I’m also 4 weeks! I just went on the maternity website of the hospital I want to give birth at and registered. The email said they will contact me in the next 2 weeks. Last time I think I got seen around 7/8 weeks for a booking in appointment where they did bloods, urine test and height/weight/smoking test etc. I know how you feel on not wanting to jump the gun but I think it’s good to be all registered etc in case something does go wrong.At what point do I contact the gp? Currently 4 weeks so still super early and I don’t want to jump the gun on things and jinx it!
Oh gosh I hope I’m not here for a weekI had a low lying placenta and had a few episodes of bleeding too, each time I was kept in as an inpatient until it had been 24 hours since the last bit of bleeding. One point I was there for almost a week, I hope you’re ok?
You’ve done the right thing by getting checked out. Sometimes the bleeding can be from irritation, sometimes it’s the placenta itself moving, or something more severe so always always get seen especially with it being low lying xx
They will generally see people from 7-8 weeks. Not to be too depressing but last time I was pregnant I registered immediately and then lost the baby at 8 weeks - but the midwife service weren’t told this by the early pregnancy unit so I had to tell them myself. I totally get the excitement to register but just to flag that sometimes our good old NHS can cause more harm than good! You’re pretty much guaranteed to have your first midwife appt between 8-10 weeks and then a scan at 12.I’m also 4 weeks! I was seen at the EPU for two pregnancies before being registered. There’s no harm in registering, but they’ll see you regardless.I think it’s good to be all registered etc in case something does go wrong.
do they have a side room they can move you to if it becomes available if you’re not already? That helped me massively, rather than being in a bay with inductions and ctg’s, I also wasn’t at the point where they could use anything but a Doppler to listen in.Oh gosh I hope I’m not here for a week
Unfortunately had another small amount of bright red blood during the night so they’ve said I’ll be here another night 🥲

I’m not sure if they do. The ward was full last night but now there’s only 1 other person in here. So it’s been a nice peaceful and restful afternoon. I’d love if it stayed that waydo they have a side room they can move you to if it becomes available if you’re not already? Another rough HG day for me. I wish there was a way to test ketones at home so I know if I need to go to hospital or not. I don’t want to go and waste anyone’s time if I’m fine, but also feel pretty rubbish. I’ve definitely felt worse, but the other two times I’ve been hospitalised my ketones were ++++ and I don’t know if that was maybe a bit late to leave it or if they just wouldn’t have admitted me before then.
Yes I’ve seen this too - I think in the US it’s really common to induce asap at 38 weeks or so, so all I see is videos of women freaking out cos they have reached 39/40 weeksI had a good birthday class at my hospital tonight. I was happy to hear they don't induce until 10 days after your due date as my Tiktok is full of people being induced at 39/40 weeks. They also told me every room has a bath which is probably common practice (I have no idea!) but happy if the birth pool is busy I can still have a bath in labour.
We've just moved to the US and we met an OB and she was offering induction at 38 weeks. I had to stop myself from laughing. I’m ok thank you! I had a sweep yesterday and turns out I’m 2-3cm dilated, but today not feeling that much. A few cramps and twinges and belly very tight when I’m standing up. When I’m sitting or lying down though I feel really normal. Hoping baby girl starts to do something soon!I can't believe you are over 40 weeks now! How are you feeling?
As someone who has worked in hospitals for many years, albeit not L&D, as horrible as it sounds it is easier. If you know what/who is coming in you can plan staff, rota, lunch, breaks etc and its a lot easier to deal with anything that crops up.I have been surprised at how many people I know have been encouraged to induced at the slightest thing. It seems so many people who get induced have a harder time than going in to labour naturally. Part of me wonders if induction is better for the hospital as they can almost plan their admissions more easily.
That's 100% true. I would say I wouldn't accept 98% of the procedures and tests I had to offer as part of my jobI saw a good video on tik tok the other day basically reminding pregnant women that just because something is offered doesn’t mean the medical professional would even accept it if they were pregnant themselves. They have to follow procedures/check boxes/cross the t’s, dot the i’s etc etc so they’d be negligent if they didn’t offer induction and something bad happened, but that’s not to say you should accept it or that they would if they were in your position!!
