I don't understand why Ruby is showing footage of her old planner as Monday the 30th August was in 2021.

Whoops, Ruby wasn't paying attention when Googling "quotes about siblings" and accidentally reveals she didn't actually read the thing she claims she read, for the 42,948,567th time.

I'm also dying at Ruby's weirdly clinical and ambiguous birthday message to her sister; note that Ruby doesn't actually says anything positive about her sister or their relationship anywhere in this post.
omg literally why does she have to mention that she has read antigone in 2018. no well-read person ever says things like ulysses, which I first read in 2008... she is fooling no one; it only shows how insecure she is about her intellectual and cultural caliber. and she fucks her insipid allusions up every damn time. remember the notorious 1984 incident lol

I'm absolutely clueless about ChatGPT. It's not something I can use in my job and I haven't got much time to spend learning it (so I haven't bothered) but I noticed a tutor on my MA course said that some students were flagged up on a recent module for AI and plagiarism. He said AI isn't good beyond superficial reading- not sure how true that is as I am a dinosaur. Hopefully Ruby knows not to use it for actual writing but I think she shouldn't mention it at all in her study videos, tutors don't like it.
ChatGPT will give a passable summary of a novel for example, and can list things such as main themes, but if you ask it to produce actual text, it’s very generic and there will be errors mixed in with facts, and it’s hard to tell the difference unless you know the subject. I’ve used it a little for background work (for example, I asked it to summarise a novel I didn’t have time to read for a paper I was writing on theory, so I didn’t actually use anything AI produced in my writing, only the background process) but I wouldn’t rely on it to any significant extent. (I also asked it to write me a pattern for a knitted elephant, and it basically gave me instructions for knitting a tube with three holes for ”legs”, and a cuboidal trunk.)

Eve Bennett did a video last night basically saying she's done with youtube to focus on her journalism career. She said she always knew she never wanted to be a full time content creator and youtube was always just a hobby/side hustle. She seems very mature and grounded compared to the other former studytubers. I wonder if Ruby even wants a career or if she does just want to be an influencer forever. I think she could be ok at it if she focused on quality over quantity, she has found a niche that works for her with the old fashioned English countryside vibe but I don't see how she can sustain it forever if she just keeps recycling content and never improves her editing

I'm amazed they are going for another round of the planners? Didn't they have to drop the price of the last lot, as they weren't shifting? 🤔 Maybe this might be a last hurrah because she's off to Oxford and an academic planner is still relevant and 2 fans might want them. Next year though, who knows? 🤷‍♀️
They were definitely on the verge of shutting the company down in March because nobody was buying any of the crap on sale. Sixteenth closed Jack Edwards' store in March and the same time, Ruby posted a weird video talking about her flagging sales and blaming it on ordering too many yearly planners because the academic planner sold so well (it didn't).

There's also been no posts on the company social media since that time, so I imagine the product manager told Ruby it wasn't worth the cost and they were going to shut her store down as well, then she talked them into one last small academic planner batch with minimal support from Sixteenth, so they got rid of the intern they had manning the Insta account.

Maybe Ruby offered to finance the next batch herself just to give the dead horse one last flogging so she can act like she was busy with something during her gap yaaah. Then she'll blame the workload at uni for not being able to continue with the business she never had any real involvement in and spin it as less of a failure.

There’s nothing wrong with having an iPad and a MacBook. It’s Rubert’s pathetic pretence that her existing iPad wasn’t fine, and that she could only afford her new iPad secondhand, and that therefore Apple was forcing her to buy a new Apple pencil that is getting our goat. She already had multiple devices, as many of us do - her sole reason for this ✨ upgrade✨ was flexing for Oxford.

I’ve been thinking more about Ruby’s decision to apply for the early modern MSt, and how - to be frank - utterly ridiculous it is. She doesn’t like the period; it’s never been her literature of choice; we know this. She’s very obviously applied because it’s less competitive to get into compared to some of the other MSt courses. I realise these are not original points, but just recapping here before moving on.

The issue is that she is SO fixated on going to Oxford that she’s screwed herself over in terms of doing something she might actually like, academically. Feel free to skip my entire post if you’re not interested in deeply nerdy waffling about alternate options she could have (should have) taken.

