I've just caught up on the live reporting. God it's a hard read. I keep seeing his beautiful chubby face and thinking how lucky someone would be to adopt this adorable baby. Poor soul should have been loved and cared for. Adoption is usually a good ending but Preston should have stayed with his foster carer.

There is just no way a baby could be asleep that way. Suspended with frog legs. Definitely unconscious from prolonged suffocation in the same way that he was killed. A blue tongue and he just filmed him. He seems to get a lot of gratification from the consequences of his/their attacks which is just so depraved.

I think so too. One of the bruises on his forehead was linear in the middle. Probably a cot bar. The bath was obviously used a lot too. Vile. Places that should be nothing but joy and comfort for little babies and they tortured him there

We need to do better for our most vulnerable little people. Child protection being under resourced isn't an option at all, surely it should come before things like infrastructure to make sure its funded and resourced to the max. My youngest is 2 and a half and I completely ruin him with love, I still carry him around in my arms snuggling him half the day, and I get into bed with him in the evening and snuggle him to sleep in my bed. But it makes me feel sick with almost like some sort of mothers guilt that some little smallies don't get any love or comfort. As someone said in a previous post, so many couples would have felt blessed with the chance to love that poor little cherub

No, that's finally done it for me. I'm in tears. I had to go upstairs and cuddle my sleeping son as it somehow felt like I needed to.

Oh Preston, I'm so so sorry

I also feel so much for his poor Mum. Imagine getting your child taken away and then finding out this happened when he was meant to be going to a better life. Whatever the circumstances, she grew him for 10 months and you can't erase that.

Unfortunately I think that was part of the thrill for them, that he was such an adorable handsome little baby

I’m agnostic and I don’t believe in hell in the traditional fire and brimstone sense.

for these two I’ll make an exception

I hope there is a hell. I hope they live the rest of thier existence on earth in terror and then when they die (hopefully painfully) they will have to spend eternity going through what they did to Preston over and over and over again

The only positive I can glean from reading this horrific evidence from the pathologist is that surely they don’t have a leg to stand on now. It’s very damning evidence. I know we haven’t heard from the defence yet but really, what is there to defend in this case? It’s very obvious what was going on here. I don’t think the jury will take too long to decide when the time comes either.

Surely this is one of the worst crimes the UK has ever seen? I think it's up there with Ian Brady and Fred West but even for them it was never infants

WTF have I read today? Honestly just feel so sickened by it. How could someone do such things to anyone, let alone a defenceless little baby? Seriously hate this world right now. I wonder how the jury are coping.

And such an experienced pathologist too, describing things she’s never seen in a long career. I can’t see how the defence are going to introduce doubt into the internal injuries that Preston suffered, especially as they occurred when he was alive, not during the resuscitation attempt when he was in cardiac arrest.
