I can’t get my head round the fact that she gets paid real money to go to her real job and she turns up in clothes that aren’t ironed. You’re not cosplaying any more Ruby, it’s a professional environment

I remember my first job when I lived at home - my mother would literally stop me by the front door and tell me that I couldn’t go out like that if I had a hole in my tights I hadn’t noticed or something was creased. Why is mother bones so incapable of teaching her children basic social norms?

their mother made them use old socks to wipe their butts during lockdown to save toilet paper. leanring anything from that woman would not benefit ruby at all....

although the two of them seem very close and like-minded. so she probably is already learning a lot from her and her mom is giving her advice on how to look presentable at work. just like your mother stops you to the door to make you change into better pantyhose, ruby's mother probably stops her at the door to hug her really tight to make sure her clothing gets wrinkled. (who am i kidding ? she drives her to work. but you get my gist lol )

To be fair I work in a primary school as a TA (newly graduated) and I go to work in a t-shirt and black jeans, maybe sometimes even leggings. No one seems to care much, it's the learning that's important. But you never know I might have ironed her skirt if I was wearing it..

Same haha I taught seniors Legal Studies while I was wearing jeans and a tshirt. But think about it, tee and jeans probably looks more put together than her wrinkly clothes...

I bet you don't go in wearing crumpled tshirt though. She always looks like she has slept through a nightmare, tossing and turning, and looks like she hasn't brushed her hair. She looks messy.

I’m an accountant and I also wear jeans and a tshirt in the office sometimes! It’s more the fact that Ruby’s clothes are totally creased that’s the issue imo, - there’s a difference between looking intentionally casual and looking sloppy or messy

I was looking at Ruby's Insta story earlier and she is showing, or bragging, that she is 270+ pages into The Brothers Karamazov. Is she utterly proud of herself for reading a book longer than 50 pages? I mean, she goes on and on about how much she loves the classics and Victorian Lit., but the average Victorian novel is over 400 pages and if you start getting into Russian Lit you might as well expect something 600 pages or much, much longer. She really has lived her life under a rock. How can you act amazed about this when you already have your BA in English Lit? I'm so confused.

Long time lurker here and I follow her on Goodreads, TBH I was pretty dumbfounded by seeing her "progress" with BK. She started reading it on the 16th of January and today she is 250 pages in. To make things clear, I'm all for slow reading and enjoying the experience, I imagine she'd have a lot of googling to do as a newbie to Russian lit. But for someone who, as OP says, loves (and knows) the classics and "reads" over a hundred books a year? Pardon me?
I'm a Russian language and lit masters student and I have to read these tomes in a week or 2, maybe along with another book(s). And although not everyone in my class does it, it is manageable! It's possible to read BK in less than 10 days (along with uni work, attendance and a job). So I feel like there might be a problem with real classics and her reading level. Just maybe.

That was my first thought, too. I Googled "carlisle jumper" and it looks like there is a brand called Carlisle who sell really expensive ($300+ per jumper) women's clothing though, so maybe that's what she meant.

They're not a househould brand that many people have heard of as far as I'm aware, so my SponsorSense is telling me they gifted her the jumper ages ago and it's an undeclared ad. Her saying "it's the thickest Carlisle jumper I own" implies she owns multiple, but who knows what Ruby means with her tenuous grasp of the English language.

I mean, she keeps on talking about "the space between the eyes" when talking about being mindful, when I'm sure what she should be saying is "what's right in front of me". This is the second time she's said it this month. Unless she's literally just sat cross-eyed, counting the fake freckles on the bridge of her nose as a means of relaxation.

On the note of fake freckles, wouldn't someone with real freckles say 'no these are real freckles' if asked to drop their fake freckle routine?
I would. Legit. If someone asked me how i draw on my fake freckles, I'd let them know this is my actual face (if it was). *shrug* Her silence in this regard speaks volumes.

Does she mean "the space between my ears" (i.e. her brain, although space is probably more accurate for Ruby)