Ruby will struggle to get good marks on the MSt, because she’s one of the weaker members of the cohort. She did a less rigorous degree and got a lot of help, whereas others in the cohort will have done more rigorous degrees without leaning on a friend the way Ruby did (and will also have genuine, independent interest in the period).

She will probably try to compensate for being at the weak end by (1) slogging and (2) sucking up to the dons, but neither will work quite as well at masters level. However, she’s canny enough to weaponise her mental health for extensions etc (I’m not concerned about mentioning this because I don’t believe it’s giving her ideas - she knows), and Oxford will grant those. She knows how to advantage herself.

If she underperforms in the masters, she will have a much more difficult time being accepted for a DPhil at Oxford (even though she is massively advantaged by not needing to win competitive funding, like most students). What she could have done - but didn’t because she just wanted to get to Oxford as quickly as possible - was do a masters in something that actually interested her (children’s literature), and where it was thus much more likely she would get higher marks. That would also have given her a more focused and refined application for DPhil at Oxford, along with, ironically, a stronger academic profile, and she could’ve gained a doctoral place for four years!

There absolutely are academics at Oxford who are interested in children’s literature and would have considered supervising her, if she’d presented a strong DPhil application with high masters marks in a relevant field. I’m not saying who they are because I refuse to help her, haha.

But her chances of successfully applying to write a doctoral thesis on something she would genuinely like (twentieth century literature for children/girls, mostly) are if anything hurt, not helped, by the MSt she is doing. It makes her look indecisive and academically unfocused. The appropriate MSt would have been the modern one, but I’m guessing she felt she wouldn’t get in, and was intimidated by the content. You don’t study modern and contemporary literature at a top university without engaging properly with literary theory and challenging texts. That’s why she should have done a focused masters somewhere else, aimed to nail that with high marks, and then gone for Oxford. But oh well. Too late now.
I’m sorry, but what on earth suggests that Ruby will ‘weaponise’ her mental health to get extensions? I’ve watched her content for years and have never seen her get an extension once, even when she was clearly exhausted and suffering mentally and physically due to her unsustainable working and eating habits. There were several moments during her time at Exeter when she should have taken a break and asked for an extension. Unfortuately I think she is way too proud and obsessed with being a perfect student to ever ask for an extension. I’d love to see her be able to ask for an extension. More people should ask for them!

And side note: There’s genuinely nothing wrong with asking for an extension whenever you feel like it could benefit you. Students have lives outside of uni and it’s a stressful time. The worst that can happen is the uni says no. It’s really never ‘weaponising’ anything to ask for an extension...

I'm actually somewhat happy to see Ruby take a taxi to work. I'd like to think her parents sat her down and went "right you're an adult now with a job and it's your responsibility to get there and back"

Do I actually think that happened? No of course not. But it's nice to see Ruby not get driven by her parents as a 23 year old adult who is more than capable of learning how to drive (and tbh should know how to drive by now given that she lives in an area where you really need a car to get around).

In short it's nice to see her somewhat acting like an adult, even just for a split second. But we all know it won't last...shame
I'm guessing her parents were on one of their many holidays that week.

It says a lot that her default option when it comes to transport is to inconvenience other people and rely on mummy and daddy to ferry her wherever she wants, up and down the country, whenever she wants.

It's also extremely revealing that when that option is taken away, she immediately resorts to blowing money on taxis to take her 5 minutes down the road and back for her 3 hour work day rather than walk or cycle, after spending years trying desperately to convince people that she happily walks several miles a day for fun as part of her VARRY PRODOCKTIVE SCHADULE.

She's just lazy and entitled, and that's fine if she has the money to waste and can't be bothered to walk, cycle or get a bus, but she should just say that. "I was feeling tired from doing nothing this week and really couldn't be bothered with walking. Money isn't an issue for me and I only work at the school to pad my CV a bit, so the cost isn't a problem. Given the option of hard work and convenience, I'll take convenience every time. Better the money go to someone who works hard than sit in my bank, am I right?" Instead, she lies, and her getting taxis everywhere when it's not cost-effective and she has other options she claims to prefer simply doesn't track with any of the fake stuff she claims every week.

