"Grades do not define you". That is rich coming from someone who got a first in her degree and has spent 7 years on YouTube obsessing over grades and perpetuating toxic productivity nonsense to her impressionable audience every chance she gets. I couldn't get past the first 2 seconds of the video because I just know it is going to be full of Ruby's usual brand of b.s.. Also, I noticed she only added the affiliate link for the tea in the description after someone pointed out that she hadn't declared it. "I thought that I had". No, Ruby, you are just so used to not declaring ads, and thought you could get away with not doing so yet again.
I skipped to the part when Ruby when to Scone Palace as I used to work there and it's close to where I live, perhaps -just to harm myself as I was really bothered and horrified by what I saw . First of all, she mispronounced Scone Palace as Scone like a cake, where it's actually pronounced 'Scoone,' or as we tell people 'Scone like Spoon' if that makes any sense. I might be more offended by this as people from the village take it very seriously when people call it the name of a cake. You think that someone like Ruby though would take the time to find out how it is pronounced.
Then she said that Macbeth lived in Scone Palace. I had about an aneurism, partner had to make sure that I was okay as I apparently went rather red. The family who live in the Palace is the Murray family and the Earl of Mansfield, Ruby should have noticed it as it was in the Wikipedia article that she copied and pasted from, and also the information is in the palace itself, it's not just a museum with 'victorian' items, it's a proper family home that is open to the public.
Among her rambling about Macbeth and how he isn't just the villain as he supposedly is and how is apparently charitable and kind- the historian in me wants a source to explain this. Ruby is surprised that Shakesphere's version of Macbeth doesn't match up with the real one and finds it interesting, you would think that she would realize that contents of the play matter and why it was produced, and how it would influence the play itself. James VI and I'st was believed to be a descendant of Banquo, so Macbeth isn't going to be portrayed favorably. Ruby is surprised by this information. I could ramble on about this for so much but I don't have time.
Ruby also tries to climb a tree which visitors are told not to do as it can be dangerous and since they are older trees, are prone to damage. It is also disrespectful to the gardeners of the Palace, most of them who are volunteers, if she damaged the tree by climbing on it like a child.
Sorry for the rant everyone,I was just horrified by what I saw when she was in a place I worked for and close to my home.
Ruby Granger #27: Dissertation done, reverted to childhood enabled by mum
tattle.life
Right on cue.
Like Eve Cornwell, Ruby is trying to position herself as a shining beacon of enlightened clarity in the darkness, here to expose the horrors of toxic productivity and unfair grading standards to all the brainwashed students who don't know better. Not once does she see fit to mention that she herself is the biggest proponent of that toxic, study-yourself-to-death, "grades are everything" mindset. She is still, to this day, fabricating her "72 hours in 1 day" vlogs and accomplishments to encourage others to work themselves sick trying to emulate the literally impossible goals she's claimed to achieve.
You do not get to smugly assume the role of wise mentor rallying against the evils of unfair academic expectations, Ruby. You don't get credit for calling to report a fire that you started. You're a huge part of that problem. Unless you're here to admit your part in that, lay bare all the lies you've told and apologise to all the impressionable kids you've steered down that dangerously unhealthy path, then you can absolutely shut the fuck up and go back to twirling in your garden and clinging to mummy for dear life.
It's all especially dishonest bullshit, too. Ruby has never moved on from that grade-chasing mindset, she's just reframed it. She doesn't suddenly enjoy learning any more now that she's not in university. She's still fucking miserable and has a face like a slapped arse every time she shows herself "lahrrrning" or "reesaaarching".
She's not doing any of it for the fun or genuine curiosity of it. She's still very much engaged in that cynical, toxic approach to learning - mindlessly memorising random quotes so she can shoehorn them into irrelevant conversations just to feel smarter, or just mindlessly staring at critical essays to fill time and appear studious in staged vlogs. She's not doing it for self-fulfilment. She's doing it for the end goal of accolades and praise, which was all she wanted from her grades - to be told she was smart and special.
She's still shitting out these godawful "addjucayshanul" videos because she wants fawning praise from easily-impressed fans.
She still rehashes staged vlogs in which she cobbles together footage from across weeks and months to pretend she did a week's worth of work in one afternoon, clearly not because of the reward of accomplishing anything, but for the hollow ego boost and blind praise she'll get from people who don't see through her lies and rave about her and how jealous they are in comments.
She still pretends to read books to inflate her Goodreads numbers to give herself a faked higher score than other people, and all for the ego boost of people praising her (fake) bookish intelligence.
