They will give you an initial edd based on the last day of your period but you will get an actual edd when you have your dating scan. They use the measurements to date your pregnancy as these are more accurate then the old period calculation.
You would normally see a midwife at 28 weeks and have a blood test as well at that stage. I’m not sure when the norm is other than that as I’m consultant-led so I’m mostly looked after at the hospital than with a midwife.Does anyone know how often you get checks by the midwife? I’m 25 weeks but havnt heard from my community midwife since 6th October. I have had a scan and check from the consultant since -3/11. But no word from anyone since. Is this normal practise or do I need to make a phone call?
If it's your first baby then you should have one at 25 weeks, if not, it's 16 weeks and then 28Does anyone know how often you get checks by the midwife? It’s different between NHS trusts but below is the amended for Covid schedule in my area. You have to call to book your appointments yourself here unless they’ve booked you while on your last appointment. My hospital midwifery dept has a FB page which is really helpful.Does anyone know how often you get checks by the midwife? I’m 25 weeks but havnt heard from my community midwife since 6th October. My 2nd was due on 27/07/19, he was 6 days late and like you, I never even considered that I would have an august baby!EDD changed to 27/07. Either way I was overdue and she was born 41+2had not even considered an August baby and naively thought she would be born in July as expected

Mad isn’t it - even though you know it’s an estimate, when you don’t have your baby on that day it really pisses you offMy 2nd was due on 27/07/19, he was 6 days late and like you, I never even considered that I would have an august baby!
I’d ring them up. I had a midwife appt at 16 weeks then didn’t have another one till I was 34 weeks.Does anyone know how often you get checks by the midwife? Oh my gaaaaad it took my partner weeks to get his head round this! Pretty much convinced himself I was making it up and that I was adding weeks on to the pregnancy the absolute plebYou’d think it would be on the date you conceived but it’s not. It’s from the date of your last period. That’s how it’s worked out. No idea why x
sorry to hear you’re going to have to do some of this alone, thankful that we’re able to attend private too so partner can come. It’s really sad that not every trust will accept partners it must put a lot of stress and anxiety on expectant mothers doing it alone in this current climate. Which can’t be good for mum and baby surely? I want a home birth for this reason, hate the idea of being stuck in the hospital labouring by myselfHi all! Had my midwife appointment yesterday. I am 8 .5 weeks.
Just had a phone call from the hospital to book my scan in January. Despite the wonderful news about partners being allowed to every appointment it seems this is not the case at all. Apparently it’s down to individual trust. I’ve been told he is not allowed in with me. Very disappointing and still think this is wrong. We are very luckily to be able to afford private scans so we will do this on the side. It’s very unfair on everyone but women who can only rely on the NHS.
Partners should be allowed to attend this scan, it makes me so cross.
There isn’t a hospital in England that’s not allowing a birth partner to attend once active labour is established unless the mother or chosen partner has signs of Covid. They can’t always be there from induction say and stay on ward but women are not giving birth alone like in America. If you stay at home until you’re established or go home after an induction until you’re established as you usually would you’re partner will still be with you throughout in all trust areas as it stands. Obviously the exception is in lengthy labours that require constant monitoring because they are not progressing but in that case they would likely transfer you to a hospital anyway. Not trying to put you off, just in case you didn’t know xxI want a home birth for this reason, hate the idea of being stuck in the hospital labouring by myself![]()
My trust changes their rules every 5 minutes. I’d check again before you attend.Despite the wonderful news about partners being allowed to every appointment it seems this is not the case at all. Apparently it’s down to individual trust. I’ve been told he is not allowed in with me
