Yesterday afternoon I had a nosebleed (never had one in my life before, not even when I was a kid)

Of course 🤣🤣🤣 next week when my head turns bright green and doubles in size and my leg falls off I expect this'll be quite common because of hormonal changes too

Wait till you grow that third boob nobody tells you about 🤣 nah I’m kidding but yeah. Every single thing I have googled is just a ‘yeah it’s because you’re pregnant’ thing. I’m becoming the biggest tinfoil hat conspiracy theorist in the world but my favourite phrase is ‘why are they hiding this from us?!’ Followed by ‘what else have they not told me?!’ 🤣

Hey everyone! I'm currently 8w5d and I'm realllly struggling with fatigue, usually I'm up at 5:30am doing a workout and nonstop all day. I've really been struggling to have any motivation to do literally anything, the house work feels like a huge task, I'm sleeping a ridiculous amount and generally feeling quite low and down. Has anyone experience this level of extreme fatigue, I feel incredibly guilty for having no desire to do anything, and feel like I've already piled on the weight. Any advice or experiences please share them!
Hang on in there!!!! Get as much rest as you feel you need and don't worry about anything else. I was the same until exactly 12 weeks and my energy is back to the point I don't need to nap anymore. It doesn't last forever. One thing that worked for me was electrolyte drink tabs. Worth a shot!

Week 11 is kicking my arse general aches and pains wise. I know it's normal and probably just everything rearranging itself for bab's hotel to increase in size but I've got 12 week scan tomorrow so it's getting me nice and twitchy for that 🤡

Doesn't help I'm having a really stressful time at work.
Since returning to work last week after being signed off with WRS, my manager (who is the problem, and after having done some reading and prior experience of people like this and being very therapised, I think she may be on the diagnosable end of problem personality 😨) has ramped everything up in terms of obfuscating, cruelty and has made vague allusions to having me removed from the team/my job. Have gone to union and am meeting with a volunteer bullying support/advice person tomorrow. Have confided in trusted senior people I work with. Job apps flying out. But of course I'm terrified this stress will hurt babbikin in some way (even though I know rationally it is probably fine and me stressing about stressing won't help)
Definitely tell HR you are pregnant, I know you may not want to with it being 12 weeks but hopefully this will make them back off as the others suggested pregnancy is protected and the last thing any business would want would be an tribunal!

I’m sorry you are going through this at a time that should be precious xx

Really recommend magnesium glycinate. Lots of research to show it helps with sleep, nerve pains nausea and all the joys of pregnancy. I was always a good sleeper before pregnancy then as soon as I was pregnant I had insomnia. Magnesium glycinate is the only thing that means I sleep well. If I forget to take it I can tell the difference.
I wonder if this will work for restless legs too as this is currently driving me crazy in the evenings 😂

I graduated from this thread a while back but I still lurk and just commenting to say the same thing happened to me! I didn’t have the GTT automatically as I had no risk factors and found out at 36 weeks the baby was measuring big so was tested and found to be positive. There’s a really helpful group on Facebook if you have it (just search GD UK).

I was petrified when I found out as it was so late, but I just followed the low sugar/carb diet until my baby arrived and his sugars were absolutely fine.
Wow thank you for the advice!! I’ll check it out ☺ I’m terms of delivery with a big baby how did it go? Any issues or anything I should know? 🙂 thank you xx

Am I crazy for considering trying for final no5 around Christmas time? 🙈 baby will be 8/9 months by then. Anyone had an 18 month gap or similar?

I am having a ridiculous morning

8.30am Ring community hospital and leave message to speak to midwife
11.30am Midwife calls me back. But they only have appointments in X town which is a PITA for me to get to from Y town. So she suggests I call the hospital and see if the unit there can have me in
11.35am Call unit at hospital. Number out of service.
11.36am Call Maternity Unit. Ask them to put me through. Can't put you through, we'll internal ring them and ask them to call you back
11.45am first unit calls me back. Person on phone says I should NOT have been told to call them. When I say but it was first suggested I come to you, NO I'VE JUST ASKED MY MANAGER AND SHE SAID NO. You need to speak to your midwives and ask them to refer you to a different unit first.
11.48am Ring community hospital and leave message to speak to midwife
13.30pm Different unit that rude person from first unit said I needed to see call me of their own volition. Did you know you had an elevated protein in your urine test last week? Omg Amy, pull up a chair I've got a story for you. Tell her the whole saga. She's like oh no no no no I'm so sorry, this isn't a community thing you need to come to the hospital for follow-up bloods and to make a long-term forward plan, can you come tomorrow. Yes I can. As you were.

🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I'm very grateful for the NHS and free at the point of service healthcare but I swear to god nobody talks to anybody else
So rude person was right but rude with it, and Friday mystery caller sent everybody on a wild goose chase

Welcome to the anterior placenta club haha. Have you seen the videos of earth side babies noozling into blankets and cushions? Apparently it’s common because the placenta acted like a cushion in the womb! Definitely going to be looking out for that when mine arrives.
I was so anxious for the 20 week, I made myself sick in the run up, but luckily had a very sweet sonographer.
Glad it went well for you :)
I had thought I was managing my anxiety pretty well but nope 🙄 our sonographer was so so nice as well which made it so much easier.

Oh my gosh so cute - deffo going to be looking out for that when baby comes! Winter baby means all the snuggly blankets anyway I’m hoping!

We had the scan. Both babies are looking good and measuring well. We also found out we’re having two little boys 🩵🩵

Gosh - I can only imagine. I’m already feeling quite tender and sore at 16 weeks. There’s no way I could make it through a non-desk job. Are you not exhausted?

We are now booked in for fortnightly scan to track growth and identify the risks of TTTS and IUGR so that we can intervene if necessary.

I know not all pregnancies are straightforward but I am finding this all quite anxiety inducing - just so much can go wrong. I just want to fast forward to having my boys home.
Awww congratulations on your twinnie boys😍😭

Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly for you. Sounds like they're keeping a close eye which is great news although I know it can seem quite a lot.

Have they said about birth options yet? At only 8 weeks I'm being told conflicting advice by the midwife and consultant.🙄😐

I know I already quoted this post but was thinking about it earlier, and I felt I should say also don’t worry about the housework, do what you can do! I found it easier to do it the minute I walked in the door before I sat down, I lost all motivation for everything in the evenings too and pretty much lived on airfryer jacket potatoes with beans and cheese! My partner is (usually) away a lot for work (he’s currently without a job due to redundancies at his company which is a bit stressful) but he was still away a lot in my first trimester. I’m really lucky that we live close to my parents and they’re willing and able to help out because I know not everybody is able to have this, but honestly those early weeks with me feeling crap and Mr A away in India for work I had mum come round a few times to help with the housework. Lean on any help you have in the first trimester because it is HARD!

Unfortunately I don't live in England so we only get £325 a month (from pre-pre school year, Master Fishsticks is a July babe so late in the school year) which is a great help, but for four days a week I'm still paying over £550 a month. For under 2's, I was paying over £1k a month for 3.5 days a week. Now I have to think about that for twinnies and my brain explodes every time I do. We don't have family around who can help either, so we're not fortunate in that respect!

Ohhhh good point! The thing I liked about the really fancy all in one things was you can fold them up to store them. My dining room is quite small/has quite a lot of furniture in it. Oooh, decisions decisions!
Yes that’s the one negative about the IKEA chair. It does get in the way if you’ve got limited space and you can trip over the legs sometimes. Other than that I love it!

I am literally being kept up at night wondering how I’m going to pay for two children in nursery. In Wales we don’t get the 30 free hours until they’re 3. Baby Lava goes to nursery three days costing nearly a grand a month. He’ll be a couple of months off being aged 3 if I took the whole year for maternity leave but not sure if I can afford lots of months unpaid this time around. And even when he’s 3 I’ll still have to pay for the newest Lava’s childcare.

I’ve been saying we’ll sit down and crunch numbers after my 20 week scan but it’s this week and I won’t be able to put it off any further.

