Enjoy…

Does anyone else think the atrictlybexperience has changed him? I also like that he wasn’t boozing while he was on the show right until the end. Speaks volumes about his respect for Jowitza and commitment to the programme. He took it seriously just not himself. I liked when he said that.
I have got it from the library...my treat to read over Christmas...

I think lots of people find Strictly a life affirming experience in unexpected ways. Some genuine friendships have developed from it too. I know he is now with Maura but I really do think he and Jowita have an authentic friendship.

Yeah, I think its been special for him in a number of ways. He's been able to do something to honour his Nan, he's been able to do something that's changed the majority of the publics perception on him, he's reached an audience he's not been able to reach before and I think its done wonders for him mentally.

I think he's a genuinely lovely person and has played up to the persona he's had on TV for a number of years, knowing the more he does the more he can earn. In a similar way to Rylan (albeit not as in your face), there's public Pete and private Pete and the latter is only seen by a select few compared to the former.

I think this experience has possibly enabled him to be more of his authentic and private self publicly and not have to be someone people believe him to be. Plus the not drinking has probably done him so much good.

He said before he did the show that he never understood people saying that they'd made friends for life etc but I think he actually has (particularly Jamie, Wynne, Chris and of course Jovita) and with people he'd have never really interacted with before, which is lovely.

I personally can't wait to see what's next for Peter James Jonathan Wicks.

ETA - this is entirely my opinion, I don't know Pete from Adam (or Sam or John) I'm just popping on my armchair psychologist hat haha.

It’ll be interesting to see if he gets back on the booze now to the extent that he was before. I think Strictly has probably been good for him on so many different levels. I’m glad that people have been able to see him as someone other than the TOWE version which by all accounts, isn’t really him.

You’re actually pretty spot on. I’ve known Pete for a number of years and he’s actually a really lovely guy. There’s still massive differences between private Pete and public Pete but we all have a different version of ourselves that nobody except friends and family gets to see.

I agree and I am really pleased he did it. I’ve never watched TOWIE, I came across the podcast last year and became a fan. I also never watched love island so don’t know much about Maura, I actually didn’t think he would want to be with someone in the ‘influencer’ line of work.

Pete’s Instagram is full of ads and sponsored trips. He is a ‘influencer’ who does a podcast. He did the podcast to stay relevant after leaving TOWIE. He has been on soo many reality shows and knows how to sell himself to his audience. Wait until TOWIE Pete comes back out! 😂

Now you’ve said it like that, you’re actually right 😂 but please explain ‘TOWIE Pete’ for those of us that didn’t watch TOWIE

I don't think he is 'Towie' Pete any more. People grow up and evolve. I've said it before but his autobiography is really illuminating.

For Dogs’ Sake starts Tuesday 7 January on U&W. Looking forward to it
I started to read Pete's biography.
Although I like Pete after SCD.
I gave up after a third in.
I hated all the self help stuff.
I only get your book to read your life story.
If I want a want a self help book, I know where to buy one.

That's fair enough, I couldn't keep listening because I have had a tit childhood and was afraid of finding it too upsetting.

Still love Pete though and will be watching his dog show because he is a true dog lover 🩷🩷🩷

Pete & Maura are def staying in Ireland together for Christmas. They’re at the glasson hotel. So obvious from their seperate posts with the business and red wine. I’d like to see them happy and together. Time will tell

That's funny because Pete made a big deal on the Staying Relevant podcast about hating Christmas and staying home alone (ok, Macaulay Culkin) every year.

I was really enjoying the podcast but now I cannot stand all the extra characters that have appeared. I don't care about Josh, Nathaniel, Tilly and Millie or whatever their bleeping names are 🙄 I have enough of that rit talk with those types at work, don't need to be listening to it recreationally.
