I got rage, then I got the others later. I don’t think the rage will last
ETA wash all your knickers on hot with vinegar, halve your detergent and don’t use softener. The vinegar kills the yeast that can be left in the washing with the heat and the other stuff is just to limit irritation.
Don’t let your feet touch your knickers either. It may all sound mad but I’ve lived by this rule and I don’t get thrush.
Someone once suggested putting white vinegar on a jumbo sanitary towel and wearing it for a few hours. I feel like trying that now.

The past few weeks, the rage for both of us has been off the scale. Yesterday, we sat down and talked it through because it just can’t carry on. It’s completely irrational and making us both miserable. In the past, if we had an argument one of us would go out for a run or a bike ride to cool off but we don’t have the energy to do that all the time now. The arguments at the moment (caused by both of us feeling this rage) are so upsetting. We are at the total whim of our hormones.

I've been talking to some friends who have been through the meno. We decided that you either get brain fog and anxiety, or you get RAGE. I'm getting rage.
I'm also getting semi-permanent thrush. Sorry for the TMI.
It sounds like I (and my family) got off lightly. I never had the rage you all talk about.
However my brain fog is terrible.
Last week I served up a chilli and thought “why does it look like bolognese?” I’d forgotten the kidney beans! 😳 I’ve never done that before.
People talk to me about conversations we had a couple of months ago and I’ve zero recollection of it. It worries me.

Has anyone paid privately to see a menopause specialist. Is it worth doing.
I’ve just paid to see a menopause Dr and I felt it was worth it.
I’ve just turned 47. The worst symptoms for me have been related to my mental health. Anxiety, especially related to work. Loss of confidence, brain fog that causes panic. Lack of energy and motivation. Feeling like I want to be alone and not socialise. No interest or enjoyment in things I used to. I felt I was going mad.
Since December last year I have seen three different GPs at our practice. They were all incredibly reluctant to prescribe HRT. I’m a health care professional and well informed but they argued and pushed back. Saying I needed antidepressants (which I’ve never needed previously). The third GP finally prescribed HRT at the lowest dose but they have refused to increase it over the last seven months.
Anyway in complete desperation feeling I was losing my mind I coughed up £250 to see a menopause Dr. She was amazing. Really listened to me. I had 45 minutes with her.
She explained everything from diet, exercise, supplements.

And as I suspected said I needed more oestrogen. The dose I was on was so low it wouldn’t be doing anything. I got the medication in the post the next day.
To be listened to and validated made me feel so much better and hopeful and like I wasn’t some crazy woman.

My heart goes out to anyone struggling with their symptoms. It’s brutal

Your experience mirrors my own, I'm so glad you found it useful. It's my mental health too that I'm struggling with. Hope you start feeling better soon x

Thankyou. I feel the same for you. It’s so horrible.
It’s helped me to learn it’s because of the drop in oestrogen which affects neurotransmitters. The hot flushes, sleep disturbances and night sweats are also due to changes in the brain.
Basically it’s not your fault, you’re not going mad and there are things you can do to feel better.
I’m frustrated I’ve had to suffer all this time and fight and pay to get the help I needed. But also very lucky that I’m in a position to be able to do that.
I wish you lots of luck x

Yes my ankles and knees were bad, I started taking sage and they’ve stopped, could be a coincidence or not

I was reading last night that progesterone affects the GABA neurotransmitter. When progesterone falls, it has an impact on our sleep, anxiety, stress and resilience. It can also result in depressive symptoms. No wonder we feel as though we are falling apart. I learned about GABA at uni, but I was never taught about the link with progesterone. The more I read, the angrier I become, it isn’t rocket science, but it’s just that no one (funding bodies) seemed to think it necessary to do the research.

Going to do some research on GABA… do you take it? Have you just saved us all? 🤞

Try vaginal estrogen cream. You get it over the counter in Boots, but there are some prescribing rules for it.

Or via an online pharmacy, its called Ovestin or just Estriol 0.1.

It's worked really well for me for the urgency during the daytime and now at night sometimes I sleep all the way through without needing to go to the toilet. It can take a while to work,so persevere.

I'd definitely recommend it

For me the very worst part of peri menopause has been the driving anxiety. I’ve never been a confident driver but now it’s hell.
I have to drive too. No choice. Some days I can’t eat with the worry I’m so scared.
I didn’t know that driving anxiety was a perimenopause thing?? That explains so much. I am the only driver in our house and I need to drive but I hate it. I always reverse park and today I just couldn’t do it. Got out of the car and my car was at such an angle it was embarrassing but I just had to get out and leave it.
i also can’t face driving any longer than an hour. We are going on holiday soon and going from a different airport that’s almost 2 hours away and im panicking already. Plus even more so the return journey as we land at 11.30pm and so as well as a 2 hour journey it will also be in the dark. Can’t afford a hotel by the airport plus need to be at work in the morning so need to just get on with it.

I have been lucky so far really with my symptoms. Just started in progesterone and oestrogen, my symptoms have been things like hating my husband 😳 literally he can’t even breath and I’m fuming at him. And just some anxiety and depression. Main issues have been period related.
