Nobody’s saying she can’t or shouldn’t!

Rob’s the ‘default’ worker of the house- imagine the uproar if he were to say he’s writing a book about the privilege of being able to work away but the guilt of not being home. Nobody needs it.

Exactly, she’s so defensive. There’s no way she knows Tattle exists, that she’s mentioned, and doesn’t regularly check in. Hiya. No one hates you Lou, just find you annoying and smug. And that’s okay! Dread to think what my Tattle thread would look like

I don’t think I even find her annoying and smug.

I just think she’s really taken the piss with her default parenting book.

I don't dislike her or dislike her , I just find her book bleeping patronising. I've been a single mum and the audacity of her sitting there in her posh house having countless holidays a year, able to send her girls to private school, while her husband works to provide that lifestyle for her/them. Read the room Lou!

It's not that I don't think she's entitled to moan about it, of course she is. Being a parent is bleeping hard work. But she has a lot of privilege to ease that burden.

They both do a lot of poor Rose, poor Lou when they are solo parenting. Hello, most families work like that and don’t have the wealth to make it all a little more comfortable and with countless holidays to look forward to. It just doesn’t sit very well. Happy for them to be successful and have money but don’t come across as so put upon and entitled.

Also worth noting she never would have gotten her book deal if she wasn’t Rob Beckett’s wife . I haven’t read it and have no doubt she can write but it’s a really tough industry to crack into unless you already have an “in” . And she’s only a best seller because of her husband’s ready-made audience . She is incredibly privileged in a lot of respects !

Not saying it’s a bad thing and if my husband was famous I’d absolutely being using my privileges ! But I just think it’s the lack of acknowledging that and her whole woe is me act which rubs me up the wrong way .

But I’m pleased she reads here . Hopefully our feedback is getting passed on !

Yeah - when Rob was praising her “achievement” of being a bestselling author as something she did all on her own, completely failing to mention that none of it would have happened without being his wife.
