Has anyone got the trial+ podcast? Interesting things coming out. They mention the extreme pornography that was found

Preston's father, Gary Nolan, was at the vigil last night:

See for me that's rich. Yeah absolutely, he should have been loved and safe wherever he was placed, no question. But it's your actions, along with his Mother that got him in there in the first place. You could have loved him enough to get your acts together and kept him.

I'm considering signing up for it. I dont like the idea of having to pay to hear about it. Makes me feel a bit weird about monetising a tragedy.

Thank you. You've said exactly what I was thinking. Dad doesnt come across as an upstanding citizen. Hopefully this helps them both figure it out!

I was going to post the same thing.

It really pees me off when these parents - and more often than not it's fathers, who even if their children were still living with their mams would be avoiding paying any child support, or visiting, or helping with childcare - begin mouthing off about how this should have happened / that shouldn't have happened / the other should have been done. Both of Preston's parents seem to be totally unreliable; neither of them was there for him, or was prepared to clean up their chaotic lifestyles for his sake. It's highly likely that if either or both had had custody of Preston he'd have been neglected at best and ended up in the same drug-addicted criminal life as his parents.

Preston had a chance to have a decent life, growing up in a loving home - and that chance was stolen from him by a pair of murdering perverts. For all of their crocodile tears, neither parent cared enough to step up to the plate and look after him properly.

I wonder if there will be a compensation claim incoming.

It's difficult, as the two women are trying to make money....albeit from often disturbing content. However, they already give a lot of their content for free and you are paying for their time and insight.

I had the same thoughts. I think there is a 7 day free trial. But in any event, it's a good victim centered podcast and Liz and Caroline are extremely respectful. I'm happy to pay for them to continue bringing attention to these cases.

This, theres always a bio absent parent, usually dad, to come creeping out of the woodwork.
I think with Deveca Rose, the guy had basically fathered two sets of twins with her in under a year, walked when one set were 6 months old, and started a new family.
Bronson Battersby, the little chap who starved when his dad died, hadn't seen his mother in a month.
If you couldn't make the effort to clean up your lifestyle and show up for your kid, you don't get to play heartbroken daddy now.

I think Star Hobson’s sperm donor came crawling out of the woodwork when she was killed too.

I am very interested in true crime and pay for it regardless. There are pods about so many different cases which are so well done. The Ben field case was one of the trial+ pods recently which I have followed too so find it very interesting. The updates on Lucy letby are on that part as well.

it was porn with animals found on his phone, but says the charges were dropped so it wasn’t part of the case. It wasn’t porn he had created, but things he had saved from online

They deserve Medieval grade punishment for a week before execution.

You could think of it another way, in that you’re supporting two experienced journalists covering a trial in meticulous detail.

Not being patronising, I just think proper journalism is a dying art and doesn’t always get the credit it deserves.

He did and then caused absolute murder with Stars family who actually brought her up over her resting place. The ‘dads’ never want to get their act together to parent but love to get themselves out there for a sympathy vote 🤢

If people didn't want to hear it, they wouldn't listen.... Just like all of us following this or any other true crime story, there is something fascinating about the worst of human behaviour and seeing people brought to justice or proving their innocence.
The Trial does a huge amount of free content - there are multiple people working on it, including researchers, producer, editor, the voice actors, and Caroline and Liz. They are real people trying to earn a living, so I don't have a problem with them monetising it. At least the ads on the free stuff aren't as egregious as some of the other podcasts I listen to (I'm looking at you, The Rest Is Entertainment, with your 10 minutes of ads per episode ..).
