Hello everyone

Not posted in this thread before, so sorry if I’m repeating all that’s been said before 🥴

I’ll be 42 in November and I seriously think I’m suffering from perimenopus.
I now have the worst fatigue and it feels all the time. I can have a full night sleep and wake up with the shakes and feel exhausted, or I could sleep for 3-4 hours and feel the same. I have slumps in the afternoons and early evening where I could fall asleep standing up. My brain fog is worsening. I can walk in a room and forget why I’m there, go to do something and in a split second forget what I needed to do, forget what I’m wanting to say mid conversation, My latest one is I can’t remember / could tell anyone my current mobile number, but the one I had 15 years ago no problem! I feel like I have dementia.
I have palpitations, body aches, headaches, rage, short tempered, no energy, I now can’t drive on busy roads/ motorways as I’m too nervous, lost interest in alot of things , joint pains….

I had blood tests 2 years ago when I went to my GP, but everything come back normal and I never was given a return appointment to discuss further.

I feel the fatigue and brain fog are the main things that have worsened since then, but feel like it’s going to be battle to have a GP even listen to me 😔

I feel like I’m falling apart

I am back with another ( few ) moans :-

After a spate of periods that were reasonably regular I am back to periods that are all over the place . No period for 53 days and then yesterday it arrived . After having very very light periods ( some I don’t even think are a period - just spotting ). I am extremely heavy .

The last week was horrendous - either very low mood or crying hysterically for no reason.

Brain fog - can’t recall my own name at times . Had one day where I went to complete a work task . Could not remember what I am supposed to do ( it’s one I do multiple times a week). For almost 15 mins I start looking at the pc screen feeling overwhelmed to the point where I was considering just getting up and going home .

Too hot all the time- I know it’s been warm all last week but I feel like I have been burning up all week. I felt like I was on fire some days.

skin - surprised I have not removed my actual skin layer . Could not stop itching.

Poor sleep - I don’t think I have had one night in some time where I am not waking up at least twice in the night. Sometimes can’t get back to sleep so just lie there worrying everything and anything.

Paranoia - this is intense to say the least.

horrible horrible week

Got my first ever flood. Luckily I was metres from a loo and had a pantyliner so caught it in time. I just avoided destroying my light grey chair in an open plan office.

Does anyone else feel the older you get the more selfish you become?
I reckon this is linked to the drop in oestrogen (the caring hormone). Once that drops, our give a shit meter goes with it. I'm sure there are more scientific studies out there but it makes sense in my head.

I've been weight training for the past 6/7 months, and whilst my waist isn't "snatched" like the 20-something influencers, I'm the strongest I've ever been, I'm 44 now and yesterday I did 3 reps of 10 push ups. I couldn't even do 1 push up back when I started in April. My shape has changed and while I'm trying not to fret over it, it's pretty obvious that my body type and genetics are of the Scandinavian Viking woman type, not the willowy actress type. I'm learning to lean into it at last.

TL;DR - if you need wood chopping or boxes shifting I'm yer gal

How can I lose the peri weight without going down the ozempic route? I feel like my metabolism has ground to a halt.
Weight lifting is your friend here, 3/5 times a week plus low intensity ie walking, swimming etc.

Lifting weights will stimulate your muscles to burn fat even when you’re sat down the next day. Diet is also key, put your details into a calculator and it will give you your daily calories for maintenance or weight loss. Plus the protein/carbs/fats you should be aiming for daily. Protein is essential.

When you get to peri menopause it’s critical to build muscle which will aid us into old age, think of it as - do I want to get off the sofa without huffing and puffing in ten years time?

The old adage of ‘use it or lose it’ is also important, mobility of our joints and the connective tissue deteriorates with age as well as losing muscle. We need to work our bodies for them to operate in an optimal way.

I know it sounds a bit preachy but think of some people around you at 65+ who are not very mobile. That will be us in not that long if we’re not careful!

