why is it called cupcakes when there are no cupcakes on the photo?
I haven't read or watched Matilda since I was little, but I don't recall there being any cupcakes in the book/film, either. Doesn't Bruce Bogtrotter eat a full chocolate cake?

This is so petty but I get the ick from Ruby’s “Choose Kindness” t-shirt. It reminds me of those studies people have done about how clothes for little girls are full of slogans about kindness and all that stuff while little boys’ clothes are all about adventure and being wild, a monster, etc. Ruby is (1) not a kind person at all; (2) basically just performative in everything she does, and has been since she was a teenager; (3) aping that “kindness” rhetoric because she thinks it makes her look like a good person and that people therefore shouldn’t criticise her.

No. Eww. Ruby, you’re not a six-year-old with your Mummy buying ill-conceived shirts for you from Next. Learn to be kind before plastering the word all over yourself.

1. I nominate this for thread title, even if it’s too early.
2. ChatGPT is, unfortunately, much more creative than Ruby:

[Closing scene with host waving, fade out to the title: "Bookish Things to Do When You're Bored"]
I wonder if Ruby has discovered that she can ask ChatGPT to do all her content creation for her. Once she does, it's over. The lies will reach new heights.

"Oi thought of this while taking my 690th walk through the meadews near my humble abewd, while reading two books and listening to another audio book at the same time. I didn't ask AI to write my content for me, januinely!" *squint and avert gaze*

do students not have to know basics in latin for an MA in Early modern lit to even be accepted to the course?
No, because Latin offering is so uneven depending on what type of education you have and within the UK. Most schools do not teach it at all, and the UK education system (at least within humanities) values equal access quite highly, so there are fairly big efforts not to create barriers to people coming from less privileged schooling contexts. Ruby could have had private Latin lessons at any time (even as a teenager), if it was a real interest of hers, but of course many people would not find it quite so easy to access that. It is possible to some extent to combine self teaching and grants / financial assistance for intensive courses.

Some universities offer catch-up courses for things like Latin if you want to learn enough to use it in early modern studies. There is good awareness now of how diverse people’s prior knowledge is (some have a very good training in Latin while others have 0). You can even do a classics degree at Oxford without having studied classics before, it’s just very intense!

The major problem for Ruby is that AI won't help with her video content because she'll still be expected to actually film and edit any ideas that AI comes up with.

So while it might spit out ideas that are more creative than her 25,000th morning routine rehash, she won't actually put in the work to make the video. The more creative the idea, the more she'll have to do to film and edit the video. She's far too lazy for that. She'd sooner just slap together a crappy rehashed vlog from time-lapse footage of her moping at her keyboard.

I can see her leaning on AI heavily for essays, writing and faux-intellectual Instagram posts. If we see a sudden improvement in the quality of her shitty poetry soon, it'll be abundantly clear why.

There is functionality with Turnitin to spot AI content. https://www.turnitin.com/solutions/ai-writing I imagine it doesn't catch everything though?
The danger is that it detects essays that are hand written by students as AI, so it's not safe at all, do not use it (I'v got flagged wrongly) ! There is no safe AI detector as or now. They best way to avoid ChatGPT as a teacher is to work through steps (meaning, for each essay/thesis, they have to hand an outline, an introduction etc each week for instance) and with paper as much as you can

She is the only person who does a new academic year prep video and talks about fountain ink, typewriters, and then an iPad unboxing all in the same video. It's like she can't figure out what aesthetic she is. A used iPad just weirds me out, I'm not sure why though.

My sister in CHRIST, clean your nails! The entire video she's just proudly got those hooves out on display like she's competing at the local Horse show or something.

I'm not at all making fun of the shape of her fingers and nails because I'm pretty sure that's a specific condition that some people have. I also don't judge regular people for having unkempt nails because regular people have regular lives and other priorities. But her entire life is putting herself in the public and the least she can do is make herself presentable to that public by practicing basic hygiene and being well-groomed. The state of her nails is as atrocious as the state of her house.

Is she a 15th century peasant?? Is she an orc?? WHAT ARE THOSE?! Not only is there dirt beneath her nails, they're all mismatched in length and look like she plays whac-a-mole with them on a daily basis with Thor's hammer. Just trim them and file them down, dude. THAT'S IT. She can even do it while pretending to read, like how she brushes her teeth. But then this is the same person who thinks skincare isn't real and is someone who can't be bothered to take a quick shower after going out on runs and just sits there all day in her sweat and filth soooo....

