It's your right to take my post any way you like but I'm not sure how I could be offensive or smug when I haven't mentioned a word about benefits, single parents or having a husband who provides for me.
You quoted somebody who said they used a benefit calculator to see how much they get and said yes I do that too. Maybe my original post should have also been aimed at who you quoted.

When my husband is pissing me off I go on a benefits calculator to see how much I would be entitled to as a single mum 🤣
Vile. You obviously don’t provide much for yourself and your children at the moment or you wouldn’t be entitled to very much.

Looking at houses I will never be able to afford or in areas I will not really move to. For the US the website is called Zillow.com (in case someone is interested). I also look on VRBO.com or AirBnB.com for vacations I will not take. One can dream.

I also look people up on social media. It is especially shocking when I thought they seemed nice and then I see they are huge trump supporters 🤦‍♀️

Go on clothes websites and add loads to my basket then close it off never to look again
Go round the town on streetview (once spotted my Mum on there walking to work :ROFLMAO:)
Read trip advisor reviews for places I know serve terrible food to make sure everyone agrees with me

If I’m playing a video game that’s story based (most of the time tbf), I’ll often end up becoming obsessed and will spend hours trawling the internet for info on the lore, characters, mysteries in the game, even things like glitches and bugs interest me as well as plot holes and theories. Huge time sink at times and absolutely zero productivity. Love it😅

Looking at dream houses on rightmove, reading bad reviews, looking up places on google maps that I’ve read about in true crime documentaries, reading Wikipedia pages about the predictions for the next few millenniums..... I’m a weirdo lol

Drop a pin on Google Maps and explore the area. I've spent hours wandering down streets of far flung cities.
Oh, and watching first person pov videos of going down log flumes and water slides on YouTube lol

Looking at the rightmove archive for my postcode and snooping inside neighbours homes!

Tracking planes if I hear one flying over to see where it’s come from / going.

Rightmove looking at properties I’ll probably never afford.

Looking at menus of restaurants/ take aways when I have no plans to go or get said take away.

Reading trip advisor and various other sites to find out about far flung and crazy places.
I used to work in the aviation industry (used to because Ew-Covid) and I love flight tracker

Looking on Rightmove knowing fine well I’ll never be able to afford to buy. “Planning” amazing package holidays that again, I would never afford in a million years. I also SM stalk massively. 👀

ETA: I am addicted to gathering random facts about everything and anything. Wiki is my drug, have ended up down many rabbit holes there.

Go ‘window shopping’ on online clothes stores picking whole outfits
Go on pets 4 homes and look at all the cute kittens and pick out which one I would have if I could

I do this after I watch a new film or TV show I liked. IMDb used to make great reading on the background, the making of and the errors made but ever since they got rid of the message boards, which was my main reason for visiting, I hardly go on the site anymore.

I did say on this thread a little while ago that my pointless time online is every few days I look at the Twitter timeline of a guy I used to follow. He’s a Walter Mitty type character. Well, today’s post says that he was in his local Coop earlier and a policeman was being attacked and so he had to intervene to resolve the situation. Of course he did 🙄

Used to love the IMDb message boards back in the day.

I mainly use Reddit when looking for info on that stuff now.

I like looking up old car models we’ve had on eBay (eg Metros, Calibras) and seeing if any are still going, how much for, and whether there’s a super-immaculate one that’s barely been driven.

I used to like looking through the Argos catalogue and seeing which was the most expensive of anything.

I like doing Google searches on what life was like back in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s (all before my time)

Particularly interested in fashion, music and home interior design. And I have to say - OMG!!! (especially the 70s:ROFLMAO: )

‘Pointless’ can be replaced with sad, embarrassing, weird, shameful, pathetic.. anything you wouldn’t happily admit to everyone really 😄

Mine is going on Trip Advisor to look up random places I have no intention of ever visiting or similarly, going on Amazon to look up products I have no intention of ever buying, filtering the reviews to show only the 1 star/‘terrible’ reviews and then reading and laughing at them 🙈
I do that with looking for the 1 star google reviews for cafes/ restaurants too, love a dramatic scandalous review. the most scandalous one i’ve found so far ( in my area) was a 2 paragraph’d complaint about “ not enough cheese on my cheesy chips “ 😂

I search for most people I come across in real life on social media cos im so nosy.
Also ,when I find out where someone lives, I look up their house on rightmove sold prices to see how long they lived there and what it looked like inside. It is disappointing when they rent .
I do that too. 🤣
