I had a water birth with my daughter 6 years ago. It wasn’t planned and I hadn’t even considered it. When I was in labour I couldn’t find any position that was comfortable and I just paced up and down. My midwife suggested a water birth as the pool was free and I was reluctant at first as I like baths really warm and thought I’d get cold! She told me to try it and if I didn’t like it then I could get out. As soon as I got in the water, the weight was lifted from my body, it felt amazing. I was in there for an hour before I started pushing.Sorry to change the topic of conversation, but has anyone had a water birth? I was adamant I was having one last time and couldn’t due to having to be induced and other complications along the way, but I did initially labour in the bath on the ward and felt a million times better being submerged in warm water - both pain and relaxation wise. Anyway, I am intending on having one this time round however every time I mention it to someone, they pull their face / list the problems with it / tell me horror stories / are just generally very negative (it always seems to be ‘my friend of a friend had one and … ‘ and not themselves typically) . Does anyone have any first hand experience please?
Can you tell my husband this please? I keep prepping and freezing stuff and he keeps taking it to work for his lunch1000% what would have made a difference for us was having easy meals. I had planned to do some cooking ahead for the freezer the weekend my waters brokewe have tried to make things easier where we can (ready meals/easy cook things/pre prepared veg/take aways
) but my FIL has sent round a few meals where we only need to do rice or pasta and it's made such a difference to our evenings.
My MIL keeps taking laundry away to do for us as well!
We’ve been doing it a few times a week for a couple of weeks now. I really struggle with having anything “down there” for a few reasons and if nothing else it’s really helping me learn to relax and understand the power of tension in relation to labour and the pelvic floor etc. The last time we did it went really badly and we had to stop early but it’s definitely helping. I’ve no idea if it’ll make a difference if I have a natural labour but I’m willing to try it in case it does!
OH was surprisingly up for it, it’s a bit cringey but I figured he’s not going to run away nowhe’s a bit more reluctant after the events of this week I think but I’m reassured him that no matter how big he thinks his fingers are they cannot reach the cervix when he’s only going to the first knuckle 🫠
So on the shag front… no shag because he CONVENIENTLY FELL ASLEEPHow are you doing @WeHadFunRight? Did you get rebooked in for your induction or did a quick shag on all fours do the trick?
