This is what I think. I remember Phillip back in the day on kids TV and I always thought he was gay and remember being surprised when he announced his marriage. His wife was the Production Assistant on his TV show. Maybe they did have an arrangement and it wouldn't be the first time it's happened in showbiz circles.Also this, when asked about his wife Steph.
Phil: "I have no secrets, we've never had any secrets."
He goes on to say;
"She is amazing. She's incredible. I have never in my life, there is nobody in my life who would have supported me the way, as a wife, the way she has supported me. She's astonishing. "
That makes me think she knew all along and if not right from the very beginning, then very near to it. Saying you have NEVER had any secrets is a big statement to make. So prehaps it was a marriage of convenience that suited them both.
I honestly thought he was gonna say he was seriously illGoodness me the fawning over this guy!!! He's not dead or dying, he's gay. That is all. Why should we sympathise with him? He's led a life based on a lie and I'm sure he'll milk this for all its worth. I feel sorry for his wife and kids but they too will be fine. Being gay is actually no big deal any more, the big deal is him not coming clean for 27 years.
Something to throw attention away from this dispute between him and Ruth. I have absolutely nothing against people who are part of the lgbtq community, its just something with him I don't reallly believe it.Sorry I didn’t finish my sentence!
Why would he come out if it wasn’t true do you think?
That makes total sense, she wont have been immune from the rumours of him kissing/sleeping with men around his workplace. So you'd think this would've all come to light sooner had she truly been in the dark about his sexuality.This is what I think. It seemed very rehearsed to me. I think that was his way of letting people know, that he hasn't hurt her, he's never lied to her and she's always known.
It felt like an extremely rehearsed interview. Something he has obviously thought about a lot.
It is a very big thing to say and he’s trying to tell us something by saying it but I can’t work out what it is. Maybe someone was going to tell her he was gay so maybe he’s saying ‘Don’t bother trying to come out of the woodwork with your stories because she knew’ I don’t knowAlso this, when asked about his wife Steph.

I thought it was very awkward when Holly was reading out his insta statement while he just sat thereIt seemed very rehearsed to me. They all sounded like actors reading from a script!
Wasn't Queer as Folk on television around that time?27 years ago was what... 1993. I remember 1993 really well, I was in high school. It wasn’t the Victorian ages, although it wasn’t as open as it is now people generally didn’t care too much about homosexuality. A lad in the sixth form was openly gay, wore a denim jacket that said ‘ahoy sailor’ on it and told us that he’d had a liaison with Toby Anstis (another CBBC presenter of the day).
what I’m trying to say is it would have been awkward but not impossible for Phil to have come out before he was married. He was a theatre luvvie as Joseph around that time, I don’t think anyone would’ve been stunned, except his CORE FANBASE of housewives.
I watched the clip and picked up on this too. Holly seemed to indicate she’d known for a long time too so this def isn’t out of the blue.Also this, when asked about his wife Steph.