She's chasing a book deal not because of any actual interest in writing, but because she thinks there's fame, riches and awards waiting for her at the end of it - she's even using the same approach to writing books as she did her essays, i.e. borrowing all her material from other people because she has no passion or talent of her own.
And to add insult to injury, this is just another technically terrible video, too. Ruby has nothing going on in her life and has a wide-open schedule, but she couldn't be bothered to set aside part of an afternoon to film herself reading a script in one go. As always, there are no second takes, and Ruby barely delivers a complete, uninterrupted sentence in the whole 22 minute video. Every sentence is just a jumpy, erratic mess of words stitched together from 2-5 other failed sentences. There are no second takes, as always, Ruby just cobbles together whatever shitty mess she crapped out. There's several outfit changes for her main footage, having been filmed across 4-5 days. Ruby couldn't sit still and record 22 fucking minutes of coherent footage.
It's a choppily-edited mess of incomplete sentences, mispronounced words, erratically-assembled footage, endlessly recycled clips from months and years ago, babbling tangents, and barely-connected quotes from critical sources. It's pretentiously-presented, half-assed waffle, and none of it is Ruby's own opinion. It's yet another "essay" where she just stole both sides of the argument from other sources and claw-handedly parrots quotes while waggling her eyebrows and violently shaking her head as though those opinions were her own, to make herself seem and feel VARRY INTALLIJANT.
The irony of Ruby ranting about how awful the protagonist of 'Enter Title Here' by Naomi Kanakia is because "she is an overachiever and will do ANNIETHING TYO GAT HOIGH GRADES and will COHT CWORNERS WHAHRRAVVER", when Ruby cheated her way through uni by using Sparknotes instead of reading the material and getting her roommate to do most of her work for her had me in stitches. Ruby also thinks Erimentha Parker is a positive character.
I don’t understand why Ruby has to cosplay everything she does. Goes to Paris - wears a beret. Goes on a boat - dresses like Captain Birdseye. It’s just so weird …
I don't think ruby understands that the defining feature of poets, authors, and academics isn't their perfect morning routine or diet, rather the actual work they produce. If you want to be like a famous poet, write good poetry. If you want to be like your favorite author, write a good book. Anyone can wake up at seven and drink green tea, not anyone can have original ideas so profound they're studied hundreds of years later. Of course, Ruby shows only what she's capable of (and lies to us that she did all the other stuff too).
It's like a greatest worst hits compilation of Ruby video cliches.
Mispronunciation of EVERYTHING.
Gnome Kommski. SCS Lewis. Alburt Camu. Gilmwore Garhls. Vlog = "FLOG". Brunch = "BRONCH". The list goes on.
Danse Macabre.
Even with a full library of royalty-free music at her disposal, she keeps playing the same songs over and over in every video. What a lazy little goblin.
Half-assed vlog ideas.
Ruby hops on the "autominnal" bandwagon of being a Gilmore Girls fan, despite the fact that she clearly doesn't watch it. She can't even get the name right. "Gilmwore Garhls" becomes "THE Gilmwore Garhls" and then she just keeps calling it "Gilmwore". Everything she references in the video is from the first episode. It's pretty clear she didn't watch anything beyond that.
She says that's the whole theme of this video: She's going to live a 'Gilmore Girls'-inspired day or several. And then proceeds to just cobble together a bunch of unrelated footage of her doing random bullshit, filmed weeks apart, which she pretends happened in two consecutive days to make herself seem very busy and PRODDOCKTIVE.
She pretends to write a book, she pretends to study, she pretends to read, pretends to research many things, she says she wrote multiple letters, she wanders aimlessly around her huge garden, she pretends to reorganise her wardrobe by moving her hoarded clothes from one stash to another, she festers in her bedroom.
It's just the usual Ruby crap. None of it has anything to do with Gilmore Girls other than her occasionally shoe-horning some random, tenuous link (Ruby went outside with her mummy, which is SO "Gilmwore").
This comes immediately after her "I lived like a Romantic Poet" vlog, in which she lived like regular old performative fuckwit Ruby.
Mess, filth and squalor.
Her kitchen is back, looking just as messy as ever.
Ruby shows the landfill that they call a family library. It looks even messier than the last time. Ruby claims to take SOCH GUD CAHHR of her books, and then shows this.
Ruby finally, after months and months of having the same duvet cover on her dusty, dusty bed, changes it. Thank god.
Only she doesn't change the sheets. That sheet which doesn't fit her mattress has been on her bed for a year or more.
