Yeah, he did a Pete Townsend and claimed it was research for a TV show he was gonna do where he was gonna play someone accused of it or something. He was also accused of raping a 14 year old girl in his dressing room as well or as it was described back then 'having sex' but unsurprisingly was found not guilty of that. It beggars believe that he still managed to get work here and there after he was released, including a show the psychiatrist Pamela Stevenson did where she talked to people like her husband Billy Connolly and Robin Williams, trying to find out why they did certain things. He did an episode and it was like 'let's try and find an excuse why you did it?' He also got a few film roles and did things behind the scenes as well.

HIs excuses for doing it were laughable, going on about doing it because of respect, compassion and a bunch of other balls.

Aware this is a "rest in peace" thread - I just didn't know where else to report his death, hence me not making any personal comments about him, his work, his conviction etc. Just wanted to keep it short and factual.

my husband worked with Chris years ago and is genuinely sad about this one. He is definitely separating the artist from the actions of the man. Chris was genuinely very funny and talented as an artist but a flawed human. As my husband says, he was a sex offender however few images were downloaded. You cannot excuse that. A skilled and natural comedian though.

I remember reading that tied up with his ego and arrogance there was a wanting to know what drove his own rapist when he was grape as a child.
Sounded like he was a very mixed up man mentally.
Might explain why some people are standing by him who know him well.

Oh no that's really sad to hear. He used to live near us and my mum.used to see him in the high street a lot. Would always say hello or hold the door open for her. Such a lovely man. Always reminded me of Tim Curry 😥

It's on TimeTube tv on YouTube; they have tons of stuff like Juliet Bravo, etc

It's a legit channel, as they have the proper licences to show tons of shows


For me I loved him as fool Turpin

Such a shame about Richard O'Sullivan 😢😢😢 he always seemed to be on TV in the 70s and 80s. I'm so old I remember Man About the House, fool Turpin and Robin's Nest

That was back in the days when UK tv included comedy and drama

Another part of my childhood gone for good. Man about the house was one of my favourite programmes.
Apart from all the other things he appeared in, he also had a role in one of the early Carry On films - Carry On Teacher (1959). He was obviously quite young in that, but you could tell even at that age, he was one to watch.

Ahhh I’m sad about Richard O’Sullivan, he was the spit of my dad who is also dead. We had a weird relationship but was always fond of the people who reminded me of him, weirdly. Rest in Peace, Richard.
