I don’t have the patches but a thread and influencer I follow (doesmybumlook40) has been discussing this. She’s annoying AF but if you look at her stories today (probably before 3 when they expire) she discusses her issues with those patches. She’s got a spray now I think.

I just watched that, thankyou. She is indeed manic, a bit like Trinny who I can only watch so much of!

Has anyone had trouble keeping the evorel conti patches on their skin? It’s the one with the clear backing. I was fine this week with them but I put a new one on yesterday morning on my thigh and it was hanging off by mid evening tonight. I’ve put a new one on in a different area (I don’t use any creams on my thighs or anything) the only thing I did have in yesterday were leggings. They don’t seem to be as sticky as the oestrogen only patches with the silver backing.
I found that too. Didn't stick well on my thigh and kept peeling off, I put it on my bum in the end.

I changed to the gel now because that patch gave me awful headaches. I was fine on the other one

Yes me! On my bum is the best place to stay sticky. They do my head in.

I haven't searched through these threads, but has anyone stopped taking HRT and used CBD oil instead. I use Oestrogel and Urogestan at night and am having good effects, however I know there is an increased risk of Pulmonary Embolism with oral medicine, for me thats the urogestan, and its not body identical, is it synthetic?

CBD would be in no way a viable replacement for HRT, they are just totally different things.
As far as I’m aware the Utrogestan I’m on IS body identical…

It depends what symptoms you're trying to treat - cbd is more about mood, so if that's the only issue, it might be worth a try. Anything more than that, or if it's more rage than mood, cbd probably won't do much.

'Bio-identical' is just a marketing term, as is the idea of 'synthetic' vs 'natural' hormones - I don't think there are any medical products which contain mares' urine or whatever used to be used, so technically it's all made in a lab.

It's really worth reading Menopause Manifesto by Dr Jen Gunter, as she's a feminist gynaecologist and her take on all of this is really interesting and she's particularly good on explaining the medical evidence of not just licensed medication, but also things like cbd, evening primrose oil, yoga etc.

I use my patches on my bum and have never had an issue with them falling off. If anything, it can be tricky to get them off when it's time to change them. However, when I take the new patch out of the packet, I hold it between the palms of my hand for about 10 seconds to warm the adhesive up, so it sticks better. Perhaps give that a try.

I haven’t had any issues with mine, do you touch the patch at all when you put it on?

I think I’m anaemic, I’ve had some really awful symptoms of ‘something’ lately. Painful eyes, weak, lethargic, extreme fatigue, dizzy, sore tongue. It’s just dawned on me tonight that it could be from my extremely heavy periods.

Drs tomorrow **sigh**

I think I have just started to have unsettled periods, I’m 42. I’ve always had a shorter cycle averaging 24 days. I’ve recently had some 21 day cycles and the last two have been 26 and 34. The 26 day one I was feeling like I was due on with sore boobs, headache, poor sleep and then it came 2 days later than predicted. This 34 day one (come on today) I’ve not had any sign of feeling due on and it was 10 days later than predicted, but I do have cramping which I don’t normally get. Also the last few periods have started with what looks like older brown blood too. No other meg symptoms of peri yet, my hair is thinning a bit along the hair line. I’m taking lots of vitamins and supplements so I’m hoping that will help things rather than waiting for things to get worse.

Yep, that sounds like it. Good to keep track of things so you can give the full info when you choose to see a doctor.

On the subject of anemia, I tried to give blood a few months ago and they refused as my iron was way too low. Since then I’ve been trying really hard to up it so I feel better - less fatigue etc. Eating more whole foods, more meat and fish, green veg and nuts and taking supplement (vitabiotics gentle iron tablets). I’m feeling less lethargic than in December/Jan but not 100% of the way there.

Also, my recent scan may suggest endometriosis. Waiting on a follow up appointment. 😣

I've been on the estrogen gel for 2 weeks and so far no major issues, I started taking the progesterone tablets last night and I've been feeling crampy since, is that normal?

Yes I had that too. I'm a week in today. It went away after a day or two.

Quoting myself, all tests came back normal. Iron is ‘normal’ at 32 , apparently it’s ok above 30 🫠

Looks like I’ll be self medicating.

Besides our new intolerances to toiletries, is anyone having a similar problem with jewellery? I'm okay with rings and bracelets, necklaces a bit irritating but I've had to give up earrings altogether. It's doesn't matter what metal they are, as soon as I put them in, my ears throb

I’ve had the same rose gold plated Pandora hoops in since last may, these are the only earrings that haven’t made my ears react in years so I’ve left them in. I react to surgical steel earrings (sounds ridiculous) but previously fine with silver, but I haven’t had silver earrings in years to try now. Do your ears close up at the back if you don’t wear any?

Sore tongue is likely to be b vitamin related. Do they even test for 2, 6 and 9? You wee out b vitamins so you could take some and see if that helps at all or …my fruit-latex allergy began with sore tongue. Have you eaten kiwi lately?

Vitamin c really helped with my last period, I was taking tranexamic acid and it was doing nothing so I stoped and took vitamin c camu camu capsules instead and it was really noticeable, nearly stopped. Forgot the next day it came back, more vit c and slowed again then stopped.

They checked b12 which came back as normal and vitd was normal also. No kiwi for quite a few weeks.

I’ll try and up the iron in my diet and I’ve got an inpatient appointment this week so I’m going to pick the nurses brains whilst I’m there.

What is annoying is on my app it gives the results and says ‘patient informed’ which I wasn’t, I checked myself. So all the symptoms I’m having are still there not going anywhere and what? I just carry on. It does my head in. I’ve had to sit down today whilst doing the housework because I felt faint 🥴

Thank you. May I ask how they diagnosed you with Endo?

Have you ever felt any weird reaction to mirena or other synthetic hormones if you’ve had them? The pill etc?

I was on the pill in my twenties and I swear it made me crazy! I know it’s unlikely but I’m wary of mirena affecting my moods/mental health.
Mirena is localised dose whereas the pill is fully systemic. It’s very unlikely to impact your mental health. X
