Newspapers are happy to collude with some celebs and throw others to the wolves. It all depends how powerful they / their management company are and whether they are tight with the media bosses. Most of what we read is complete rubbish - deals being done with fake / lesser stories printed to hide real stories. Watch 'Starsuckers' on youtube for more on this. It's hard for people to believe but this is how it works.
that's the best name I've ever heard
I didn't know much about her until after she died, at which point I quickly figured out she was a lovely person with a lot of integrity and good values. That sort of person doesn't seem to go down too well in that industry. That's why I don't think it's as straightforward as who pulls in the most money or ratings or whatever, cos she was hugely popular yet there was a definite agenda to destroy her.
Someone said watch out for the ones the papers vilify, cos they are likely to be the good ones and the ones the papers promote and protect are probably fake as hell with a basement full of skeletons. This is an industry that protects 'their own' and by 'their own' I mean the ones that seem to be arseholes in some way.
