Yes he’s red how did you know that?@Caffeine Fiend has given great advice.
My couple of points. Don't tell a dog off for giving 'warnings' such as growling. Look up ladder of aggression, growling is not the first stage so it sounds like you need to be more aware of body language and what he is telling you. If you tell a dog off for giving you a warning sign, he will learn to skip that stage and go straight to the next warning which is snapping!
Is he first or second generation? By any chance is he red?
Cockerpoos have honestly been breed too much lately and I don't think there's been a lot of care taken to ensure good lines.
You sound like me with mine puppy ..And hes 6 months ..And hes good at sleeping and going the toilet but becoming from nippy again and a handful ..He's just 6 months so I know he's still young but it really does feel like a step backwards. Puppies are hard workThank you though, I will start from the beginning again!
It's nice to know we're not alone! At some points I find myself wondering what's wrong with him and why won't he behave but it's nice to hear from other people that it's perfectly normal!Yes he’s red how did you know that?

Farmers/Gun dog owners say that most dogs come into their own around 18-24months. I see flickers of it in my dog (16months), but she just forgets/looses her head sometimes.Oh god!
I’m the same, I just know I would be absolutely devastated if I had to give her up. Thank god for you tattlers!I agree ..Am glad am not on my only …I’ll be honest I wish I found it easier but I don’t ..I do think a lot about getting him a new family ..But feel sad and a failure for doing that ….
It probably is a lot to expect but it’s still hard going and coming on here and expressing that it’s hard makes people feel better that they are not alone in how they are feeling …Professional experience 🫣

Figuring average person lives 80 years and a terrier 14 years that makes her about 6-7 in human years. It's a lot to expect from them.
I would be..I just wish and hope he gets a nicer temperament…He’s great with people but growls at my daughter a lotI’m the same, I just know I would be absolutely devastated if I had to give her up. Thank god for you tattlers!
Thank you for ur advice..I will be looking in2 getting Advice about it ..Can the vet give any or do I need a behaviour expert? If hes growling at your daughter Purple Star I really would try and get professional advice as soon as you possibly can. Im not saying it would happen but it can go from a growl to a snap quickly.
It is definitely possible to fix this though, so I know its so hard right now but it will get better with good support.
If you were considering rehoming definitely make any rescue know of these sort of resource guarding behaviours.
For everyone else Id say the first year is hellish, its full of loads of periods where you think youve cracked stuff then it backfires12-24 months is loads of mistakes made by me the owner, trusted my dog more than I should have or got negligent with things like leaving a bin bag in access
By about 2 my dog was the perfect companion. So perfect I decided to get another one. Hang in there.
@Maid22 how did you get on?
Sorry if my comment has been misinterpreted. I was agreeing it's hard.It probably is a lot to expect but it’s still hard going and coming on here and expressing that it’s hard makes people feel better that they are not alone in how they are feeling …
Your vet should be able to recommend a behaviourist. Whilst vets can offer advice the best thing is to have someone actually come and witness the behaviour and then someone who can guide you on what you should do when these incidents occur.Thank you for ur advice..I will be looking in2 getting Advice about it ..Can the vet give any or do I need a behaviour expert?
Totally agree. Just make sure you get a qualified behaviourist, it's not a protected title, so anyone can call themselves one.Your vet should be able to recommend a behaviourist. There is no harm in chatting with the vet though
I really needed to read this todayFor everyone else Id say the first year is hellish, its full of loads of periods where you think youve cracked stuff then it backfires12-24 months is loads of mistakes made by me the owner, trusted my dog more than I should have or got negligent with things like leaving a bin bag in access

I really needed to read this todaymine is such hard work at the moment, I keep finding myself wondering what's wrong with him, why won't he behave, what's wrong with me, what am I doing wrong etc so it's reassuring to know we'll get there in the end
I know what you mean I feel the same ..Ur not alone in how ur feeling ..How olds ur puppy? What breed is he?I've been very glad and thankful to read the last few posts this morning as I'm having a particularly bad day with our puppy already and it's not even lunchtime yet.
For some reason he just seems really agitated today. He keeps trying to bite me more so than usual, use my legs as a scratching pole and keeps barking at me when I try to tell him to sit etc. The barking at me is a new thing so I'm really hoping it's just a bad day and not the start of new bad behavior.
It is so hard some days and sometimes I feel like I'm such a bad puppy mum and am letting him downBut it's so reassuring reading all your posts and I know it'll be worth the pain in the long run.
He’s a cockapoo and is only 13 weeks so we have a long road ahead of usI know what you mean I feel the same ..Ur not alone in how ur feeling ..How olds ur puppy? What breed is he?
