I can’t support her advocating for surrogacy when she travelled to the Ukraine, where commercial surrogacy is a career for desperate women. Children are not a commodity that the wealthy can pay money to acquire. Have we as a nation learned nothing from the laundry days? It’s human trafficking.
I agree it shouldn't be celebrated. She is also trying to use surrogacy to further her own career. I'm sick of her fakery and sob stories, it's all about HER.
I'm not a supporter either. I also find it incredibly strange that for gay couples there will be no mother on the birth cert. It's like women have been erased.
They keep claiming its for the safety of the children but its for their own selfish reasons
As a Mam I’m always really uncomfortable with surrogacy, I never say it as it can come across cruel or homophobic (Gay couples surrogacy) For a child to grow inside a woman, have a scientific and biological connection to that woman and then be torn away. I remember watching the documentary of the the triplets in New York separated at birth that all had early separation issues, I always imagine something similar. I know they’re are genuine people who can’t have children but all the famous celeb examples seem to just want to buy a baby and keep their figures.

I’m not opposed to IVF but there’s more to consider than the feelings of intended parents when you start creating children for a commercial transaction, using genetic material or renting a womb. It is not right taking advantage of these socio economically deprived women and basically buying a child. At least children born from donor material need to be registered as such and have a right to know who they are genetically, but you should have the right to know your birth mother too and if that is something a birth mother wants to opt out of, then they should not be deemed suitable to be surrogate.
