It's been nine years (on this date, 18th May) since Chris Cornell, singer and songwriter in the bands Soundgarden and Audioslave, killed himself aged 52.
Same date (1980) as Ian Curtis, who was just 23.

Both of these still make me sad.

For me, he is The Gold Blend Man. 20 year old me could certainly appreciate the slightly older man in those adverts
They became event TV. I remember everyone waiting for the final advert.

Those adverts were better than any of the soaps at the time

I first remember seeing Anthony Head in the 80s/90s Gold Blend adverts

Remember his brother Murray? Had a hit with "one night in Bangkok"

Anthony was the better singer.

Actress Angela Pleasance has died aged 84. She was the daughter of Donald Pleasance, and inherited his talent, she also inherited his unsettling qualities. She was a versatile character actress, appearing in many productions, from horror films, to The Sarah Jane adventures, to Coronation Street.
Apparantly The League of Gentlemen based the character of Val Denton, on Angela which is quite touching..
She will be sorely missed.