It's yet another dead giveaway that all her claims that she's SYO SOSTAINABOL AND REDDYOOCES CARBON EMISSIONS WHEREAVVER POSSIBOL and LOVES TYOO WALK AND COICLE AVVERYWHAAAR and IS SYO VARRY FRYOOGAL are all lies. It should be blatantly obvious by now that every time she claims she goes for a 15 mile walk or goes on 7 "RONS" a day, she's literally just filming herself running in circles in her yard for a minute or walking to the end of the lane and back and passing it off as a mammoth expedition amongst her list of fake tasks.

She's lived in a bubble of play pretend and being pampered and coddled her entire life. What she needs is a reality check.
She'll never mature if she doesn't spend meaningful time with people her own age and older, seeing firsthand how many responsibilities they have, how independent they are and what is expected of them.

In order to gain real self confidence that is rooted in reality and actual achievements (not just delusions of being a genius and never doing anything wrong), she needs to do something that is actually worthwhile and has real consequences. Up until now all she's done is fuck around, because nobody expects anything from her or wants anything for her.

I AM A WROITAH.png

The self-care page in her newest planner is sending me 😂 First I misread "staying healthy" as "staying wealthy" (but I realised my mistake soon enough because, let's be honest, that would show entirely uncharacteristic amounts of self-reflection on her part), then there's the constant Blakeney-ing - I'm surprised her study break ideas don't include writing a letter to her bestest friend Blakeney or hunting her down from three counties over to "brainstorm ideas" for her upcoming seminar, and finally the ever-present affirmation of I AM A WRITER. THIS IS MY IDENTITY. Also, love her planning "sitting by river", "exploring libraries", "formal dinners" and "extra lectures" without even finishing her pre-readings for the year. If she wasn't so adamant about her love for Early Modern English literature, I would've thought she applied to Oxford for other reasons than their wealth of rare manuscripts and facsimiles! (But don't worry, Ruby. YOU DESERVE TO BE HERE.)

Long time lurker, but compelled to post.

Am I insane, or did Ruby say in her tiktok about her flight 'back home' that she finished reading Genuine Fraud and then STARTED reading Keegan's Small Things Like These - BUT in her most recent video about her trip with Blakeney at the 8.07 mark she is reading it during her 'slow day at the airbnb'???

This is a classic Ruby lie because in both videos she says that she had just started reading it and is "somehow" already X amount of the way through. Her need to constantly self-aggrandise in this minor way is painful and so poorly disguised.

She had another deadline for her agent. How many more is she going to have before the agent finally drops her? It’s been a year and a half with no success, and god only knows how many drafts of how many books the poor long-suffering soul has ploughed through, buoyed up on nothing but Roobee’s follower count and a fuckload of wishful thinking.

”Water transports oxygen to the brain” 😂 No, Roobee, your blood does that. You breathe air (not water!) and oxygen goes from your lungs into your blood, where it’s carried around your body to wherever it’s needed. On the other hand, it explains so much about her, if she legit thinks you can replace breathing with water.

I must not have drunk enough water, because that was my single takeaway from the video. She’s too stupid for words.
Like, this is literal anti-vax, flat-earther, climate change denier, Holocaust conspiracy theorist levels of ignorance, stupidity and lack of scientific education.

With her Best Friend. Don't forget, peeps. It is her best friend. Not her 2nd best friend, nor her ex-roommate. It is her BEST FRIEND. In the title, mentioned in the video. Let's get that straight. lol

1. Complains about the heat, then wears pants, black clothes, and a long dress.
2. Goes to Italy, surrounded by some of the most amazing culture, remarks that she is mostly there to be with Blakeney, but then reads on her own.
3. Blakeney stills seem rather wary of the camera. Maybe not video her standing at the top of stairs, looking up her shorts? I mean, come on, Rubes.
4. Woman has no idea how to dance. Someone give her lessons.
5. Found swings. Let's be childish again! Multiple shots of twirling. Seriously? Blakeney looked like she was going to trip over her own feet.
6. "We are on our way to Pizza!" omg
7. For everything super interesting she supposedly did, she forgot to vlog it! What a surprise!
8. Rather boring video. I would have liked to seen more of the sights, a lot less of Blakeney's butt or Rubbish's face. Too much of "us" going on.
9. Reminds us. again, how grateful she is to have found time to spend with her best friend, who lives in the same country as her, but hasn't seen in a year.
