Just listened to this weeks and found the Reddit part cringey AF. Went on about it a bit too much for someone who isn’t bothered 🤥

Slightly off tangent but I was listening to “the rest is entertainment” and they were discussing the new last one laughing, a comment was made that some comedians would have got £250k for the days work to film the series- reckon that’s what Rob got for last years series?! 😳

I just hope Rob stops naming dropping Lou's book so much. He slides "default parent" into most things since she's written it. I understand being supportive, but the way he was going it was like undeclared ads

Oh I didn’t mind it after all, after I’d read 🤣
I think he probably was talking about the snacks after school in terms of the ‘beige food’- however, I don’t believe for one second that the Beckett Brats don’t get snacks after school. And if it’s not beige food, then I bet they get Dubai chocolate or whatever ‘on trend’ snack it is.

I love Jamie Laing on this episode! I only really know him from Made in Chelsea but think he came across really well. Rob was absolutely desperate to interrupt at points but seems to be trying hard to hold back. I loved when Jamie called Rob out for ribbing Josh for not donating profits from his tour!

I have a soft spot for Jamie. He just seems like a sweet guy. I don't know loads about him but I like his podcast. Looking forward to this one.

Yeah, never watched MIC but whenever I see or hear him, he always comes across well but then the cynic in me thinks there must be something to turn me off him- there never is!?🤣

20 minutes in and Jamie can't finish a sentence! Both of them constantly interrupting him, it's so annoying! 🙄

I like Jamie, but had to stop listening to the episode when they started talking about sacrificing money for family time, career progression, etc. Anyway, at least Rob doesn't care what us "bleeping losers" who comment on them online think 😅

I enjoyed this episode, the ADHD chaos of it all was quite endearing . Having said that I was listening whilst in the midst of an ADHD baking frenzy, so it matched my mood perfectly.

Jamie seems like such a sweetheart.

It hurt my head listening to it! But overall it was lovely and how they talked about him after (or before, can't remember which it was) was really nice. You kind of don't want to like Jamie but he just is really likeable.

Jamie on MIC was a bit of a tool, but now he's matured and did a lot to openly talk about mental health for men, openly cried during his charity challenge and showed he's more genuine

He does come across very well on everything I’ve seen him on. I generally don’t like ‘reality stars’ (Gemma Collins can get in the bin) but Jamie always seems very likeable.

Sounds like she’s wanted to be some kind of influencer/ blogger but missed the boat, then wrote that one piece about breastfeeding or whatever it was, then someone’s chirped in her ear about her writing, then she found her topic-‘default parenting’, then someone’s probably gone ‘oh you should write a book’ and then she’s used Rob’s contacts to do so. I don’t need a celebrity/ influencer/ famous person’s wife to write me a book about parenting- and if I did I’d want Helen Skelton (why she’s not been on the pod is beyond me- unless I’ve missed that episode!). I’d rather have a nobody write it. How am I supposed to relate to and sympathise with someone whose kids have been abroad more times this year, than I have in the past 10 years?!
I bought Lou’s book when it came out and it came across very whiny and over-privileged to me but I am coming from the perspective of a single parent whose ex is abusive and doesn’t contribute in any way (and only contributed negatively before he was removed by the police); I also have no family support, no in laws to help out and very low income. Therefore, reading someone complain when they’ve had no parenting or life problems that money couldn’t solve (or at least improve), have a very loving and hands-on husband who provides financially to the point where they can choose not to work and still afford a huge house and multiple incredible holidays a year, and also has helpful parents, did not resonate with me.

Anyway, I’m relatively new to the podcast and really enjoy it, I started listening late last year, and have been going back to the beginning (so listening to new ones as they come out but also listening to summer 2021 atm). Just listened to the episode from June 1st 2021 and there was a segment on “mental load”, which sounded very familiar having recently read Lou’s book, so I Googled to see when she wrote her blog post and was interested to see it was only in 2024.

Can’t help but wonder if she found this episode inspiring for her book, particularly this lady’s email (I can’t find receipts but I’m sure this list is very similar to the beginning of the book):

Dos Josh do a third podcast, about football??
He used to co-host Quickly Kevin, about 90s football. Michael the producer also produced Quickly Kevin. It’s since morphed become a podcast about 00s football, with Alex Brooker as one of the cohosts.

Looks like they’re back in Disney. Do we think there will be another episode dedicated to it?