It's probably a part of her pretentious old timey and "kidcore" aesthetic to have unkempt nails. She does the same thing with her hair.. she won't cut it or style it because that's not how the little girls she's obsessed with do it, even though a shoulder or chest length haircut with some layers will do her a world of good.

This is so petty but I get the ick from Ruby’s “Choose Kindness” t-shirt.
It's also a PETA shirt, even though Ruby haughtily assured all her fans that she would NAVVER, AVVER promote or advertise PETA (said while she was wearing PETA shirts and using PETA phone cases).

These comments are the first shown in tje comment section and have many likes!

The first and third comment in the one picture are good too.
And does she really say (rewatch it at the moment) like in the one comment that you should unsubscribe her if you don't find her content helpful?
Every time she shows herself unsubscribing from something, she says to unsubscribe from her channel if her content isn’t doing it. Then the fans comment shit like ”you’re the only youtuber I follow” and ”she’s so humble omg 🥺” and she eats it up like the vain, attention-seeking airhead she is.

“Jumpers worn new with smoke”? What?
A whole weekend in the great ourdoors. Wow Ruby you're quite the camper. Why are the digestives damp anyway and that phrase "jumpers worn new with smoke". Sorry but imo she's such a dumb ass she is so much of a try hard. Also if you're camping and playing music the whole time I hope you're camping far from others but I think nor. I can't imagine Rubes and Mama pooing in a hole and covering the offering with dirt. So that being said, unless you're all alone, constant music is disrespectful & annoying.

Sur-f*cking-prise 🙄 We can’t deliver, but it’s a good thing, really!

View attachment 2388905
That's right Ruby send orders out with Evri who are well known for losing parcels, saying the package is on it's way but it doesn't actually get delivered, packages arrive late, parcels getting delivered to the wrong address and dumping parcels anywhere which get stolen or ruined if it rains.
I mean you only have to look at various reviews to see how bad Evri is as a company and she has the same problems with the planner every year but does nothing to rectify the situation.

Ruberta, for most of us the rain is just weather and we sigh and go outside it in anyway. Not some aesthetic moment that has to be captured and experienced and documented and ‘normalised’

One thing I have always noticed is that when people do these kind of videos; showing their back to school hauls, decorating hauls, or stationary hauls, they list everything below and include links their viewers can also order them if interested. Not only does she bother to do this out of consideration for interested parties, but she also doesn't answer anyone in the comments who are asking. Pretty rude and selfish of her. So much for her motto of being kind! She is such a hypocrite!

She is making pumpkin crumble so pre-autumn season is officially upon us guys!
To celebrate let's all go on a 2 hour WAHK in our favourite JAMPA to frolick in imaginary autumn leaves (and sweat our behinds off, because it's fucking August). And remember, you must declare how deeply saddened you are by the fact that the leaves are indeed still green and how much you miss AKTABA, for it to be a true pre-autumn WAHK.
---
Seems as though she didn’t have any pumpkin 🎃 so she substituted CARROT 🥕.

Crimes against food my god!
Her crumble topping looks like plain flour and she just lazyly dumped a huge chunk of it right in the middle of the crumble and gave up...

I shouldn't be surprised by her stupidity at this point, but I'm honestly shocked that she's dumb enough to just tell people once again that she's copying and reading summaries/essay extracts when she hasn't even read the book yet.

She couldn't make it more obvious that she has no interest in engaging with the learning process and will be applying her AXATAR cheating repertoire again:
It was clear in the video that she really was not interested in doing any studying as she looked bored throughout and you could tell that she did not want to read and make notes on the Faerie Queene. I also think that she has come to the realization that she has applied for the wrong masters as she knows that she doesn't have any interest in this time period and instead would have been better off doing the 1830-1914 or the 1900-Present course instead.

Very similar to you I started at 10 and was too awkward to tell my mum. Now I’m on the pill and don’t get periods. Maybe she does take the pill so she can live in her teenage body state forever. If she has a private family doctor and they’re rich af I think it can be managed without an actual medical reason.
Tbf in England you don’t need a reason to go on the pill. You can just say you don’t want to get pregnant and off you go with a prescription with no further questioning.

I do exercises like these every now and then to keep myself on track, but Ruby’s answers here made me so sad… she clearly has no direction in life or real passion. A regular person’s answers would have direction and intention behind them. You want to choose big things that would seriously improve the trajectory of your life, career, relationships, wellbeing etc and move you toward your big goals.

Buying tea and coffee out has to be the saddest aspiration I have ever heard 😭
Also, there must be something very wrong with her if going out to get tea or coffee by herself is something she feels the need to work towards. Agoraphobia? A fear of being alone in general? I don't know what it is but it's serious.
