby is going to Hogwarts AXE-FORD.
Sorry, my mistake!

Though, please do note that this is the Oxford advanced learner's dictionary and, given the grasp ruby has of the English language, it might be a bit unfair to expect Roobee to know this.

I'm someone who absolutely loves to drive and it seems to be the only thing i'm great at (I'd like to thank my adhd for helping me notice every little thing on the road). BUT, recently, people have been driving fcking nuts and i only avoided incidents because i was quick enough to notice things.

I don't even blame kids for not wanting to drive now, but like, if you live in the middle of nowhere you NEED a car. (Sighs in living in the midwest USA, hardly any public transportation here... minus sketchy buses and decent trains in Chicago)

Who is even entertained/ motivated by her videos at this point?? I swear people watch her like she's a distressed tiger in a zoo doing laps in its enclosure where you're watching like "this is tragic you shouldn't be living this way" it's so depressing. I feel like if you want actually motivating content you go to Eve Bennett, and Eve Cornwell (even tho she seems to have given up YouTube and can be a bit cringe) bc at least they did something with their studying and grades

A "reasons to be happy" section is so problematic, honestly. Being happy isn't something achieved through "reason", Ruby. People who have mental health struggles can feel immense guilt about not being happy because they know they have many good things in their lives. Making a list of them isn't going to automatically create happiness.

For a planner aimed at young people, it isn't a good message.

You don’t need many original ideas or thoughts for a nine-month taught masters - there is plenty of support from the departmental staff in choosing appropriate topics for your work. I think where she would struggle most in a more recent masters that would actually be relevant (time-wise) to her interests would be the expectation to engage with literary theory and with challenging canonical texts from the Victorian or modern era.

She is basically counting on the idea that the early modern one will be a bit more skills / “studying” based because it’s older. That’s … an over simplification of the reality, but there is also, sort of, a nugget of truth in it. It isn’t enough to compensate for her poor preparation and lack of interest, though. I won’t go into more detail because honestly, I don’t think anyone is really interested in trends in early modern studies! 😂

Also, that's really really not the face of "extreme joy" fucking hell.

Aaaand there's a new video.

Her most recent video looks like it could be from years ago when she still actually attended school. It’s embarrassing 🫣 I currently attend evening lessons whilst working and could not imagine taking that much stuff with me to school. I mainly use my iPad since I can access digital versions of the course books instead of having to haul them around with me the whole day (work starts at 9 am and lessons end at 10 pm with no time to stop at home in between 🥲).

This just makes it more obvious that she does not have an interest in this course because if she did she would have done all of her pre-reading by now. If she thinks that SparkNotes is going to help her with the course then she is in for a rough ride IMO.
Do you think she understands that her research thesis can't just be about childrens books, it has to specifically be about children's literature from the 15th century? Of which I am really struggling to think of any. Even the Grimm bros were mid-late 16th century. She can't just blab on about the secret garden and matilda, she's going to have to dig in deep and spend HOURS digging through the archieves, trying to find pieces she can argue were written for children.

FYI, the Faerie Queene is not a childrens piece.

Just second into the new video. Who is this "we" she keeps talking about? "when we think of relaxation, when we think of free time activities, they do tend to be social things, and it's just not as acceptable tyo decide to do something by yourself for pleasure..." Again, just twenty seconds into the video, and she talks so much bullshit omg. Rumbster found herself a new shield called "an introvert" and will use it to defend herself against everything. This is, much like so many other things she used until now, part of her "not like other girls" issue.

She really can't let go of it, can she?

Now I'm off to watch the rest of the video, and will come back to read your glorious reviews

:m

I could see her sticking with Oxford, especially as her identity has been focused on it. She is focused on the aesthetic and being honest, it is going to be a source of content for her. She is going to have university vlogs, and lots of back-to-school videos as she is doing now etc., but she might use her master's at Oxford to be a source of authority.

She has not been coy with Oxford, unlike her job etc. If she leaves Oxford, it would be rather humiliating for her, especially as she has branded herself on the perfect student image.

I think that will struggle with Oxford as a masters is very different from than undergraduate degree, especially with the workload and the quality of work that is to be produced. This is from my own experience and I was only getting low firsts at most at undergraduate, compared to Ruby who did get high firsts but she did get help from Blakeney and her other methods.

Besides her disadvantage with the subject, Ruby just seems so much more focused on her writing than her coursework. She really likes the aesthetics of Oxford and the study aesthetics, and the busy work.

I'm not sure how it would work, but I think that she would get a master's regardless of the grades unless it was a fail. However, if she dropped out, she would be making videos about how she enjoys learning for fun and that formal education is restricting akin to what she had done once her dissertation was submitted.

This really is a mark of a rich person, if after going on holiday you can have a 'post-holiday reset routine'.
I am lucky if i get 4 days of free time in a row.

The bigger the bag, the bigger the carbon footprint. And why travel from Florence to Geneva when you can travel from Florence, back to the UK, and then to Geneva?
This! When you’re as JANUINELY VARRY VEEEGAN as Roobee is, you have to balance it out somehow.

She still hasn't changed the sheet that's been on her mattress for over 2 months, but she has dragged it halfway off the bed so that it can drape on the floor and collect even more dirt and dust.

I also work on a novel when I'm supposed to be reading 10+ texts in a month.

In her latest video, she mentions a quote she likes, BUT she says that she likes the quote in the voice-over when it's already passed by in the editing. Good job. Didn't get to see the quote without going back.

She can't wait to "study properly" but goes through summaries and spark notes for that study. Girl please. We can tell that you don't like The Faerie Queene. Not to mention that your book has a huge water stain.

Also, I had to turn the volume on YouTube up all the way because she speaks so low. Her computer overheated? I doubt it. She hardly uses it.

I agree with her that supplementary studying is good in some cases, but I feel like she uses supplementary way too much for someone that has a ton of reading and has barely done any of it.