Awww. Thank you so much! 🥹 Does anyone else get teary so easily?!
Before HRT, these are some of mine…
Husband made me a sandwich
Saw a newborn in Tesco (total stranger) & wanted to hold it 🫤
Realised the cat won’t live forever
Ran out of pegs and had a few items still to go out.
Bought wrong kitchen cleaner and didn’t like the smell.
Cleaner at work moved my second screen and coasters 😬
And yes, I get they are bonkers but the tears just came out of no where! I had 1 episode where the neighbours cut his conifers and I was livid! Tried send my husband over to say he had done a rubbish job, it was ridiculous & I was almost hysterical 😩

A small win in peri world. My irregular period history has read;
November 24 - on holiday
March 25 - on holiday

But NOT October 25 whilst on holiday.
I was doing a touring holiday with a lot of flights and coach tours, I was genuinely terrified how I'd manage. It's a small but significant win 😀
And, as it turned out the toilet facilities in China and India are generally awful, I'm so relieved.

Just jumping on to have a quick moan.

Why the fuck should just have to put up with this as "it's part of womanhood"?

Fuck off.

Yep, caged beast is back.

As you were x

I'm really struggling with anxiety. It's all menopause related and irrational...like I had an episode of anxiety last week when I was on a boat and a stranger was leaning over the water to take a photo with her phone.

Why would I give a fuck if a total stranger dropped their phone? I literally had to walk away and sit down where I couldn't see her to get a grip.

My life outside of menopause isn't exactly easy, so that's not helping either.

I'm pretty sure I'm peri at the moment and pronay have been for the last couple of years... Massive weight gain, exacerbated adhd/autism traits, anxiety, general lack of arsedness etc. I've been back and forward to three different GPs and only the last one seemed to acknowledge it could be peri. I've been having therapy to deal with the adhd/autism issues which helps but I don't feel like me at the moment. To top it all off I also had a stroke 2 weeks before Christmas, completely out of the blue so dealing with the aftermath of that has been tough. I'm considering a trip back to the GP but don't really know what I'm asking for if that makes sense?

Amongst the journey of sleeplessness, brain fog, itchy skin, bad back, exhaustion and strange periods … my husband decided it would be a good idea to describe a female he works with as ‘a pretty lady’ …..I think I need to get my peri-menopause book out and start leaving it around. Because I can tell you now at 46 years of age I don’t need to know there are very un-menopausal women out there clicking round the office in heels and tight tops, wafting their fertility in my husband’s face. It’s a bad day today 🤬

I completely agree.
I get no support, all of my issues are just an inconvenience to him. He used to be the opposite when I first knew him
You need and deserve help and support from someone. Whether that’s the NHS or a counsellor…

Tbh, it’s taken a proper breakdown just before Xmas to make my husband sit up and realise I’m not well… and he’s not a bad man, just can’t always see what’s going on under his nose. Shouldn’t have got to that stage but here we are.

Hey guys, just wanted to check in. A few complications but surgery went ok and I just got home so at least I didn’t have to stay in hospital overnight and sweat up their sheets 😅

I’ve been reading this thread for a while, but not posted.
I turned 40 earlier this year but my periods changed about 18 months ago. They became shorter but still fairly regular. I can cope with my periods, it’s just everything else. My sleep is all over the place, I can’t string a sentence together on the phone at work. I feel anxious and worthless. I feel the need to isolate myself, but don’t want to be alone at the same time. Then there’s the dry eyes, the headaches, the night sweats and the dizziness. I have eczema so I can’t tell if some of the itching is that or dry skin associated with perimenopause. Although I do currently have heat lumps on my legs. The same thing happened this time last year and I had to check my bed for bed bugs.
I just feel so insecure. I worked so hard in therapy for years processing past trauma and any confidence that I gained has been taken away. I messaged a friend two weeks ago and she asked if I am free to meet up soon. I said yes and to give me some dates, but it has been radio silence since. I keep wondering what I done wrong and that she was clearly just humoring me. Now I don’t want to bother her by reminding her or asking her again.
It’s only the last few months that it has occurred to me that I am probably perimenopausal. I’m very reluctant to see a doctor at the high risk of being fobbed off as being too young. I haven’t had good experiences with GPs as an adult. The last one I saw stared out the window and wasn’t interested in what I was there for or doing the job that she gets paid a lot of money for!

My stomach was so big a couple of months back and had missed two periods, I ended up doing three pregnancy tests. The horror and anxiety of an unplanned pregnancy heading for fifty really helped my bad sleep 🤣🤣🤣
Anyhow back to bleeding twice a month then after no period for nearly three months. Oh the fucking joys 🤣

sorry to make your serious chat flippant but I really wish some younger model would take my husband as he’s getting right on my wick!
sadly these younger models probably aren’t interested unless they’re rich which we aren’t!
