He's definitely trying to paint the picture that his work was really busy/intense and he tried to stay off his phone and that JV would send endless photos/videos which he barely watched. So therefore only realised the inappropriateness during interviews/the trial? Again, it’s his only option at this point - it’s the only thing that can create doubt and answer the whole “well he’s seen all these videos so why didn’t he think JV was doing stuff” because if he admits to watching these and being concerned at the time, he’s effectively admitting to the charges

I don’t know for certain but I think, depending on if JMF has anyone else to call to the stand after himself, then we might be on closing statements next week.
JMF will likely be on the stand for the remainder of this week I think. He’ll likely finish his evidence tomorrow, cross may start or it may start Thursday.
Closing statements maybe be 1-2 days each with the judge doing his summing up 1-2 days and then letting the jury go deliberate.
This would all get thrown out if they don’t sit for a day or have legal stuff to sort out etc

I think JMF is "playing" his defence the only way he can really. He has to say he didn't see or suspect anything untoward was going on as then he'll be asked why he didn't step in. He has to say he can now see some pictures/videos are inappropriate as clearly they are. I'll be surprised if he deviates from their shared story about the day of Preston's death as then he'll be exposed as covering up details. Saying he received loads of photos and videos while busy at work creates room for doubt that he saw everything clearly. I just hope the jury sees through his BS.

His choice of words is very deliberate. When asked about the videos and images he says they are inappropriate but he also says they are stupid. There is nothing stupid about them, that is language used to minimise the seriousness of what is actually happening.

JV never told him about the videos . His wording and phrasing is all very deliberate - let’s see how he handles being crossed.

When I first saw he’d saw that I thought what a bloody odd thing to volunteer (okay maybe he was asked a direct question) but still. And then yep, you’ve hit the nail on the head - this is his excuse

He is coming across very calm and collected in what he’s saying, could almost believe him if I hadn’t heard all the evidence about how poor Preston died, and how I am sure he knew he was never in the bath that afternoon.
I do think he will be found guilty though

Playing up the campiness, the overuse of the term “sassy” to downplay JV’s attitude/behaviour etc. Trying to normalise it all. It’s all so contrived and disgusting when you think about what the reality must’ve been like for that child.

He is equally, if not more, manipulative than JV.
The way he does his faux outrage but then the final adjective he uses for these abusive, neglectful, cruel and perverse videos and photos is always “stupid”. Again he wants to leave the jury with that. Just stupid Jamie making mistakes “oo what am I like”, just sassy and stupid.
Liars. Can’t wait for cross.

I’ve just found JMFs LinkedIn. He got a new job after Preston’s death! Clearly thought life would just carry on!

I remember thinking occasionally during the Letby trial, that the jury might find her not guilty. Not because I heard anything particularly that made me doubt, but because I’m quite an anxious worrier and I have to remember that some people out there don’t think the same way I do. To those who are concerned about these two- I do not feel that way with this trial. I have to believe that the jury can see through this playing down of ‘stupid’, ‘silly’ things like videoing a naked baby too many times, like a murderer being ‘sassy’ and have to believe that justice will be served to both of them. I do not want the verdicts to come in on his birthday as I believe his foster parents should have a day remembering him for the short time they had him, and not of the brutal way his life ended.

I just really want the prosecution to make it clear that JMF agrees with how the pathologists say he died and that SA was the culprit. Then I want them to clarify his relationship status and if he confirms they are together I want them to ask him why because there is no answer other than he doesn't believe JV did it or he doesn't care.
