I’ve started the evorel sequi patches and now i don’t even know if I need them. I’m so dizzy on them especially since starting the progesterone ones. I was getting bad dizzy spells before hrt which I thought was due to being peri but they’re worse right now. It’s never ending. Had bloods done in November to rule out other things but maybe need to ask for another test

I had similar but headaches rather than dizziness. HRT made them worse, I have stopped taking it now.

I had two lots of blood tests that showed nothing. I'm going to try acupuncture next (for the headaches, if not the peri symptoms)

I think it can be really difficult to get the balance right in peri because our hormones are all over the place. Also HRT is not for everyone.

My best friend has just started her HRT so i’m watching. I’m not quite there yet with my symptoms. But i am interested in the bone health aspect.

I think it will take years to actually prove the benefits of hormone replacement that are additional to menopause symptoms, such as cardiovascular health and dementia. It’s so hard to prove in trials. You’d have to follow large numbers of women for years on end. Plus, oestrogen is a natural carcinogen so allowing the population to take HRT en masse would be improving public health in one area but harming it in another. There’s definitely scope for improving the lives of women over 50 in a really significant way as we live longer but we spend more years in poor health.

That’s a pretty irresponsible way to describe oestrogen on a thread of people looking for information. Can you elaborate and share sources?

It's not irresponsible at all. It's a fact and I'm in that group too. It's why women who have had breast cancer can't take HRT and why it's not given out without restrictions. There are many natural carcinogens in life. It doesn't mean they will cause cancer at all it just means they increase the risk. My point was there are risks with HRT (as we all know). The risks are likely to be much lower than all the scaremongering that was common 10-plus years ago and there are likely many other benefits of HRT. It's just not a win-win so a complex area.

That’s was the further context I was hoping for!

I do think we have to be careful about labelling things a ‘natural carcinogen’ without that extra information. Thanks for expanding as people could just read your first post and react to that without fully understanding.

Yep! Done a year without it. Helped loads with anxiety and not ignoring appetite.

I can tolerate caffeine up to about lunch but anything after I’m awake to the early hours.
An innocent Coke at lunch is like a double red bull nowadays!

Does anyone have any tips to help with flooding? I'm on day four of what I thought was finally a more reasonable period after some really heavy ones over the past 18 months. I thought my period was pretty much over when suddenly this afternoon out of nowhere I had huge gushes and large clots over about 1-2 minutes leaving me washing my trousers out in the toilets 😔😔😔 (fortunately there are individual cubicle ones I managed to hobble to reasonably discretely). There is no way to describe it other than horrendous. How on earth do I know when it might happen again? Am I destined to walk round each time I have my period with a tampon, sanitary towel and period knickers on just in case which is what I'm currently sporting for my commute home.

Well today marks 11 months since my last period so I’m on the final countdown!
I know nothing will really change at the 12 months but it’s still a milestone.

I’m not sure what to suggest but keep an eye on your iron levels as my mum had this and ended up quite anaemic xx

Yes, one coffee in the morning and decaf after.

4 weeks now without my patch. I don’t feel any different tbh.

Weight training has commenced and my diet although not bad in anyway I’m currently tweaking for health and wellbeing reasons.

I’m 5.5 weeks without. I’m a bit thinner, less appetite and no hot flushes or night sweats. I wonder if I had a temporary malfunction in hormones which resolved? I definitely feel like the oestrogen was too high for me after a while.
I need to improve my fitness. I think it’s great you’re weight training. My muscle has declined over the last 5 months due to life change and activity level and I need to fix it. I’ve also noticed a huge difference in mobility on my left hip vs right. Right is fairly normal but the left is very different.
Anyone else had loss of flexibility?

I’m flooding almost every time now. Added to that, I’m getting horrific piles (sorry if TMI) which bleed too. They start the week before every period until the week after. Sometimes I just can’t leave the loo.

I had to get some transexamic acid tablets. I was bleeding for a month, big clots, flooding all the time, mostly working from home as I didn’t dare go into the office. 4 days of tablets 3 times a day took it down to just the barest flow. Next period I will start taking them on day 1 as I can’t keep going on with month long periods it’s making me depressed.