ED baiting.
When supposedly spending a day imitating Rory and Lorelai Gilmore, instead of having a traditional American breakfast of pancakes, she uses it as an excuse to toss together another of her vomit-inducing food concoctions, smearing a thin layer of watery peanut butter and clumps of god knows what else on a crumpet and slapping a halved half of a banana on top. Fucking disgusting.
She calls it a snack, but this comprised her entire breakfast. The horrified banana faces say it all.
For dinner, it's more sugary desserts which she won't eat all of.
She caps it off by taking a small bite out of a "Chocolate BOTTON" and still having half left. Chocolate Buttons are not multi-bite sweets. This is not normal behaviour. This is a repeat of that time she took a dozen bites of a single olive, or her taking crumb-sized bites of tiny cake slices. It's yet more of her blatantly waving her eating disorder at the camera.
But as always, she offers this up as normal behaviour for children to emulate and others to be triggered by, doing untold damage to impressionable viewers despite being asked time and time again to stop. But she won't, because she's a reprehensible piece of shit.
Undeclared ads for Remarkable.
Random outfit changes/faked timelines.
She leans into frame at the beginning of the video wearing this:
Then she's wearing this:
She instantly changes to this outfit:
Then she's back in this:
Then is wearing this:
She offers up another of her dubious disclaimers for this latest outfit change (but not the changes before that):
"Oiy've got changed, AS YOU CAN SEE, as oiy...got a bit hot...innn...the...ottha thing," she says, having forgotten what clothes she was supposed to be pretending she just literally just had on during the separate day it was clearly filmed.
Also her previous outfit was just a t-shirt with a cardigan over. In reality, you'd take the cardigan off if you were hot instead of change into an entirely new outfit. But again, clearly all filmed on different days.
Then Ruby's off out with mummy (because of course) and is suddenly back in this outfit:
(Also featuring an undeclared ad for BARD 'n' BLAND.)
Then, back home, in the last footage of the "day", she's in a black jumper and her never-washed grandma shawl:
Even Mummy Bones gets in on the spontaneous clothing change continuity error game, switching from this:
To this:
On the next "day", a weary-sounding Ruby sighs and says, "I think this will be the final day of this flog" as though it's been going on for six months.
Reminder: According to Ruby, it's only the beginning of the second day. But of course, she's forgotten with all the random footage she's been slapping together that it's only supposed to be day two.
She claims she woke up at 5am and had already edited two videos. It's clearly bullshit. She filmed this video on or after the day she filmed that 'day in the life of a "recent" graduate' video. She's only uploaded two videos since then, and this is one of them. Sounds like more fictional bullshit to me.
She claims she's going to brunch with her "FRAND" ALAXA - who is either that person that was hired to do all of Ruby's work on the Ponkin Prododitty Instagram account because she couldn't be bothered, or it's the Amazon AI who Ruby assumes is a real person because it responded to her question once. She'll presumably be having "LONCH" with her "FRAND" Siri and "SOPPAH" with Cyortana and Gyoogol.
She babbles for a while that she won't film this "BRONCH" because she never likes filming with friends - again, absolute horseshit, since she's been reusing Blakeney b-roll for years - so we can assume that this "BRONCH" never happened.
Back in the house, she's magically changed into this middle-aged Tory outfit.
Then it's suddenly late afternoon/early evening and she has a greenish brown sweater on.
The beginning of this video, she's got her planner on display. Since she pretty much never uses her own products and makes sure to recycle pictures of any filled-in page wherever she can since it's such a rarity, this page can also be seen here in her 'morning routine of a "recent" graduate' video:
The fact that only two things are checked off on the Tuesday video says that this new footage was filmed on that day.
But then when she ticks off the 'book synopsis' she claims she finished, it's Wednesday 21st Sept.
And then during the room tour, it's suddenly a different day - the date's hard to see, but it's clearly in October.
At this point she gives up all pretence of this being a consistent vlog and just starts tacking random shit on the end to pad out the video - a room tour, an outfit parade, a book haul filmed after the Scotland trip. These all should have been their own YouTube shorts/TikTok videos. Instead she just lazily slaps it all together because effort is hard and Ruby can't be bothered.
Inconsistent, magically-changing freckles.
Shoehorned disclaimers aimed at Tattle criticism.
She points to her forever-filthy coffee pod machine and makes a point to say that YASS, it does need a polish, but it still works so it doesn't matter.
No, Ruby, it doesn't "need a polish". It needs regular cleaning. It's covered in complete filth, like everything else in your home.