Yeah I’m completely pooped! I did test negative for covid this morning at least but the sniffles still prevail! Is it working day or calendar day? BabyBoyDragName is making his world debut on the Friday, my mat leave is due to start on the Monday. I should be able to ask my work but they can’t handle the fact that I’m more senior than anyone else so don’t like answering my questions 🤣
Ah right I see your point, unfortunately my lot don't specify 😱

Had my 20 week scan today and happily everything is looking as it should! Only had 3 separate anxiety dreams about missing the appointment/things going wrong last night 🤣 turns out I have an anterior placenta (seems quite common from these threads?) which explains why the movement I’ve felt so far feels super faint!! I saw a reel on insta recently of a baby quite obviously rolling over from the outside - it looked like her whole belly was rippling so I can totally imagine baby moving doesn’t always feel like cute little flutters 😂

my husband, who manages a team, did make a point that made me feel a lot better when I was feeling guilty about doing a Cilla (*) (I'll be just about at MATB1 stage if/when I start any new job now). He said he wouldn't be bothered if he recruited somebody who then went off on mat leave, because he'd just recruit mat leave cover, and then you've got one extra person in the organisation who knows how to do the job. He is an eminently reasonable person though.

Spent my day at the hospital for a follow up scan and to be reviewed in triage/the general overflow clinic. There’s a bit more amniotic fluid than last time. The ‘deepest pocket’ they can see measures at a normal amount but when they add all the measured pockets together it’s still low, although less low and therefore not maybe as scary. This was good news. I was to be seen in triage regardless but this time I wasn’t urgent which I’m very grateful for, but I had to watch everyone get taken before me and sit there for two hours. MrDN had packed snacks and a 1L insulated bottle of water, what a hero. But he left them in the car and the hospital parking is so bad he wasn’t even parked in the grounds, we’ve found a public car park that’s close enough that’s our backup plan. I had shovelled a sandwich in my mouth before the scan but I am permanently hungry so that was a challenge, MrDN didn’t eat at all, bless him. I kept telling him he could go he himself something.

Anyhoo, a Dr reviewed me. She was more junior than the Dr that saw me last week although wasn’t clueless or anything like that, but I did feel she was talking quite quickly. I do enjoy all this ‘woman’s right to choose’ stuff but it has me bamboozled at this point. Quite a few times she mentioned bringing my c section date forward again, from next Friday to Monday instead. But at the same time she said everything about the boy looks absolutely fine except the amount of amniotic fluid. Then she says that the earlier they get him out to greater the chance of respiratory problems, but then goes on to say the paediatricians can be there in an instant if needed and it’s not a given that there will be a problem, just a higher chance. By this point I’m starving hungry and dunno what’s for the best but also freaking out about not feeling ready, and wanting to balance cooking him as long as possible with keeping him as safe as possible and I’m thinking ‘how am I qualified to make this decision?!’. I’ve opted to leave my c-section date as it is.

I popped on the CTG before I left and that was fine. My blood pressure took a while to be read but by this point I think the hanger had got to my BP. I’m back with my own midwife tomorrow. The midwife in triage said that if they really wanted the baby out sooner they would have strongly encouraged that. I hope I’ve done the right thing. I spent Thursday as a complete emotional wreck, then spent Friday and Sunday working non stop to take my mind off things. Saturday I think I just loafed about and packed a hospital bag badly. I’ve got maybe one more day’s worth of work to do then I guess it becomes all about the baby 😳

I was going to start my Mat Leave on 15th Sept but the boy will be here by then. Does that alter when my leave starts?
I believe mat leave starts when baby is born or their due date, whichever is sooner. I was super annoyed that Master Fishsticks was 14 days late so I lost out on 2weeks mat leave as it went off his due date.

Hope you're feeling okay with everything. How many weeks are you now?

Re: aminiotic fluid... Master Fishsticks was born without any and they had no idea. My last scan was 38 weeks where fluid seemed fine and he was born at 42 weeks. They tried to pop my waters only to find there was nothing to pop and they were instead scratching the top of his head which looked really brutal when he was born!!! They still don't know when my waters disappeared only that it must've been a very slow leak. Baby was fine, he just came out very snotty and snuffly. He has been diagnosed with ashthma, but no idea if it was due to this or not. I wouldn't recommend a dry birth particularly with a hormone induction. 🙈

Ok, so the thing I appear to be too stupid to understand tonight is fitted sheets for Moses baskets. I have a family hand me down Moses basket with a slightly niche size. There are a small handful of mattresses that would fit. But everywhere from Amazon to John Lewis to eBay wants to sell me a mattress protector and sheets that are bigger than the mattress? As in, that’s the ‘frequently bought together’ suggestion. MrDN reckons this is because the total sheet size is bigger because it wraps around the mattress but… that’s not how these things usually work in terms of adult bed sizes.

Of course I just want to spend stupid money having a natural fibre mattress hand made to size with sheets to match but that is super daft.
