Just over a month until I'm a year without a period. I've got what can only be described as period pains. I'm going to cry.

My hips and bum have changed shape and my skinny jeans aren't right anymore .

I had a GP appointment yesterday and she told me that palpitations have nothing to do with perimenopause and low oestrogen, which is total balls, so I didn’t exactly feel reassured by her medical opinion. She’s referred me for a 24 hour ECG, which I’ll do, but 🤷‍♀️

I have little faith in some medical professionals from things they have said aren’t true when they clearly are !

Dr Louise Newson confirms they are a peri symptom

I have only had palpitations in peri but I suppose it’s worth getting checked out as Emma Willis’ turned out to be a hole in her heart she had all her life (and had always had palpitations but they ramped up in peri).

@Suzesnooze - even the bloody NHS website says it’s a peri symptom. I know GPs aren’t experts in basically anything but jeez, it’s so frustrating when they’re so misinformed.

But it’s good she’s checking your heart too though. It can be peri but could also be something else so nice to know. Hope you get it sorted.

I’ve been doing well with cutting back, exercising etc had lost 5lbs. According to my period tracker app my period should be due now. (My last period was 2 months ago) I’ve got all the bloatedness and my boobs looks huge but yet no period just the pms symptoms has anyone else had this. According to scales I’ve put the 5lb back on which I could cry about as it’s taking ages for the weight to come off.

I remember reading in a book about the menopause that this is common. Basically the cyclical peaks and troughs of the various hormones that govern your cycle are still going on but not at the same levels as when you were younger so it's not quite enough to initiate a period.

My current period was late and the build up was horrific yet it’s only lasted 3 days (normally really heavy/flooding and last 6 days).

I feel so much better than I did a week ago though, when I was tired, grumpy, bloated AF and unable to function.

I keep thinking that if men felt like this every month for 40 years of their life, things would be different.

I took a photo of myself at the zoo today and I barely recognised my own face. I look so tired and haggard. I mean I have a chronic illness so I'm always tired, lol, but I look 66 not 46.

I can look in the mirror and think I look quite nice and fairly youthful, then I'll see a photo of me and want to 🤮🤮🤮

Yep every photo from at least the last 5ish years has been awful 😢

luckily I can’t be arsed to care very much so it’s in the minor irritation category for now but I suppose I’ll be disappointed in 20-30 years when I look back and don’t like any photo from this 5-10 years.