Normal people clean things when they are dirty. If you only clean things when they have ceased to work, and if that's the low bar you've set for cleanliness in your home, then it says a lot about the pure squalor in which you live.
More undeclared ads.
Ruby shows this radio off and says it's a gift for her mum.
Ordinarily it'd be nothing noteworthy, but every other product she shows off in videos this way - a clear shot of the logo and packaging and a glowing comment that sounds suspiciously like marketing blurbs - is always an undeclared ad. I'd stake money on this being an undeclared ad for a gifted product, too.
And if you're thinking "but Ruby wouldn't just give a gifted freebie to her mum for her birthday", well...
"BLAKENEY IS STILL MOIY BASST FRAND AND HASN'T ABANDONED ME TO BE AN ADULT!"
Ruby immediately follows up the undeclared radio ad by showing herself putting together an unsolicited care package full of shit that Ruby got for free (tea, peanut snacks and Exeter University stationery that Ruby probably stole from her tutor's desk).
Instead of taking all the spare gifted teas and foods that she'll never need or use to a food bank to do something vaguely charitable, she just sends it to someone else who doesn't need or want it.
She's just the laziest, most incompetent swamp goblin who ever had a YouTube channel.
"I was gyowing tyoo bee leaving moiy paahrents and gyowing on moiy trip tyoo Amarricka alyone straight after moiy trip tyo Greece with moiy family, but thaahr was a mix-opp with thee planes and instahd of mum and dad's plane gyowing from Greece tyoo Heathrow, the poiylot accidantally flyew to Amarrickuh instadd! Can someone recommend a link where Ruby talks but you don’t have to watch? She’s never done an interview on a podcast or anything has she? I’m working without two screens and I want to listen to her soothing study voice
She did a short-lived podcast with the Sixteenth studytubers, I wouldn't recommend listening to it unless you want your IQ to drop exponentially with every minute.
It's a self-congratulatory wankfest where they all pat each other and themselves on the back for saying wise and enlightened things, despite them droning on for 30 minutes to say nothing at all.
It's also a shining example of why Ruby doesn't do collab content and doesn't want to interact with other adults; even in a room with 3 pretentious, self-absorbed dumbasses trying to cover their lack of intelligence with lots of faux-intelligent yammering, bad analogies and buzzwords, Ruby still comes off as the stupidest and most inarticulate one there.
I sometimes wonder if she really did get a Lit degree - certainly Exeter have nothing to boast about their teaching when she spouts some much twaddle about Romanticism. Alexander Pope may have been a vegetarian but he certainly wasn't a Romantic poet. Shelley was a vegetarian but was far more famous for his sexual shenanigans and copious drug consumption - much like Byron. To make out they sat around drinking green tea is astounding.
Mental health issues are no ones fault and honestly anyone can develop them, but I think a lot of the reason she probably feels like shit at the moment is because she sits around doing absolutely nothing all day except pointless tasks to keep herself busy. She probably feels extremely unfulfilled as a result which is contributing to the anxiety. I hate to sound like a boomer but I think a few months hard graft doing an actual job would do her the world of good. She is stunted and I think it’s abnormal for someone her age living in the UK to have never had a job before in their life.
Also, it's just sad to keep books in that state. I'm not obsessed with keeping my books in pristine condition like some people are. But there's a big difference between having a normal, lived-in bookshelf, and just dumping all your books on the shelves like they're garbage.
Plus I think this family has hoarding issues. Those are way too many books for a family of four. I don't believe for a second they read all of them.
Idk about that, but I got 14 seconds in and was so overpowered by the sped-up footage and the jump cuts that I had to go grab a drink. She’s driving me to mid-week ethanol
oh god she’s so fucking smug and annoying, I’m not sure I can do this
”I got straight A’s in school” ”Intelligence and grades don’t go hand in hand” well I’m glad you figured that out, Rootabaga, but it seems to me like we’re still waiting for the penny to drop for you
From the dark academia short:
"The onderstanding of knyowledge is something life-giving and dasperate. It's this endless parsyoot of knowledge and has a kind of intensity to it because you're syo dasparate to gat it done and you're syo eagah to gat it done and it's the oynly thing on your mind".
This is a ryoobee-ism. It means starting a sentence, going off on a different tangent and completely forgetting the point of said sentence, all the while sounding like a derailed train. It also involves justifying your garbled crap with the belief that you're an overlooked underdog genius whose brilliance cannot be comprehended by us lesser mortals.
