Perimenopause #4 post your woes

One of the more non serious irritating symptoms I've had - that has lasted a long time - is aching pain and weakness in my big thumb joints (the ones at the base of your hands). Makes opening bottles and squeezing things so much harder. Seems so silly and for ages I didn't clock it was perimenopause causing it.
Has anyone else had this?
My hands have been achy in general lately, including my thumbs. I also didn't consider it could be related.

I've been considering vitamin supplements, my sister is on them and my GP mentioned it. But I've looked into them and most of them seem to be not advisable due to the meds I'm on. Obviously I don't want to take any risks but I wonder why my GP recommended them when she knows about my meds?!

I'm taking the magnesium glycinate, I have contemplated getting a spray. Do you have one you could recommend?
I use the better you ones. The magnesium lotion is bliss, I'm currently using the menopause spray, I will go back to lotion though as I'm not keen on the oil

Does anyone suffer hormonal acne on chin? I had it all through my teenage years and well into adulthood. After I had my kids it settled and cleared up. Since I started HRT it’s back with a vengeance… so sore and unsightly. Has anyone dealt with similar and have any suggestions?

I have this, I think it’s the beginning of arthritis

just wanted to add regarding bloods. i had bloods done mid last year, part of a full health check cost me a fortune. but the hormone check was pretty good. cortisol, testosterone, lutenisng hormone, free androgen index, couple of others too i just can’t remember. are these the same bloods done when you go through your Gp??

I have. It comes and goes. I’ve totally simplified skin care. LRP dermo cleanser twice a day and a gel moisturiser , and also I’m gonna renew my prescription from the doctor for Duac Gel I find it good.
Edit to add
I did suffer from this for ages before I mentioned to my Doc as I was having lots of other problems. She offered me antibiotics straight away, but tbh Í take daily meds and didn’t want to take more. But this gel is good stuff.

When I had my last lot bloods via my GP surgery, the advanced nurse practitioner ordered a PCOS blood test as it includes things like testosterone and lutenisung hormone.

She's the person who actually listened to me and warned me that at my age, no weirdness on bloods meant no access to HRT without a fight, hence the PCOS test so get as much data as she could.

When I had my bloods done last year my gp didn't mention hormone tests, she said they were to rule out that it could be thyroid issues or diabetes. She seemed confident my symptoms were menopause but needed to rule out the above first.
It's not to say they didn't check hormone levels but it wasn't stated as specifically what they were checking.

Hey, I’ve been having this issue the last year or so, it’s not my actual chin it’s my second one 🤣
I’m the wrong side of 45
I’ve had to strip my skin care regime right back, no double cleansing or layering up serums anymore.
I’ve been using The Ordinary Azelaic acid 10% for nearly a fortnight on this area and the improvement already is great.

My advice would be to use ChatGpt and upload a photo of the problem area and see what it recommends.

I think I've posted about it previously, but the magnesium glycinate brought me out in spots around my chin within a short time of starting it, then they went as soon as I stopped taking it 🤷🏻‍♀️

That’s interesting I’ll mention the Duac Gel to GP next time.
Thanks for the advice

You read my mind ! I asked chat GPT after I posted. I was using the inky list azelaic acid and it recommended to start using it again. I used it last night and it did take the inflammation and pain from it. I’ll keep
Going and see how it goes

thanks for advice

For the last week or so I've been waking up suddenly a couple of times in the night. I'll have been sleeping really soundly then suddenly wake up and feel like it's morning only to realise I've only been asleep for an hour and a half. Then I struggle to fall asleep again and spend ages reading or scrolling 😕

How strange, I've been exactly the same! Wide awake an hour after going to sleep - like I could get up and start the day, then takes ages to get back to sleep. Wake up for a short while at 3am, then another wide awake time at 5ish. I'm tired but not as exhausted as I would normally be on a few hours sleep 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've had trouble getting to sleep and restless nights but never this bolt upright wide awake.
Thanks, I will certainly give the biglycinate and complex b a go 😊
