I've just changed my magnesium to one recommended here, the nutrition geeks magnesium glycinate. My sleep has much improved this past week, not as good as it once was, I still wake up a couple of times but I'm feeling less tired in the day.
I have bought some , but i have some big days coming up soon and I don't want to try anything new before that .

Just got my bloods done for peri and general. Hate needles. Next available appointment with menopause clinic is November, that's how busy they are.

Has anyone else developed “ burning mouth syndrome”?
I’ve had spells of this before when I was tapering off a mental health med, but it’s been gone for over a year, and all of a sudden this week it came back and now instead of just my tongue burning, it’s my lips and throat.
I can’t get any relief really, already taking a toll
Yes I've been getting this, it's such a horrendous sensation.

I had an eye opening chat with a neighbour yesterday, she's 43 and has recently gone on HRT. She'd never considered peri but her debilitating anxiety and poor sleep was crushing her. Got her bloods tested, and yes, it was peri. I'm 44 and have struggled with anxiety for a few years now - chalked it up to some significant life stressors - but my periods have gone whakadoodle this year especially, my sleep is not what it once was, and well, anxiety can creep up on you, can't it? I started on beta blockers, and moved to mirtazapine, lowest dose. I am working on weaning myself off those now, and scared the crippling sleep sucking anxiety will come roaring back. But maybe it's something to do with peri all along, and fixed with HRT.

Anyone had anxiety as their main peri symptom?
Yes! Massively. What you’ve written is exactly how I felt at a similar age.

Right, here’s a new symptom for you…
I have had straight hair all my life. Over the past year I’ve noticed it looks wavy when I wash it.
I went to a new hairdresser last month and she said “You’ve got lovely, wavy hair!” I told her it’s always been straight and she said Peri can change it! 😮

Now, I opened this thread to ask if waking because my neck and chest are dripping with sweat at 3am could be a sign of peri, only to see your post. I've noticed a wave to my always straight hair and put it down to having it cut shorter this year, but now you've got me wondering.

This is a little bit late in the day but, I'm now wondering if the overnight change from straight hair to Kate Bush on acid hair, that happened to me at 13 was hormonal.

Another candidate for the wavy hair here. In fact around my hair line I get actual curls. I have to say I like it and so far it’s the only positive symptom 🤣

Can PMT get worse in peri? In fact I now seem to get POST menstrual tension as well now, I only have a few days a month where I feel good and the rest of the time I'm full of rage and no patience. I hate it

Hormones definitely change the hair texture. My friend went to curly hair in puberty and I have with menopause

This has happened to me! My hair is really wavy and I had no idea.

I think to a certain extent it’s always been wavy without me knowing. I used to brush it when wet and then blast it with a hairdryer and hated how frizzy it got. 20 years later I learned how to style it wavy and was amazed by how wavy it actually was.

Hormones are definitely a factor. Pregnancy changed my hair texture (and colour!) massively.

I’ve been getting this, didn’t realise this could be peri related. Thanks for the info!
Please check your loo paper!

I had chronic itching front and back a couple of years ago.
I did all the usual - changing soap, washing detergent, bath/shower gels etc and nothing would help so I put it down to Peri.

Then I mentioned it to my friend. She’d had the same but hers had got so bad she went to her GP.
He asked which toilet paper she used. Costco Kirkland brand. He told her that it now contains a bleaching agent that can cause irritation.
She stopped using it and the itching stopped.

I was using the same brand, so I stopped.
Overnight my itching stopped, it was such a relief. A few weeks later to my dismay it started up again. Then I discovered a rogue Costco roll had been missed and was on the holder. Stopped using it and the itching stopped.

Now the only time I get itching is occasionally if I stay somewhere else and I have no idea which brand they use.
I’m unsure if it is ONLY Costco or if any other brands use the same bleaching agent but it might be worth Googling if the brand you are using is known to cause itching.

Anyone else get massively sun sensitive? I’ve had polymorphic light eruption the last 3 summers. Like turbo prickly heat with tiny raised blisters all over my arms and shoulders on holiday despite staying out of the sun.

I actually do use the same brand…

I haven't experienced that one yet but I saw a post from a pharmacist lately referring to the problem, and she said it was because of the general drying up we experience at this time. Vaseline is the answer apparently (as well as obviously HRT)

Can anyone help with the blood tests and timing through cycle? Gunna get booked in this week as I can’t take the crushing anxiety, hot flushes and no sleep any more.

Have zero energy or motivation and I could easily stay in bed all day and lie in a trance. Sex drive has completely gone over the last 10 months. No interest what so ever.

Feel in panic mode or shattered all the time.

And my armpit BO is off the chart 😆

Just feel such a different person, like I have no personality or that my personality is anger, tiredness or rejection

I can't shed any light re blood tests as I haven't taken the plunge myself yet but day to day, I've found glycolic acid helpful to keep the armpit f&^%ing stench 🤢 at bay. Thankfully, for me, it's only for 4 or 5 days the week before my period is due but good god, it's gut-wrenching.
